  1. Chances are you wouldnt in reality as a very very small Percentage of bull greys for instance would have the correct build, temperment, feet, soft mouth to be classed as outstanding rabbit dogs worth breeding from. But its all down to personal standards.
  2. If a dog excells at the job you want it for and is physically sound in body and mentally sound in temperment course you could bred from it. Especially if the pups are going to be doing the same job.
  3. Another illiterate lazy lurcher owner is what that advert screams to me......
  4. The problem is dog shows are just beauty shows, and to be a winner you have to have it all in my book, you can never ever tell if a dog is a good worker on looks alone or the claims of it owner. So I always veiw it a beauty contest, and if you have an ear, leg or a big pair of bollocks missing, your out
  5. It's down to the judge. In my mind when I have judged I am looking for a top quality dog which hopefully not only looks the job but can do it (debatable and impossible to know). The fact that it can pass on these possible traits to pups is a l factor, and to be the complete package for me it must be packing a full clip. Same goes for monorchids (one ball) they get to leave the ring.
  6. 100g, that is a tad heavier than I am looking for I am only fishing these style of lures at around 20-30g
  7. Sirius

    A dog

Looking good Thats a great write up of your day out, well done
  8. Realtree works well if its people you dont want to see you, I am not conviced with hgame species, IMO its just a rip of to get you to buy more clothing. Get some old army kits flectarn, dpm etc. Plenty of field craft and colours to suit the season are more than enough.
  9. Thanks Acuspell, I dont think the 15-40 is to heavy for bass, but I get what you mean about the length of it, at 8/6 maybe it could be better. Mnid you saying that when you are fishing here of the chesil beach over rocks for Bass, you dont need a hugely long rod i have found a 9ft plenty. I expect the one you won is a 20-60g casting weight? Cheers for the feedback
  10. So do either of you use the Bushwhacker? It has fantastic reviews and a few times I have used one its feel very nice. I want it for bass this summer
  11. 50p with guts in as they come from the game dealer!!
  12. Nah there is just two, they must be running around alot to keep warm in that snow
  13. Anyone use one of these for bass, pike, plugging? I am after a 8/6 one 15-40g Any reviews info? Regards Sirius
  14. Because he mentions that he doesn't want a spaniel or cocker for personal reasons lol I missed that lol A mate of mine who s a keeper has a spaniel x pat which works well in cover no problem at all, its tough as old boots, it will try to go to ground though, but just to big and wont stay.
  15. Why is everyone recommending a x? A good spaniel or cocker will bush all day for the lurchers?
  16. If its a pup use Cod Liver Oil as it will help with calcium absoption. But like MOL rightly said if its a puppy its nothing to worry about, the reason is the pup is growing and the skin is expanding /growing at quite a rate and the old skin cells are being shed. Nothing to worry about and all normal stuff, its just you notice it on a black coated dog more. Good Luck.
  17. I thought Offa's Dyke was built to stop this kind of pilage from the welsh Looks a good haul.
  18. I tried the Limp Wrist Strapon but i didnt like it much
  19. It's all down to the individual IMO. I kill'em if they need killing, but in some spots I wont bother to bust my balls digging holes for baby rabbits every five minutes when I dont need to, it just aint my idea of fun. I live about as south as you can go, and I have been ferreting every week all winter and I have not caught a baby rabbit since August
  20. Thats the height I use also, to many people set them too high, its not needed and its more to lug around Also most longnets are not sold with end pins, make sure you get some of those, Bridport nets sell them They are essential.
  21. Just feed them as per normal, all this starving idea is as out of date as feeding bread and milk and muzzling ferrets. Move on and forget the old tales, give em normal rations
  22. Love the slow cooker or otherwise known as "the electric wife" Fry everything quickly to seal it and start it off, chuck it in the slow cooker with a good amount or stock/beer/sauce etc and let it cook!! Mol, I think your doing something wrong as after 5 hours veg should be proper soft and well cooked, maybe get a new slow cooker or if it has a low/high setting try the high one
  23. To be honest with nets and alike, being shown first hand really is the best way, may see if you can find someone local to show you, or maybe ask someone at the game fairs over the summer.
  24. Nice read I really enjoyed reading that. I must admit I don't get travelling enough, but I must say I am lucky where I am game wise! Good hunting Sirius
