  1. The pits in south Yorkshire had poles working in them when I started in 1977 .
  2. As a Yorkshire miner who was in the strike I can honestly say that I thought Scargill was every bit as much a cnut as thatcher ever was. He could have ended the strike long before he did with a better result. I would be interested to see the minutes of all the meetings him and his cronies had during the strike. His main aim was to try and oust the Tory government so the union puppet party could be reinstated and keep the unions in power . When you were in amongst it it was unbeleivable how much corruption and self serving you saw among union men. Look at scargilll now suing the n.u.m for
  3. The spun poly doesn't pick up half as much crap as the 4z mate . What it does pick up is a lot easier to get out.
  4. No. Never done it in 45 years of owning ferrets.

  6. Know it well and its not as high as it looks in the film.I remember seeing the film [bANNED TEXT] it first come out before reading the book at secondry school my eldest grandson who's at secondry school has being doing a project on it even though he lives in a former pit village i had to exsplain in detail wat the pit was god how times have changed.. Don't know if you've seen it lately but its virtually tumbled down now. Surrounded by site fencing . Piece where nest was in the film fell down years ago.
  7. Read kes and Macbeth for my English literature exam. Only lived a couple of miles from where he gets his bird from. When the film came out out everybody who went birds egging knew the building. There was a queue to climb it.lol . Janet and john were my primary school reading books. I think you're showing your age boys admitting to reading these.
  8. Well done mate. The enjoyment factor is the most important thing about it. I spent my youth. Scratching for the odd rabbit locally . Then started going up the dales getting up a day . Now I live down in Cornwall I'm back to scratching for one or two. I still enjoy it every bit as much. Big numbers are fine but a good day with good company can't be beaten by any amount of rabbits.
  9. That's a good day out Kev. Can't beat a good craic on a day out . A few bunnies is a bonus. Was the running technique learnt watching old tapes of Linford Christie.
  10. I will take the wellies and locator but you can scrap the rest

  13. We ferret a piece of land with permission from the landowner who also has a indicate shoot on his land. The only rule is we are not allowed on when they are having a shooting day. S o I would say he has every right to give you permission .
  14. I was fishing off trevose head last year and got washed off by a freak wave. After getting chucked onto the rocks then back into the water three or four times by the swell I managed to get hold and pull myself out. I kept thinking this is it every time I went under the water. Trevose is not a good place to go for a swim. As a true yorkshireman though I never let go of my rod and reel. To expensive to leave at the bottom of the ocean.
  15. i'll second that!. Sounds good to me.
