  1. Looking to buy a cadet major as I had one as a kid and wished i had kept it !! Any advice on what to look out for when i find one for sale , or does anyone on here know where there might be a good one for sale. Cheers.
  2. 30grm clear pigeon no6 best all round cartridge on the market for decoying or roosting imo. Been using Lyvale 28grm 6,s lately in my light wieght sxs and they are a good second choice
  3. After 20 years of racing and packing in 2 year ago I still have 3 pairs of my best (racers and stock). I offer to any one on here free of charge 2 squeelers off 2 of my best old stock birds . Sire blue cock 507 Southwell x Fear bros. Dam Southwell/Verrotte x direct Eagleson Bussheart. Both proven multi first winners. Youngsters ideal for stock and rung with old rings(2011 2012)These birds have Bred birds to score from over 600 mile and may day birds at 500 plus. A genuine gift.
  4. been using milbro type all my life. Using solid brass one for last 20 year and original milbro for 20+ before that. Will never change. Bells of Hythe do loads of different types of elastic and other catty bits , google them , best of luck
  5. seen mixy on Watership Down and Frost Hill here in Hampshire for the past 3 weeks,
  6. if you are in Eire and the ring number starts IHU S, or IHU N contact the Irish Homing Union and they,ll contact the owner. If its GB then contact RPRA both homing unions have decent web sites. Any other ring prefix will be on there, please pm me if you need any other assistance.
  7. Just come home from work (01.00) and there,s a message on the side from the wife saying she let a pigeon in at 9pm, went down the shed to check and it,s a young black pied that's been missing 2 days. Some twat has cut the ring off. I am in the process of packing up pigeons after 15 yrs in the sport and have never encountered this before, why do it? if they wanted pigeons I would have helped them out. This bird is now unraceable before it even got started. Any pigeon boys on here ever had this problem. Got some good Jan Arden x,s and v. good grizzles left if anyone is interested. ATB.
  8. I have a few white Busshearts and have flown them for a few years. None have returned with hawk strike marks, I find its mostley the pieds and white flights that attract the hawks. I am packing up the pigeons after 15yr due to sparrowhawks around here amongst other things. Oddly enough I have a lot of dark chqs. and black pigeons {Southwells and Southwell x,s} and the hawks don,t seem to like them either. Maybe just coincidence! Good luck with the birds mate,
  9. I,ve had lurchers all my life but the best ferreting dog I have had was called Jay, 3/4 whippet 1/8 greyhound 1/8 collie . Very clever very quick. Miss him ferreting all though my whippet x now is v. good he,s not a patch on that old blue dog.
  10. it,s a great day out, especially in good weather, which it will be tomorrow, enjoy the craic and if you want to show your dogs, don't take it too much to heart. They,re working dogs first not in a beauty show. It,s all about like minded people having a day out,...... Enjoy it and lets not bitch among ourselves. ATB.
  11. Does anybody on here dip new hemp nets in anything to help preserve them? I,ve read about creosote but never seen it done. Any info or advice appreciated. Cheers.
  12. Few traps for sale or exchanange. Aviary or collecters traps only. 2x small clapnets{used to be used on seed patches in olden days} multi catch and call cage also small mule cage, can text pics. Interested in ferreting, sea fishing gear or why or sell, for enq. plse pm.
  13. Thanks for the pics. Quality made traps. unfortunatly cash is tight and my beach fishing gear is to tutt to ask for a trade.
  14. Years ago used to go up to London to a pub where all things to do with birds were sold or exchanged. I remember going on a Saturday evening to The Knave, then the Owl & Pussycat and finally to the Fountain all in Bethnal Green. Anyone else on here used to go? Is there still such a pub going? Would love to go and have a look again if it is still in existance. Probley long gone now like all good things. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.
