  11. Only way you'd do well off 10 acres is to open a scrappie, breaking cars is a gold mine, all cash! Bit of red tape involved with regulations tho!! I have a few acres aswell but ya wont make a living from a small amount like 10 acres by farming it, unless you get some of them geese that lay them golden eggs!!! Another positive is you have the pond already so its a win win with the geese!!! Lol Atb mate

  15. the only risk assessments ive ever done are ones relating to specific tasks at work (several every day) and they are all about the individuals involved in carrying out a specific task safely..... im sure there are different types of risk assessments but if a farmer is asking for one before the chap goes ferriting im sure its related to the task he is going doing and not the general public or other people...... just my opinion...
  16. Im not a million miles from ye either in seven kings....or little india as i call it, and i agree, london is a shit hole!!! I live for my time off to go home to greener pastures!!!
  17. Basically a risk assessment is weighing up all the risks involved, i.e trip hazards, falling from a height if up on a bank, open excavations and malarki like that, risks you think you may possibly encounter during your course of action. Then do a list of precautions you will take to minimise or counteract the risks, i.e appropriate tools, manning an opened hole and not leaving it unattended, approprate safty footwear for digging, gloves and so on.... A risk assesment is an arse covering exercise for employers or owners. You list the risks involved, somthing happens and you havent taken the pre
  18. Dont know if its the same stuff mate but i get bags of greaves, dried flesh and bits of bone through it. I soak it the night before and mix it with there nuts and they love it, do really well on it.

  20. And unless they grant us permission we'd all be f**ked wouldn't we.... Most of them gain nothing by letting lads in to hunt and have everything to loose if you have an accident..... Lets not forget the main thing needed to work any dog....farmers and Land!!!
  21. A dog deemed to be WORRYING any livestock is reason enough to sllow a farmer to shoot it, be it chickens, sheep, goats, cattle, horses, doesn't matter. Worrying needn't neccessarily be chasing either! On the other hand i do feel for farmers who loose sheep to dogs. 99% of the time its non working pet dogs let run loose around the place and go on the prowl at night. Another case i know of it turned out to be his own sheep dog was a rogue and started killing at night after working them perfect during the day!! I was reading three cases of dog attacks on sheep in the farmers journal this wee

  23. The pics that go up weather they are legally taken in ireland or shot in uk makes no great odds, all will be used against us to potray us as barbaric hunters who flaunt the law and disrespect the ban, and are cruel. The ones using the pics in the future wont be explaining that they were legally taken in ireland or flushed to guns and humainly dispatched..... There are some forms of fox control still legal and under constant threat so best not do ourselves harm when its not totally neccessary.... Yes Its great to see pics on here and the great shots some lads get but we will enjoy looking at th
  24. Thanks FD. I ain' got a vice mate but I will know a man who has. I will post a pic up of it as soon as I can just to be sure. Sounds like you have the right picture in your mind Was out with the pup earlier doing a bit of exploring. Met a lad I have bumped into a few times now in the early hours. He had his young hawk with him and his battery was flat, so I gave him ago of the K50 and what a sight with the hawk flying down the beam. The hawk missed it's prey as the rabbit looked like it entered a hole. The hawk landed in a tree about 400 yards away and we could see it clearly. Gave a few sha
