I accept that these zones can affect the lives of local fishermen etc but studying projects like those adopted on the Isle of Arran and around the Isle of Lundy, The only two that are at the moment in existence. surely this can only benefit nursery areas where the wildlife has a sanctuary to replenish the creatures that have been harvested to near extinction giving them time to recover. Personally I believe such areas do need to exist around the British isles or future generations will not be able to harvest the sea or for that matter recreational activities such as fishing will not happen

A mate of mine got bit with a snake once while having a shite, it struck the back of his bollocks. we were way out in the wilds in Scotland he said ring for the emergency helicopter as the snake was an adder. I rang up the emergency services on my mobile and the doctor said that he could not get to us for at least 4 hrs and that if I didnt make an incision with my knife and suck out the poison my mate would be dead within 1/2 hr. When I went back to see how my mate was doing he said what did the doc say. so I told him he said you will be dead in 1/2 hr. .

Thats what you call a biggy. well done that lad , I bet theres a few lads out there envious of that trophy head incl myself I might add. Body weight wise he dosent look to big either which is strange as usually bucks that carry huge heads are proportionate , but the piccy could be deceptive. But what a cracker. Cheers Stu

One thing to keep in mind is that there's more to knife performance than the steel. The blade profile is also important (a tanto format isn't the best choice to skin a deer, for example). But perhaps most important is the heat treatment. A good solid heat treatment on a lesser steel will often result in a blade that outperforms a better steel with inferior heat treatment. Bad heat treatment can cause a stainless steel to lose some of its stainless properties, or cause a tough steel to become brittle, etc. Unfortunately, of the three most important properties (blade profile, steel type, heat tr

Next time you want to drill a blank get a cobalt drill bit instead of a High speed steel one and drill it with a very slow drill machine pref. bench drill where you will have more control of the pressure which should not be to much but not to light and stop and let the drill and workpiece cool down at regular intervals. All you will do with a normal high speed drill is case harden the surface and burn the bit out running at high speed. Cheers Stu

No hard feelings one bit bit Matt, The guy asked for advice, hell fire I gave it to him him he pleases himself if he wishers to take it ,I certainly care not a jot , As I am not trying to sell anything to him ,he looses nothing etc knowledge . My knives work a treat and certainly hold their edge . it must be how i am not using them correctly as you say, the deer dont seem to be complaining as its being gralloched or at least i havent heard one say bloody hell thats blunt . Cheers Mate Stu -
I am sick to the teeth of replacing my front flip up guard on my scope, it never happens that the back one gets broken but I am constantly replacing the front one on my Tikka M55 22-250 toped out with a pecar variable 4-10. I certainly dont abuse my gear and I can never remember catching anything with it to break it. These Butler Creek flip ups in my view are crap they need to re design or make them out of a material that will stand regular use. The alternatives are alloy ones at 3 times the price and from where they have broken at the pivot I cant see the aluminium ones fairing an

any tips on sharpening the gut hook on my buck 276

My knifes are all hand made out of German white steel that has a exceptionally high chromium content and are or were used as doctor sighting blades for precision machiners working to thousands of an inch on bench test equiptment. The same steel as used in Krupp german cut throat razors. Other than in the manufacture of the blade they have never seen a grinder or ever will. I can and do shave my face with my knifes and I should add they get more stick than any average person could put one to in the hunting field. Some of my knives have gralloched over 300 deer taking of legs etc and gutti -

The best way is to get their nutts between your thumb nails and squeeze like hell they immediately suck back anything they have ingested in your blood stream and withdraw their mouth parts from under your skin, they definitely dont like their bollocks crushed thats for sure. Seriously lymes disease is on the increase not all ticks carry it and it emanates from when the ticks been on a vole or mouse then when it ingests blood from its host it transfers the lymes borriela to its recipricant.. The desease affects the nervous system and can kill so should not be treated lightly those who h

Add to that mis selling PPI to individual customers. Time to declare them all bankrupt, close them down, jail those pulling the strings and open brand new banks and start from scratch.
