  1. Some representative from the teachers union on the news this morning complaining that to many children were in the schools when it should only be children of essential workers................When is the penny going to drop that almost everyone in employment is being classed as a essential worker ?
  2. I don't think anyone would dispute a "lockdown" would not help in this situation but this isn't a lockdown. I work in a heavy industrialised area and there is not one single unit/operation that is not running, its as busy as it always have been. It feels more and more like our ability to do anything outside of work has been taken away and our civil liberties are being eroded.
  3. I hope not, I'm moving further down South to get away from the shit stain that is Bristol ??
  4. And has anyone seen the list of "essential workers" it appears almost everything other than leisure and activities are ok to crack on at work. The more this goes on the more it feels like a control thing.
  5. Heard similar from a nurse based at Taunton, she was actually fast tracked so she could come to Bristol to man the Nightingale on the March lockdown, and we no what happened with that. I was also reading they reckon over 50% of the population have already had it without even knowing! I'm not suggesting the virus isn't serious but the response just seems to get more and more bizarre. Had a email from the Angling Trust last night fishing has been banned completely I seriously don't know how that is worse than me or the wife going to work and mixing with hundreds of strangers ?
  6. There you go Max https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/face-coverings-when-to-wear everything is open to abuse, if you ask politely I'm sure the "trout pouted" shop assistant would have explained why. If she was behind a screen that is deemed as protection enough ?
  7. Sir Ranulph Fiennes, the first man to completely cross Antarctica by foot and the world’s most prolific endurance record holder, swears by these Skee-Tex Thermal Boots and has worn them on many of his polar expeditions.
  8. My wife works in a shop and is exempt from wearing a mask because of medical conditions, she wears a badge explaining that. You do not need a medical certificate to prove you are exempt and can download the badges from the government website. There are rumours that individual stores may make them compulsory for all staff and those that cant wear mask will be moved to a non customer focused role or put on full sick. Not a dig but If it concerns you that much why not ask politely why they are not wearing one if its medical reasons I'm sure they would explain why ? Sometimes asking in
  9. There was a doctor on LBC radio from Gloucester yesterday talking about this, reckons the video was taken of the corridors around the wards and these were empty because of isolation he said if the video would have shown the wards they were packed. I presume the arrest was made because it was a isolation and she shouldn't have been near the ward but that was not mentioned. Did make a valid point that no film crews are allowed in as it wouldn't be fair on the families of the patients who are not allowed access. IMO he didn't sound to convincing and the usual soundbites were spewed out.
  10. Buy and try, Westbury on Trym ? Just like a sweet shop without the sweets ?
  11. I didn't compare nurses and doctors to bin men and sewage workers though, I questioned why the need for such adulation for a organisation and its employees who are paid to do a job, they are especially needed in times like these but 76,200 of them go sick on one day but are still treated like messiahs. Life's experiences mould your opinions and thoughts and mine are the NHS are not the saviours they are being made out to be.
  12. Actually you wouldnt last long if everyone's waste or sewage system stopped and the consequences would be more severe than covid. I worked in the NHS and left because I couldnt stomach the red tape and in some cases the unprofessional attitude of a large number of the people I worked with, not all, but quite a few.
  13. Sorry about your Grandparents and to answer your question its sadly a bit of both.
  14. Some were migrants Greb, some were not. What they all had in common was they were all lazy b*****ds who didn't give a shit about the NHS or the people they were supposedly helping.
  15. It just grinds me the adulation the NHS gets when there have been other essential services through out this year that have received no credit. NHS staff get to walk past the queues in the supermarket but the bin men, sewer workers, shop workers etc still have to queue, there not all the angels the media like to make out.
  16. I worked for a department of the NHS many moons ago and as in all walks of life you had your fair share of wasters in fact the sick pay was almost considered a perk. It was so bad I would roster the drivers around days when I knew their sickness would be due as it was on a rolling basis. I'm not suggesting all NHS staff are like this, some do a amazing job, but apparently 76,200 NHS staff failed to turn up for work in one single day in November no private company would tolerate those levels of sickness.
  17. For my sins I have almost every hooligan book published and there are some shockers. I would recommend "Top Boys" which details most top firms its easier reading than most as its more of a interview style. One of the most entertaining and believable was "Naughty Forty" which follows one of Stokes Top Lads not just about football but his life and hardships.
  18. I’ve always said it takes a certain type of person to actually cause physical harm to another person whether that be in a boxing ring, local pub on a Saturday or at the football. Most of the “football hooligans” now and even back in the day have never thrown a punch in anger. Look at the youtube clips there are 2 or 3 on both sides who actually go “toe to toe” the rest shout, posture and throw glasses indiscriminately. Most of the top firms like Millwall and West Ham just simply had a bigger group of lads that were that “certain type of person”, the rest had the mouthy stand behind t
  19. I've always found it difficult finding a chair that suits me and tried all the big name brands and styles. There really isn't a one size fits all chair out there and have found a lot depends on your style of fishing, long days, up and down out of the chair, reclining, resting your arms, uneven banks, walking distance to swim etc. For me I always revert back to the chair Wolfdog91 uses, cheap, light weight and reasonably comfortable, downside is they are a waste of time on uneven ground.
  20. So wear a funny £100 hat with a shark on it =smash the granny out of some sort and (hopefully) never see her again. Or M&S joggers and uni fund = future wife material............difficult choice ? And who keeps getting a email update from ebay asking if they are still interested in buy a Paul & Shark beanie since they clicked on the link ? My misses saw it on my phone and said what the hell you looking at spending a £100 on a hat for............guess I know what choice I made, now where's me M&S joggers ?
  21. Problem is the youngster now are starting on a unskilled wage at 18 not far off that of blokes in their 60's couple that with the fact they usually stay at home paying peanuts it means their disposable incomes are massive. Young lads where I work have over £1500 a month in their pockets once they pay house keep buying a stone island coat for a grand is a drop in the ocean to them. When I left school on a YTS £25, £10 for house keep, £5 for travelling, £5 for clothes/deodorant used to put a £1 a week up for new tools and £4 for cider on a weekend, wouldnt change it for the world made me
  22. So sitting down and eating your meal with a soft drink before 6pm makes you less likely to contract covid-19 than sitting down at 6.10pm with a meal and a alcoholic drink then! The cynic in me is starting to think this is more and more about control.
  23. I’ve said it before, its one of the best forums on the internet. I don’t post very often but there are some genuine comedians on here and I’m not sure they even no it, keeps me entertained for hours on end ?
  24. Just down the road from you they are reporting the ASDA distribution depot has over 40 confirmed cases, if food distribution gets disrupted it could start getting messy.
  25. He fancies a couple of days off, got loads of them where I work doing it. They have a cough must self isolate (always a Thursday or Monday), get a test, two days later negative result, two weeks later repeat. Owners are doing their nut but they cant do a thing as its the law and don't fancy a £10k fine.
