  1. Can’t wait to retire then I can help the keeper 24/7 and not get paid but just do it for the love of being involved.
  2. Current crop of young ‘uns in work at the moment are snowflakes. They won’t tackle most things, always play the health and safety card and sit quietly in the canteen looking at YouTube. I’ve taken to have my dinner out on the moor and not go into the office unless I have to. The dart board has gone, the card school has gone, the push penny table has gone, curry night on Mondays has gone, having a kick about in the yard has gone, they just sit staring at their phones and polishing their cars ?
  3. I started work in the seventies and I’ve never been out of it, always worked. Left school on the Friday, started work on the Monday. I said to my old fella, “ I’ll look for a job in a few weeks”. He said “ like f**k you will, get out and find one before you leave school”. There were jobs everywhere when I was a kid. I must have had 4-5 in my first few months out of school, like most of my friends. It took me a while to settle down in something I liked. Maybe it was localised job shortages in some areas?
  4. “Here they come.....” loved watching the Monkees when I was a kid ????? rip Peter
  5. Check along your skirting and under floor boards....Borrowers, I’m telling ya ?
  6. I did a price match at go outdoors on a pair of Meindl vakuum I’d seen cheaper elsewhere. Price at go outdoors was £238, price matched with the same boots at another shop and got them reduced to £152. Always worth looking about if you’re spending a few bob ?
  7. Used to watch an old farmer near work parked up in his tractor with shotty in his cab waiting for a mole to rise ?
  8. Can’t remember what these cost, £160-170 I think but like is normal, look on line for the cheapest. Price match with go outdoors for an extra 10% off as well ?
  9. These are the comfiest boots I’ve ever wore, Meindl Vakuum. Just walked 8 miles in them this morning over moorland and scree. I walk 30 odd miles or more a week in my job over some rough, wet land. Absolute belting boots. I’m normally in the Meindl Burma boots but they’re in the car for tomorrow on the fells ?
  10. We don’t and that’s what the antis use the internet for, so they can draw in unsuspecting members of the public to support their cause by posting utter shite. Next, they’ll be voting and commenting on hunting matters that they know feck all about but have taken the word of the antis without doing any research themselves. It’s all designed to destroy our way of life no matter what it takes ?
  11. I’m a cords or tweed man these days. Always mokeskins out hunting. You loose your shape as you get older, and seeing these older guys with a gut and fat thighs trying to carry off jeans is a piss take and hilarious. I’m all for comfort and looking smart, not trying to squeeze into gear a size or two to small. Still got two pair of jeans but they both hang off me as I lost weight last year. I’ll bin them soon.
  12. Spot on, lovely dram
  13. Happy Burns night, love Scotland, hope to visit very soon ????????
  14. It’s not rocket science, sugar’s worse than some fats in our food. Tend to only eat the good fats now, no biscuits, less bread, no pasta, always a decent breakfast like porridge with fruit on or shredded wheat, poached eggs on toast etc. I’m not saying you cut everything out, just moderation and being able to control your old habits. I have an app on my phone that scans bar codes on food. It tells you how much sugar’s in the food and is useful when you’re starting to look at your diet.
  15. I had my works mot in December. Pleased to say everything was fine for my age. 59, 60 next week. Cholesterol was 2.4, which, I was told by the assistant was excellent and weight spot on. I cut back on the sugar since September after finding and reading a book on diabetes in a charity shop. Lost about 20lbs after letting my weight creep up. Back on track now and I’ll stay there. A guy in work asked recently what tablets I take and when I said none, he didn’t believe me! Lots of exercise and I have a job that means I’m outside in the countryside everyday, so why not take advantage? I could drive
  16. In a way I hope it’s true and he gets his comeuppance, but there again, that would mean some poor sods have been assaulted by him. He always comes across as being a bully to me

  20. I’d have thought so too but the local keeper had two dog foxes and a vixen in one field the other night. Both dogs completely oblivious to him only a few yards away. He told me one was a blur in the scope it was that near! Another guy locally had 5 in one night last week on different spots ?
  21. Whacked this dog fox last night. He wouldn’t keep still in a hedgerow, glancing at me and then moving away. I was squeaking then stopped. That got his curiosity going. He stepped out for one last look....? .22 Hornet ?
