If your prepared to travel and prepared to muck in with habitat work as well we are at the moment doing a scheme where participants are rewarded by being taken out stalking in return it will cost you nothing. Only thing is the earliest vacancies now due to the uptake on the scheme is September Further details of the scheme can be found here at http://deerstalking-uk.com/ Cheers Stu

Here Is A&somersets Version Of Aolq Back From Renewal Today

I'm afraid chap you are not understanding the conditions written on your certificate. The condition you quote is the standard expanding ammunition that everyone has and has no bearing on what you may shoot with your rifle/s. You can only shoot what your rifle conditions say. I understand quite clearly what I am allowed to shoot they are listed in 1 to 9 of the FC the additional condition I quote 10 is the relevant one in respect to all wildlife. LOL -
Rifle For Fox And Roe Recommendations Please ???
Caprelous replied to dax17's topic in Deer Stalking & Management
Thanks for the info only question I would ask is what you feel is an extreme range ? I'm in the belief that t3 22-2250 would be accurate to 350-400 yards before it moves much. Am I thinking along the right lines ? The 22-250 is one of the flattest shooting rifles there is in standard caliber without going wildcat. and exceptionally accurate out to 300 yds although personally i would not shoot at live quarry out at those kind of ranges as my own personal limit with any rifle i call time at 180yds the caliber is capable of doing more i accept but those are my personal shooting standar -
Rifle For Fox And Roe Recommendations Please ???

I use a Tikka M55 contenental barrel medium weight with no silencer in 22-250 calbre with 50grn HPs superb on Roe in Scotland and also foxes not so many calibers can match it for flat trajectory but looses out at extreme ranges Had it 30 years now and it still shoots well -

Good luck with that one. Using a .243 would be an instant cure for constipation me thinks on boar and make sure you have your speedy gonzalex brothel creepers on , because you will need them Me being a chicken I would have thought .50 cal being more appropriate in stopping one. I like the stopping power of a .270 but I question if its enough gun when it comes to some of these buggers. Cheers Stu -

Not quite true It can be out of season but you can legally shoot it under licence such as directed by the SNH so your action would be legal Under the license it would be lawful to shoot the deer, but take away that License and it would be UNLAWFUL to shoot a LEGAL quarry. So would it be legal for me to shoot a Red Stag with my 223,as it state's any legal quarry,? No because it dosent meet the reqd velocity and muzzle energy reqd by the deer act. and also min bullet weight. Firearms and ammunition The stalker must only use a rifle and ammunition which are legal for the species -

When mine came back about 12 months ago I questioned why had wild boar not been included on the certificate as I hade made a request for it to be included. The acting FAO said that the wording OTHER WILDLIFE covered all wildlife not just boar so effectively he claimed it left the certification of use on any at my discretion. To be honest as you say its all a minefield theoretically according to the wording on mine a could go hunting shrews or field mice with my 270. seems a bit hit an miss this open boar authority depending which areas you are with in my view. -

Interesting wording that Nothing like what it says on mine. at condition 10 it reads The holder pf this certificate is permitted to posses, purchase or aquire expanding ammunition and the missiles for such ammunition and to use expanding ammunition in connection with the reasons as indicated below, within the confines of any other condition imposed upon the use of the weapon. The Lawful shooting of deer. The Shooting of vermin or in the course of carrying on activities in connection with the management of any estate, Other wildlife, The humane killing of animals. Really? You think so? He led us through the early part of the time that McMillan described as 'never had it so good'. Ended rationing (Atlee failed miserably to get production up enough), and did some other good stuff. Sadly, he was really passed it by then; Eden took over and made a mess of Suez. Personally, I think he would have made a good job of our post war recovery if he'd been given a chance. Sadly, the electorate believed the spin of the then Labour leader Atlee, much the same as they did with bLiar. Oh and without resurrecting the Thatcher thread, just a reminder tha

It all boils down to we all have somewhere either Scottish or Yorkshire blood in our veins and we are all as tight as cramp. We all think we are being robbed and we all want it for nothing or in some cases to be paid for doing it. LOL Its human nature yet when you try to give it away know one wants it. LOL they all think its a catch LOL This Stalking game cracks me up good style. Your Either a miserable b*****d or a Robbing one. you cant win

I would have thought if you owned a boat with me once having one and can empathize with you . and the money it costs in marina fees or mooring fees , the charge made by stalking establishments would be small change in partaking in your chosen sport. LOL.

Are you saying by your inference that a client should not pay for the carcass if the client shot it. I should point out that most stalking enterprises have to pay for a stalking lease which is set by the forest companies and in some cases costs many thousands of pounds, not all but most. If they are running stalking as a business on top of that they have to carry public liability insurance should they take out clients which dosent come cheap. Also a requirement on most leases. the revenue from the carcass costs goes a small way and I state a small way in offsetting the running and

To me what you have said is spot on,scotland is particularly bad for this,I they have in my mind started to price out the ordinary stalker, always looking for them visiting dutch or german visiting stalkers, who get particularly well fleeced at times, and when it comes to paying for there skills, well having 28 yrs stalking under the belt I find woodland stalking a lot more challenging/and satisfying than hill stalking, and trust me there's plenty of very expierienced stalkers in this country who never bothered with DSC, I cant disagree with most of what you say and I for one would never

Rant away my friend. The clients I have are satisfied if you want my time you pay if you dont then fine its a client that I would not have had anyhow. That also applies to the hours I am loosing not getting paid for in my job while I am taking would be clients out who benefit from my 32 years experience that I have in deerstalking, But hey Oh you get nowt for nothing in this life as I have found out, . On another note If you want some free stalking you will have to put some hours in yourself on a scheme that we are running for lads who havent got the cash and would sooner put some hours

That never happens if ones shot early the stalk continues as I usually take them onto another stalking area thats not been disturbed by the shot. My agreement /contract is for 3 hrs of my time I on my part honour my contractual obligation if the client breaks the contract and wishes to terminate the agreement then he compensates me for any loss I sustain through his actions. Its understood by all they are paying me for 3 hours of my time no more no less and I instruct which animals are culled , usually I instruct before the client sets a foot on the ground if its bucks ,what age etc th
