  1. I agree will.f11, i've had mine for at least 15 years and in that time it's done thousands of rabbits. Mind you the blades not as big as it was.
  2. I gave one of mine a handslip last Tuesday Franny,he'll be in the boxes this tuesday as will the old dog,if he doesn't come of sound then he's retired. What happened to the Gretna derby winner in the Armadale derby?
  3. hahahaha, lol, it was craig, a little hard to see where as i was going, as it was dark... You'll not be used to lamping in the dark, will you. Not with your history. http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/index...t=0&start=0 Why do you feel the need to start such pointless threads? Have you got an attention seeking syndrome.
  4. iv used one there not that heavy The rifle itself weighs just short of 9lbs, once you've added the mounts and a scope it'll be over 9lbs. I would class that as heavy, especially for a 13 year old.
  5. His dam was,-Bedlington/Whippet X Greyhound and his sire was a mix of,-Greyhound,Collie,Whippet and Bull.

  7. I couldn't help myself with the topic title Bob's on the job as my youngest son Brodie who's 2 is hooked on Bob the builder and I must hear "Bob's on the job" all day long. Anyway back to tonight, with rain falling and a decent blow I went round to Jimmy's and we took his dog Bob out for a shine. Bob missed the first rabbit but then took the next three. I thought the rabbits were running pretty poorly and when we checked them two of them had a touch of mixy. We saw two foxes in the second field,Bob hasn't been introduced to "charlie" yet but Jimmy is keen for him to have a go.I tried

  10. My mate had been on at me for a couple of weeks to come down with his bitch for a bit of lamping. He arrived at 7.45pm and we were in the first field with his bitch Megan at 8pm, Megan is collie/grey X bedlington/grey and is 16 months old. He has been taking her up the hill for long ears but has been finding them hard to come across hence the reason he was wanting to give her a blow out on the beam. This was Megan's first taste of lamping so we knew what to expect. The first field held a decent number of rabbits but every time I had one lit up in the beam Megan was looking elsewhere, which I
  11. It works mate, I had 3 salmon/grilse today using that set up.
  12. Bait controllers are made out of hollow plastic tubing with a swivel inserted at the top and lead weight at the bottom. Some have interchangeable leads so you can alter the weight, they can vary in length from 2" up to 6" or 7". The running link is attatched to the swivel at the top of the tube and the air that's trapped in between the swivel and the lead keeps the bait controller upright. I find them very effective both for worming and for fishing the floating devon minnow. Scroll down on the link below untill you get to "bouncing betties", they are bait controllers. http://www.fishing
  13. Here's my set up, a size 2 or 4 specimen carp hook tied onto 15lb of maxima nylon. At the other end of the nylon is a normal swivel. The main line is 20lb braid, onto this is a sliding link and a rubber ball. I always worm for salmon using bait controllers which I attach to the sliding link this lets the salmon take the worm without any resistance from the weight as the line slides through the sliding link. The advantage of using this set up is you can change bait controllers going lighter or heavier as river conditions dictate. Here's one I got yesterday.
  14. Have a look here.- http://www.trout-salmon-fishing.com/flyfishing-knots.htm Scroll down untill you get to the water knot.

  17. That was a good session you had there mate. You're still a fair way off the Brittish record however, it stands at 4lb 3oz. There are plenty of Grayling over 3lbs up here in the Nith and the Annan. The pic below shows a Grayling that was caught in the Annan this year which weighed 4lb 2oz.
  18. Ian..........put the ferret cage at a low level so dog can sniff right up to the cage wire and go nose to nose with the ferrets........they will soon get used to each other.........always works for me. My beddie whippet and the ferrets quite happily work with each other and i have never had a problem in any way over many years of working dogs and ferrets together. Regards Rolfe That reminds me of something that happened over 20 years ago. I'd just been given a big hob and when I say big I mean big, anyway my lurcher bitch at that time was used to ferrets and they were used to
  19. If I've got an order for live rabbits then I use purse nets but if it's for sport i'd prefer to bolt them for the lurchers. On average once a week through the season. I have in the past made my own nets but have enough now that I don't need to buy or make any.
