Would it. I've had salmon up to 16lb on the fly,but the best fight i've had with a fish on the fly was the 5.5lb sea trout I caught in the summer.

The rabbits in the top pic come out from the plantation on the left.The rabbit circled was shot at 46 yards. In the bottom pic the rabbits come into the field from the quarry.The rabbit arrowed was shot at 43 yards and I was leaning on a cattle trough.

Can't believe there's any truth in that story wood smoke. It'll be interesting to see what others have to say.

Against my better judgement I decided to go for a few hours on the DGAA this afternoon. I spent 3 hours battling against strong winds and driving rain but was rewarded for my efforts with a 7 pounder that took the worms.When I called it a day at 4pm it was the only fish that was caught,not surprisingly there were only a handfull of madmen out. One of them was even fishing the fly. Here's the fish.

With it being the ideal weather for a walk out with the beam I was on the blower to Jimmy. He picked me up at 7.30pm and while I was putting on my wellies Jimmy piped up "I think Bob wants to drive tonight". Bob had jumped over the back seat and then onto the drivers seat and was sitting there quite the thing. When we got to our ground we entered the first field which held nothing.The second field was more productive[wouldn't be hard], Bob had 4 runs and got the 4 of them. By the sounds of it your dog has had what is sometimes known as acidosis. Basically your dog has over exerted itself, this can happen if the dog isn't fit enough for the work it's asked to do or having a few runs too many at the end of a hard days coursing or nights lamping.Skycat has described what happens regarding the lactic acid build up. Quite often the next day the dog will have trouble getting up off it's bed as it's back and hind leg muscles become sore.Over the course of the next few days the muscles get sorer and the dogs back becomes hard and the dog has trouble getting about. It's all too easy to highlight the bad elements in any fieldsport, as Inside Out did last night with the lampers and you have done with the shooters smashy.The thing is it's the minority that get the rest of us a bad name,far better for us not to highlight these clowns and try and stick together. You say "if a dog runs something it's got a chance", but a shooters response might be, "what chance did the badger have with 4 dogs on it?" Do you see where i'm coming from?

It's deffo not muggy up here sandymere. I've just stood and watched one of my boys for 2 hours at his football training. After half an hour I had to go back to the car and get my wooly hat.

Patience on your part is all that's needed ukhunter.You don't say how many times the pup has been out but i'd hazzard a guess at not many. Keep taking him out and showing him rabbits in the beam and walk him in to them if you can,I gaurantee that your pup will soon realise that where the beam shines there could be a rabbit.

Had the ears been cut/chewed off or were they folded/rolled down? I shot a youngish one in the summer which I thought had no ears but when I was gutting it I noticed it's ears were infact complete. Somehow they had become rolled/folded down. I wish i'd taken a pic.
