  1. Id say he got a clip round the ear for it haha
  2. Agreed. A dog with a belly full of grub has no reason to listen to you or work for you. With some types of dog, food is everything.
  3. Lurcher x lurcher from parents doing the job and you have a good chance of a worker.
  4. fairplay hows the white dog bred delboy?
  5. Never used penicillin on a dog, never needed to and i believe its because i give them a good bathe at the end of the day and maybe the day after. The dogs are better for it because if one day they do need penicillin, itll be effective.
  6. Well said. All the old reliables seem to be very laid back and calm around the yard and make the job look easy in the field.
  7. Always liked the whites and seen a couple of decent ones but due to the lack of decent blood, ive never had em. Always had fells as thats whats been available.
  8. You'll struggle. I couldnt find one that wouldnt question and interrogate me about my dogs having docked tails.
  9. That pup is a good size for its age. Do they all make a decent size or do they vary, as some say.
  10. They look very much like the old fell types that where knocking about local to me. Long rough wirey fur with dashes of white on there chest or feet. And the black coat turning a slight grey blue with age.
  11. The chance of a bolt is mostly down to the fox, the earth it is in and the position the dog enters. A willing terrier can force a quick bolt but if it is in a stop, to create a bolt would mean the dog has given ground. Different if its mid tube. Bolting dogs are very useful dogs in certain hands. E.g in deep places on steep bankings. And they shouldnt be overlooked. But theyre not in the same league as a digging dog and definitely shouldnt be a goal to breed towards.
  12. How would you catch one dead? ?
  13. Always been accurate for me and easy to pin point but my depth has intermittently started playing up. Other than that it has served me well.
  14. Happens everytime i leave it and the heavy graft in the van?
  15. Fairplay shovel shy, the dogs are getting the work they need ?
  16. Never seen one or spoke to anyone whos seen one up north england. They seem to be in little pockets.
  17. Nice wee dog there. Looks like it could get anywhere ?.
  18. Thats a nice stamp of a pup. Plenty of filling out at 6month and just the right size for a bit of everything ?
  19. Fairplay. They seem hard pushed to ground here. Sods law, all dogs laid up and we had HEAVY rain last night and this morning, would have been ideal.
  20. I agree, i wouldnt myself. But theyre of the opinion it is doing them favours, ive seen them work and by the time theyre normal starting age theyve gained lots of experience and working a treat. I suppose theres no set age but better later than too early.
  21. Id say it is for most lines. Not seen many terriers mature at that age but theyre doing the business. Who am i to argue with them.
  22. Really? Never known anyone complain about the old shape. Nissan vauxhall or renault.
  23. I myself have always held back till 15month+ but know a good handful of lads who enter from 8 month old. Call it daft, but its there line of dogs which they know well and the proof is in the pudding, majority of the dogs are flying. I think on the french digging thread it was mentioned they enter early too.
