  1. I have been before and it's a good hunt show
  2. It's generally not very effective using topical treatments (shampoo etc) You are better of adding some high quality oil in the feed, best are Evening Primrose Oil or/and fish oils, this is easy done by added oily fish into the diet, mackeral, sardines, pilchards etc. If its a black smooth dog it will always look worse.
  3. Great game fair, I bought some lava bread.
  4. Aint that the truth, I posted one maybe 5-6 years ago on moochers and the following week I opened the CMW to only find the same pic illustrating someones advert!!? I guess it could of been worse, and a large © placed through the image does make it far less appealing to' right click save image' members of a forum. Edited to add I enjoyed the read BLACKWATER and keep posting
  5. I think worker to worker you will have a good chance of some good pups, but still down to the owner to put the time in to bring the dog on!! my own view is the sire must be top class proven! the dam although must be a worker its not as important as i have seen average track dog through good lurcher pups in the past!!! Thats all very well and I totally agree on worker to worker, but lets not forget bad conformation as that is not down to the 'owner'. With genetics things can pop up and make what would be(or is) a 'good worker' a failer due to physical problems which again will effect the %
  6. Just dont do to much to young IMO. and plenty of variation. Biking a dog in hot weather is also not a great idea, so wait for cool times of day (not a prob at the moment with this weather). A dog needs rest days as much as it needs excercise it's equally important to really get fitness on and to let the muscles develope and repair themselves.
  7. Thats a pretty good pub Sparky, had a few ales in there over the years I am away that weekend otherwise I would be at the show
  8. Yes some can be fluffy while young, but I must say that looks exceptionally fluffy and I have seen quite few whippet pups. I am sure it will work out.
  9. £3 a tripe roughly...... Lamb necks, ribs and chicken carcass.. FREE
  10. Interesting coat on the last white pup? The price is about right for a KC whip, infact its about the lower end of the scale for a pet/working whippet. Good luck selling your pups.
  11. Jagd means 'Hunt' Did you import the dog youself ? It does look a nice stamp of dog, funny to see one in the UK as most of the blood used to create this breed came from UK working terriers in the first place.
  12. Very good jackets, very warm, silent and pretty hard wearing, however they are heavier than many jackets and not ideal when you walk long distances. Mine has survived 2 seasons so far with only one small barb wire tear, so that good going for a jacket.
  13. Have any of the minshaw bred dogs done well in the southern counties of England? I mean amassed the same sort of bags on hare and rabbit? It's nice to see some well worked dogs which are obviously bred for the job.
  14. Well you can argue wether a non ped or ped is better for ever . However I would say often that a good ped is a better more robust animal and far better to look at (no thats looks are essential whatsoever) than the equivalent non ped sized animal. They also are generally a far more evenly bred lot (well good ones are)Many non Peds look snipey headed, pricked eared roach backed and often narrow on the chest and leggy, but there is so much variation it's hard to compare IMO. Saying that I can't say I have seen as many non Peds compared to the thousands of kc whippets I have seen over the years.
  15. Great little dogs, and yes I think there current popularity in working circles is leading to people obviously cashing in on them. As Chartpolski rightly says, the working and showing does still go hand in hand with this breed. However IMo many of the so called working types lack quality, due to the market being flooded with certain dogs bred for £ not quality or working ability.
  16. Maybe something from working parentage is a good idea wether small or big. I hav found when lamping rabbits small dogs 20 and under they do hav limitations visibility wise a couple of inches can make alot of difference, lol
  17. Each to there own, and if it works for you great. Personally i am no fan of too much pasturised milk for dogs, its pretty pointless, however I have found RAW unpasturised farm milk dogs tolorate slightly better.
  18. If all is OK physically, then cut the food right back to a 1/3 of the usual amount, let the dog have acess to it for a few minutes if its turns it nose up take it away and try again next feed time. The bitch will come back on to the 1/3 of the amount and from there on in slowly and mean slowly increase it back up, if she turns her nose up, cut it back down again. As Sandymere says a healthy dog wont starve its self, and dont start chopping and changeing food stuff you will make a rod for your own back.
  19. I often do a 'fast' day when I remember, it doesnt do any harm to give them a rest now and agai. I generally feed once or twice a day 7 days a week especially in the winter.
  20. A well balanced fresh food diet will always be superior to dry food from my experience, there are many benefits to both the animal and the owner. The key is a good varied selection of meat, bones offal and vegetable matter. Good luck to however you feed your dog, after all they will survive on very poor diets, but if we are talking dogs in top condition a natural diet has alot of advantages. The differnce is vast and very similar to eating a well balanced home cooked dinner yourself or eating a processed meal like a pot noodle. Although you will survive on both you know w
  21. There is no way you can judge a show as a working dog show, as we should all know that a worker can only be judged in its field of work. Work wise it needs to be seen with your own eyes not what the person on the end of lead tells you it done at a show as they bring it into the ring  Missing teeth, scars and foot injuries dont mean the dogs and a good worker thats for sure. Maybe showst should be seen as a oppotunity to catch up with a few folk now and again
  22. He hunts PBGV's, teckels and there crosses for rabbits with a few other breeds in the pack also, i have had a few days out and its top sport.
