  1. If you don’t like it write something? At least we have a fieldsports paper on the shelves of newsagents for general sale it can only be a good thing IMO. I agree I have read some amazing pieces of fantasy full of crazy statements which any average hunter will see right through their errors and lack of experience are obvious. I also think the rabbit chop is generally a very poor way of killing rabbits, I can’t say i have seen anyone do it that well, just looks an amateur way to kill rabbits thats for sure. Just pull the necks/chin them its way easier and looks more humane if you working in
  2. I think he is Just a kid on a windup again. Free running, road work, bushing etc, it all has its place to keeping dogs fit, and I believe that a good variation excercise is what you need. Just get the dogs out and about as much as possible
  3. It maybe the pic but that dog looks like it toes out! Nice looking bitch all the same!
  4. Nice and cheap, just get some end pins and some hazel wands and use it traditional, lovely.....
  5. Excellent write up........the dogs did well.
  6. Cheeky feckers, good to hear they bottled it, I guess that part one of the risks working in public places...... Regards Sirius
  7. A license does mean something and you know it does, maybe you should read up on veterinary medicines if you unsure ? infact efficacy is very high on the list next to quality and safety. I understand you have a very strong view but It is simply not correct and unproven. I dont want to get into a back and forth but one thing is for sure Garlic DOES NOT KILL WORMS of any sort
  8. nice dog that . Cheers he has caught alot of game over the years
  9. It's a hard job finding a non commercially bred Decent worker that's for sure. And when you have a dog it's even harder to find a suitable bitch with a owner who wants to breed!
  10. I am afraid you are not correct Sandymere. If Garlic was so dangerous would the VMD have it licensed in 3 herbal medicines to treat minor infections, bronchial conditions, skin conditions and arthritis which are available over the counter ? NO of course not. Infact Professor Steve Dean Mrcvs chief exectuive of the Veterinary Medicines Directorate has written a very interesting piece on the use of Garlic in the canine press. No if anyone knows his medicines I think he would, NO? I agree there is nothing licensed to KILL worms thats for sure, and plenty of cowboy unlicensed products will
  11. Laguna line! You mean a laguna dog features in the pedigrees I should think. Good luck selling your pups!
  12. There is an ad in the Cmw for a litter in Dorset. Grey whip over a collie Good luck!
  13. Nice bit of footage, and your hound looks in fine fettle also.

  15. The brindle bitch looks nice, I was wondering why she is being held back over a warren, bit keen? Or just the way the photo is? It is surprising you don't see more of this breeding concidering that there are two places commercially pushing out alot of collie/greys (hancock) and whippets (mike brown) every year. Personally i think the above combo could be quite a gamble, but could work out well if your very lucky.
  16. Shame all collie x threads turn into a 'Hancock' love in. Mind I guess he pumps out more collie crosses than anyone else in the country if not the world! Thing that puts me off is the ethics of mass produced dogs, it's totally wrong in my book. But there is no doubt a percentage are good dogs. It would be great to here from a few owners of dogs not bred or related to Hancock dogs! I know it's a small percentage in comparison to the commercially produced dogs, but I know there must be a few about!
  17. Size is really hard to say depends on dogs used . If your lucky the collie should add some desirable traits to the dog, depending on the collie. Any pics?
  18. Excellent, she is looking the part now! I had a terrible morning on some hedges just like that a few weeks ago loads of squeakers and lie ups!
  19. That sounds pretty grim WILF, hitting trees worries the hell out of me, but cant be avoided sometimes. One time many years a go, I had dog chasing a roe through a thin windbreak of trees the dog struck at speed which caused the roe to slam side on into a tree, The Roe was near enough dead from the impact when I got there and the dog looking confussed, he was lucky that day! just goes to show how it can all go wrong so quickly. Are dogs need pleanty of luck in their lives. Would be nice to see a pic of your hound. Regards Sirius
  20. Best to be careful with your dogs that's for sure lamping can be a rough and risky old game . But once they are off the slip they are at the mercy of their own destiny and sometimes no matter how hard you try to prevent things, bad things can happen.
  21. Very nice looking pup, nice to see a pic of him at last
  22. With some of the herding breeds they really are designed/breed if you will 'to go all day' on not alot at all, they are tough creatures with basic needs. Get him on a plain diet, low in protein, no colourings and additives if possible, ideally a plain fresh meat diet will be fine. The diet may cahnge him slightly but be aware diet change may take upto 4-6 weeks to see a huge differnce, and he is the produce of two pretty active breeds so this maybe part of it. Some dogs need a year for each leg before they chill out ;-) Good luck
  23. No problem, running 6 rabbits is fine fora few nights on the trot of the dogs fit and lansds not testing, if the dog had alot higher amount of runs say 20+, then you should start to think hard about giving the dog a good rest it. Rest is VERY VERY important and IMO essential to a dogs longevity as a worker.
