    Anybody done any rookery shooting this year? Just wondering because due to the current situation with general license, it’s contentious, but if individual licences have been requested for this, under what grounds has it been permitted? Rooks will be on the crops as we know, but is it legitimate reason for keeping numbers in check?

    Me too Nigel, the only Remington’s I used to bother with really. Same with cci’s, I only use their cb longs these days. I found the segmented subs terribly inaccurate.

    I’ve considered one myself but it’s the ammo situation that held me back. Have a look at Richard Utting on sharpshooters uk. He’s put a few videos up on you tube with the fireball.

    The subsonic are a little quieter, but they don’t seem very effective beyond about 25 yards. Out of the two, I’d use the hi flyers unless noise was the main consideration. Remember though, only the fibre wad hi flyers are subsonic. Plastic wad hi flyers are faster so obviously louder than the fibre wads. Use #5 shot if you want a bit more range.?

    I’ve used these in my 20 hushpower and they are ok at short range. I’d suggest eley hi flyer fibre wad. They’re subsonic and hit harder. Only hi flyer fibre are subsonic, not plastic.

    All the blackbirds nests that I’ve found this year haven’t made it past hatchlings. I found another this week, in the ground. Sure enough though, the jays were on patrol this morning around this nest on the ground. They made off on my approach. When I revisited it they were around again. I was thinking, I can see what’s going to be happening here today. Following the terms of the GL regarding jays at the moment, all I could do was to warn them off. I had to wait almost an hour and a half to give them both a good telling off. I think they’ve got the message and should keep away now as they are

    That’s three for Remington then? the last time I bought some Remington subs, half of them were HV’s in the same box?. They were cheap for a reason. I was more recently offered some cyclones for the grand sum of £2:25 box/50. I declined.
