  7. Length of pull is a primary measurement of gun fit. At 6'4" I'm guessing that you need a longer stock. In lengthening the stock you will alter the secondary measurements of drop at heel (unless its a parallel comb) and cast at toe and heel also. It is these dimensions that affect where the gun shoots, yet often overlooked by "proper"stock fitters. The flip side of this is that most people can adapt to a fair degree to a less than perfect stock fit and shoot well with that gun. However, they will not reach the true potential of their ability or the gun. It's what keeps gun shops in business
  8. the successful choice of shotgun is in the main dependent upon two key factors. Firstly balance/feel. This in the main dictates how the gun handles. How the gun "needs" to handle is dependent upon what its going to be used for. Secondly, the fit of the gun. Because with a shotgun, the shooter is a part of the sighting system (with the eye being the rear sight)good fit is paramount. A novice has very little idea of what good fit is and how a gun should handle. the majority of gun shops don't understand proper gun fit properly either, with the length of stock compared to length of forearm being
  9. beretta or browning. best to go to a clay ground and ask to try a few different types before you buy though. spend £900 and the rest on getting it fitted properly and a lesson or two. Gunshops love boomerang guns, and you will spend/loose a fortune finding the right one. get the fit right is the biggest part of the right gun "problem"

  20. One of mine is like this each spring and late summer. this matches when the sugar levels are highest in grass. Outside of this period he is back to normal. Vets advice is good, but if possible, try feeding them earlier than usual, or smaller meals more often. I looked into it, and have heard mention of grass eating causing excess stomach acid production. on an empty stomach this can lead to the grumbling sounds and discomfort., that causes the dog to search for grass to try and settle that discomfort. vicious circle! Antacids and regular/more appropriate feeding help break that cycle. Goo

  22. Some folk dont have the stamina of their dogs! feckin' lightweights!

  23. dont see the need to keep more than 3 dogs maximum. A pup thats been brought on, a dog in its prime and a pensioner thats earned its place by the fire. By my reckoning that's a dog every 4 to 5 years. that period of time is more than enough to pin down the breeding of your next charge.
