  1. Test curve will have a bearing on casting distance and weight size, to heavy a weight and you could end up snapping the rod. Regards
  2. Thanks for the replies, It wasnt about the money, if Im honest I was hoping for a bit of vermin control, the dilema I had was how long I attended before I would have won the trust of the keeper and if that would have ever happened as he made it very clear it would not. I was more annoyed at the lack of organisation, I never had my name taken when in attendance so not sure how they were ever going to keep tabs on who was there and how many times I attended. Anyway I did enjoy the beating and wont let it put me off. Regards
  3. First season of beating for me and after a number of days out there was no pay (50mile round trip), no lunch (breakfast is optional at a cost) no chance of any vermin control (game keepers exact words were “No Chance”) and not a great deal of organisation. I wont be returning but would be interested to know what you would want from your beating experience, Is it pay, secure a permission or do you do it just for the day out and is this the norm or was I expecting too much ? Regards
  4. Good show all round and one of the best bits of the day, brilliant to see all the crowd invited into the ring at the end and the dogs loving it.

    Mozzies

Avon skin so soft in oil form. If you use any product with deet be careful around plastic as it eats it.
  6. There's a shoot that were looking for beaters in Hinton nr Bath on the PW forum. If you make contact with them and they invite you along I can pick you up and you can tag along with me. Be aware Im new to beating myself but as previous posters have pointed out it could open some doors. Regards TB
  7. back for Bristol city on Saturday? £39 on the kop F*ckin joke mate, I've a mate who works at the ground so I got into the ground to look at the new pitch, it looks absolutely brilliant, and the new score board was up and is great. Let's see what the gates are like pal but I think they are going to be affected by this price hike, my mate said the new chairman has got serious ambitions for the club so,let's hope. Not may City travelling and our supporters club has called for a boycott, also streaming live on the net is not going to help. Shame as I always enjoyed a trip to Hillsborough.
  8. It wasn’t all doom and gloom, particularly liked the bit where as the Looney walked away a couple came up with their grandson and were showing a interest and Alan Blair asked the young un if he would like to go fishing and he said yes. Just a shame the fruitcake wasn’t about to witness it.
  9. Guy handled his self really well and just goes to show the ignorance shown by some people. 20:00 min https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C9Wzfmg7fjc Regards

  13. Thanks gents fingers crossed I dont need the refund. Regards
  14. Hi can anyone confirm if you receive a refund on a shotgun licence payment if the application is rejected ? Regards

  16. I follow this forum every post every day but have no idea whats going on. Theres me thinking cattys were about a v stick and some elastic and a few stones its sooooooooooooooo complicated
  17. Im no expert but the Asda bands I have on my catty are doing ok and the blue appear to be as good as TG imo
  18. Thanks, and they are Asda's exercise bands they come in a pack with three strengths (and colours) and are £6 a pack or two for £10. There are a few reviews on you tube and are apparently as good if not better than theraband ! I havent used catapults long so the guys on here may be able to confirm that, but they appear to be ok. I made the mistake of buying a cheap cutter so struggled to get a clean cut, Ive now bought a better one and the band is cutting nice. Regards TB
  19. Pets at home are doing small ones, two for £7 so if you mess up it dosent cost the earth.
  20. Thanks gents appreciate the kind words. Ive got plans to "pimp" a few up just dont want to run until Ive learnt to walk. Regards TB
  21. Ive used John for bits and bobs and he provides a good service and is very helpful http://www.stickmaker.com/ Or this chap he does kits havent used him myself though. http://thestickman.co.uk/ Regards TB
  22. Hi I recently bought a excellent catty from Jim @ sheffield catapult and after being inspired by you guys on here thought I would have a crack myself. Bands are Asda's flats as I didnt want to spend to much if I messed up. Im not sure if Im going to varnish it as I like the natural look, but I am hooked now and have more "potentials" drying out as I type. Any feedback or advice will be appreciated. Regards TB
  23. Your not wrong and IMO still the best in the West Country but a real shame in the current climate .....................but from a buyers point of view the plus side was the traders were keen to sale the stuff off cheap.
  24. I don’t post much (but read and learn a great deal, so thanks to all) as I’m a little intimidated by the knowledge on the forum so please be gentle with me. I have been bought some Napier V90 field patches for Xmas and have used one on my HW77. My question is they smell just like WD40 and if they are not would WD40 achieve the same results if used, has any one used/use both or either. Thanks in advance and Happy New Year.
