Bad Foot Injury, Flesh Wound Down To Bone
fox digger replied to FERRETBOY's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
In fairness you would see worse, its the area behind the pad on her rear foot is it? Pm me if you cant get sorted with money for vets, might be able to sort somthing to help you, nice to see young lads involved in this game rather than goin down the wrong road!! If you sus out a good ordinary mans vet or greyhound vet they are going to be working mans prices, -

spot on the only thing i wanted to gain by posting in this topic was what was the general perseption of a bolting terrier atb mate.
-
pretty much exactly what i said a couple of posts back...... so do you think different performances or working styles underground have a bearing on weather a bolt is more likely than a dig? I don't have enough experience to comment mate, foxes want away in my limited experience unless they have nowhere to go. I find it hard however to get my head round that a terrier worthy of the name has made a concious decision to "let" a fox bolt.......that just sounds like it lacks courage to me. But as the post above shows, it's hard to make generalisations. thats fair enough, im far fr

Too right, highest its been in 7 and a half years, i changed a good bit yesterday to euros and get a great deal, 1.35 with thomas exchange, were best around and rang everywhere! so 10k sterling gets ya 13,500 euros.... Makes the wages pretty good when converted to euros!

Bihelmen And Canindon Wormers
fox digger replied to downsouth's topic in Working Dog Health & Training Talk
I use the biheldon and never had any bother with them, dosing 20 odd dogs with them this past 12 months. -
An aquantence of mine did similar about 20 yrs ago( no mobiles then)his brother found him following day...too late, left wife and youngsters behind Sorry to hear that lad. Wouldn't think its a nice way to go, terrible for his family. I read about a lad many years ago who did that (might even have been your pal),but i'll tell you what it stopped me from ever digging in on a bank on my own ,sad old do for sure but others learnt from their mistakes mate .. Happened to a chap down here about 3 years ago, made the sunday newspapers..... Very misfortunate and a very well know dog man,

He is a tarrier that stays till dug mate.... Fair play to ya!!
-
Ive been thinking about what you were saying about good dogs that are tough enough to finish the job and stay till dug but will leave if you call it.... I haven't ever seen or experienced it but if you were to compare it to shepards, malanois or dutch hearders and the likes who when trained and obedient go from absolute lunatics on commanded, no reverse gear, are full on a show there natural instinct untill told to leave it and they stop on the spot...... So yes, i can see some terriers being able to be called out without neccessarily being uncommitted.
-
I for one never said that.... There are several different different types and styles of the way a terrier works under the sod..... 95% of it will never be seen untill the show settles and you dig there and break through, that the only time you can see whats what. If any terrier of any type or description goes in, works his game to a reasonable standard, isn't sitting back a mile and stayes till dug isn't doing so bad. If you can call it out or not is nothing to do with the effort it puts in in my opinion... Different dogs different ways i suppose. I cant call out any of mine but i can see it
-
Thats just my description of what i think of when a lad says "a bolting terrier". A bolting tarrier should still stay till dug regardless of whats going on down there.... All just MHO
-
no its not, thats just my take on a bolting terrier, one that goes in and bolts more foxes than they have to be dug to.... seems the defination of a bolting terrier is interpreted different by lads on here, my take on it is a dog that consistantly gets the fox to bolt, not one that bolts himself and goes in and out for more 5 mins yapping....one that runs in and out yapping and arsing about or these 15minute dogs as they are referred to aren't imo bolting terriers, they are failed terriers.... a soft terrier that will stay till dug but put on enough pressure to force a bolt but not lock him up
-
i agree with you foxdropper, your point is the dog that lets a fox do its own thing in a hole is a dog lacking bottle. again i totally agree. but what i will say is that i know of a couple of terriers about that are all off the same litter. i have one of them. the bitch that i have off this litter will enter, locate and there will be very little movement once she is on, she will take alot of stick while she is at it and need a bit of rest after but will not come out and will not give him an inch, all is well with this bitch, i have had very few bolts with this bitch, its practically always dig

That's all your going to see of the dog Lucas ? Thing is even the DVD of him he wasn't that great (watched it myself) from what I can see there maybe a lot of truth in all this grabbing or slabbering in Belfast term about this dog Lucas has his own website with several vids of him running on there, and some of his offspring actually, I remember seeing it before but cant think what the page is called now, sure sombody here can stick up a link to the lucas site??

No you wouldn't!! everybody say that lol, but a crack around his head one night with rounders bat prob be more realistic , you soon get to know there routines . the dogs on this post are (hounds) feck knows what happened there , all dogs should be broke to stock , when your out in country , more so a working dog. for me any dog ive owned in the last 30 years are broke to stock, and still show them sheep every day, just to keep on top of them, they see sheep from 9 weeks old - and all time . I don't trust any dog 100% as ive said on these post before , there just dogs not machine

Very true mo chara, old farming couple who own the land that bounds me are salt of the earth, i actually bought my place from them, help you anyway they can, both in there 80's and farmed the same land all there life. They never ran anybody that went on there land all down through the years, might not have neccessarily liked it but left the few that did alone as they would have known them. In the last few years there are alot of younger lads going on there that they dont know and has never approached or asked if it was ok, there have been cattle run through wire on different nights and gates l

Makes me laugh at times the comments on here..... I know some farmers can get trigger happy when it comes to dogs on there land, but i dont think its because they hate dogs and are sadistic c**ts.... 9 out of 10 times is because some asshole with dogs stung them before or done him wrong......only so many times you can ask people to leave your land and get grief before you take drastic measures. But if you are on such a lads farm its obvious you've no permission or didnt clear it with them, end of the day its there land and your fault if anything happens on there as a result of it.... I know a

-
when he comes on here an says sean I told lies about you on 3 different sites calling you a peado...il think about it....I don't give a fcuk who likes it an who dosnt No wonder the name of some dogs get bigged up and talked about, if they are being talked about on 3 different websites....... Some of the proper best ones about will never be mentioned on one site never mind 3..... Is all the publicity a marketing strategy???

Legal Implications Of Cats In My Garden
fox digger replied to Matthew Phillips's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
Lol, oh if i got a quid for all the accidents that have happened with neighbours cats coming into the garden of my home house growing up....The neighbour has since given up getting them!!! I remember my sisters now husband was only just starting to go out with her and it was his first time calling to the house, she brought him in through the back yard as thats the way we all go in and out. Basically we had a trap cage to catch "unwanted predators" set up in the yard and this evening the sisters boyfriend happend to be coming over a "stray cat" had somhow managed to get himself in the unfortuna -
