  1. Can anyone tell me if the reflectors are interchangable between the 140 and 170 tracer lamps, the same as the lightforce? Cheers Sirius
  2. Right, I have heard a few whispers of people trying to sell ferrets which supposedly have stoat in their breeding, personally I think its a sales ploy and mostly bollocks  I have always believed that although they are both Mustelids, they are differnt enough not to be able to produce young and IF they did it would be a 'Mule' infertile the same as if a ferret bred with a american Mink? I am pretty sure I am correct on this? Or does anyone know different?
  3. So if you can't call it off quarry, it's just an untrained, point and slip dog? No not at all.
  4. There's a great diffence in starting from scratch, but with a dog whos wed to them it's very hard to do! You can break a dog to anything as a youngster it's no big deal, but how many lurcher folk really have the inclination, experience or patience to do this? A point and slip dog is easy to have, a dog that's trained takes time ;-) I know which I would want to walk out with.
  5. Looks like a lack of prey drive to me!
  6. We all have our opinions, but our in-house, self appointed, sceptic, link posting troll never disapoints. We would of hoped he would of got bored by now. But No...
  7. If you need any advice, I can help I have fed dogs this way all my life, same as my father and grandfather before me In my opinion it really is the best way to feed dogs, especially if you want to keep them in top condition, there are many many benefits. Good Luck Sirius
  8. ive seen insured dogs treated when they don't need treated.............how much do the vets like insurance? They love it, and so do I as it's saved me a fair few quid over the years  One dog i ran neary £2k up with a foot injury, the result was good in the end I spend alot of time dealing with vets on a professional level, and like any profession they are a mixed bunch, but for running dogs a good specailist running dog vet is a must. I have learnt this from first hand experience. Good luck Sirius
  9. Metacam is a anti inflammatory and pain reliever. I suppose he may have thought it would help with the discomfort, but there is no real way you can justify using just Metacam for a corn as it will only relieve pain and swelling in the short term so not a solution. Corns are very difficult to deal with even after surgery they often come back. For anything like that use a greyhound vet and your local small animal vet for run of the mill stuff. Just had 3 teeth removed from my dog and it cost £230. I am lucky he is insured. Good luck Sirius
  10. What a stupid thing to say from someone who obviously has little if any experience
  11. I take it all back, there are much worse than you Cookie lol this fella goes far beyond stupid. I can't believe my eyes sometimes on here!   Genius Words cant really describe those sort of idiotic posts!
  12. You do a fantastic job, and I honestly dont know how you all do it I will be in contact with lots of goodies
  13. Ooooo Mate, you better watchout with that breeding they might be too fast for rabbits
  14. Well I have to disagree, not sure if I have a freak or not but my reverse 3/4 bred caught consistently last season, she infact caught as many bunnys last season as a fast decent dog round these parts could probably bag maybe only her second season but I can,t see any reason why she won,t continue to do so discounting injury, which brings me to my next point and correct me if you think I,m wrong but isn,t a more sighthoundy type more likely to be laid up in the kennel with injuries than a more robust less sighthoundy type animal and I,m not sure if it was you or not which wrote a few mont
  15. Well I dont want an argument either, but rabbits are not easy or slow thats for sure (well not down here in the south) and without doubt a dog needs pace to be able to catch them consistantly over many seasons. Otherwise we would be all running reverse 3/4 breds, which will not cut the mustard unless you have a freak.
  16. Come on, a dog needs speed to catch rabbits consistantly, especially if you work on varied terrain. You need plenty of both in a good allround lurcher, and thats the crux of the matter.
  17. I find the army folders useless on a dig, they wobble and fold up. I have always found a solid little spade superior. I got mine from some mates that work for the water board, they call them teaspoons, thet are a small round mouth spade.
  18. I am all ears on this Dances, 123456, South hams hunter, i want to know too
  19. You need both brains and speed, one without the other will not make a good allround lurcher. Forget the % and look at the dogs sire/dam and the way they work in the field, oops I forgot it coming from hancock Then its just that bit more of a gamble But good luck with your collie type
  20. Well done you..lol You mean you wrote the article yourself, did you use your topless picture to accompany it
  21. It's a bad idea, pushed by people with little understanding of dogs IMO. There was terrible article in the Cmw written by Darren Gallagher last year where he recommends its use. Just feed a good balanced diet, natural supplements if needed and keep them fit, a good eye for the management of dogs is all you need.
  22. Years ago they fed ferrets bread and milk, snapped their teeth and muzzled there ferrets Like I say why risk a perfectly good ferret getting infection and dieing when a Jaffa or a Jab will sort it
  23. Your doing a great thing Mouse, I take my hat of to you ;-)
