  1. different country, different laws mate, 76 in southern ireland, 1985 northern ireland, england and wales 1978 and 1982 i think,
  2. i have known of a similar story perthshire keeper, my uncle reared a couple from pups down through the years amazing to see how tame they get, this was before the protection act of 1976. a license could be obtained to hunt otters in ireland for a period after this act, but if memory serves me right the packs agreed to stop hunting otters and instead all agreed to change to hunting mink as they were vermin and no licence needed, and like all good sporting hunters if the species was in danger they should be rightly left alone......here in munster it has been documented to have one of the healthi
  3. If you want to see it that bad get yourself on holidays mate, they are still hunted in some foreign countries i believe and you can experience whats what then....
  4. Otters operate different to other ground game. They tend to hold and chew rather than snap, can do alot of damage in a short time if the circumstances are suiting him. When put in by hounds in bygone years and didnt want to move they could test any terrier and alot would be fired out the same hole they entered in fine style!!!
  5. two fine looking hounds mate, the 22month old one looks a very impressive animal,
  6. Best of luck, seems a bit pricey to me tho for a second hand single axle trailer,
  7. first poll ive seen yet where we are actually in the lead! keep asking everyone you know to vote and use as many friends phones or computers to vote as many times as ye can. may not mean much but at least it will show majority say no if we keep the lead up.
  8. Im living beside a small river here, there are loads of them about here. See them very regular, they can be heard whistling most nights around here. Lovely animal for sure. They can be a nuisance when the mink hounds hunt the river, they seem to be everywhere!!! Luckily the huntsman has great manners on the pack and can call them off pretty quick..... Takes a good terrier to shift one if it doesn't want to leave ive been told from yester year......
  9. Its just a different sence of humour! If you read enough of jonny muddler's posts it pretty clear he is a good judge of character and knowledgeable chap about dogs and hunting... Thats the impression i got anyway.
  10. I have a very decent normal mans vet practice here by me, everything is as cheap as it can be got, this year i went in for all the boosters, i buy the doses and do myself. He said as you did walshie that they are reccommending the two part jab again every year, dogs have come into him with jawndus and lepto even after the boosters so they are recommending giving double jab every year as the booster doesn't appear to be as effective as it used to be. I think it worked out at 12 euro per dog for the two doses.
  11. Not the same man but a couple of rattlers that are common in the itish country pubs!
  12. Lol, ahh your gone cracked! A public house is where ya go to be sociable.... You may as well be at home if you only want to sit at the fire and drink a pint!!!
  13. I agree max, fantastic to not only hear but see that enviroment. Its a homely welcoming traditional public house, just as they were ment to be!! Few and far between now as you say and a dying trade mores the pity. He is a proper multi tasker serving and singing so well without losing a note!!

  15. Super saw, them and huskys are the same saw, all parts interchange on same modles. We run husky, (266xp) jonsered (2055 turbo) and an old stihl (038 farm boss). Huskys are the fastest running of all the saws. Few lads from round here are over at timber in germany and all they use are big huskys with small bars, fastest combination possible.
  16. All we've used for the last 30 odd year in the saws is used engine oil outta the cars after servicing them. Run it through a pair of tights to strain it and its perfect. And to be fair we cut a fair bit!
  17. Spot on post above, unless you are very organised and have heaps of permission in every direction from where you draw with them you will only bring trouble on yourself, its a great sport but not somthing that can be tried half heartedly or without a good knowledge of hounds and hunting them first.
  18. foxbolter are your trying to compare yourself to the man down the road and get a little pat on the back and a few likes???? Grow up man, we all know you breed your own few terriers and pass around between yourselves, but every terrier topic on here has that said in it somplace so your not as quite about it as "the man down the road".....
  19. Watco concrete refinisher could be worth a try, impressive stuff.
  20. That's all well and cut but posting on the internet saying you can't afford to treat a working dog injury?Piss take. Shouldn't keep dogs.Get a hamster.Just saw this post by you rew, if i had of seen it earlier i dont know if id have made my offer, if you choose to cut your shifts so you can get out with the dogs you choose the live with the consequenses of not having much money.... I didn't realise you were part time by choice... I'll be dammed if im puttin in stupid hours to pay a bill for a chap that chooses the ideal life, and especially at your age..... Atb and hope the dog makes a full
  21. Fair play mate, glad the dog is on its way back to former glory! But as has been said full time for a young fella like you is the way to go unless your born into money which 99% of us aren't, its only right that if your young fit and able you should be working a full week!! Its all well and good having time to be out with the dogs but if somthing happens and you need money its a ball ache constantly peddling and robbing peter to pay paul to get by.... Its just the way this big bad world works, you get out what you put in applies to everything. I think we'd all love to be out more with the dogs
