  1. sat out enjoying a beer yesterday. made a nice change to be in the sun doing nowt! Sister dropped her jack russell off to destroy the peace. then the dogs got distracted by an interloper on the back field! it didnt hang around for long
  2. take your caps lock off. It makes you sound like an angry collie. However I agree where your coming from
  3. I live in the back of beyond. If somebody comes on our yard, having ignored the signs, put up with the angry collie, calmed the lurcher and not got gripped by the yard dog, then I would be under a threat and I would have no option than to let the wife out of the cabinet. She speaks the international language. Limited. Admittedly, but effective
  4. For me I'd want a noisy collie that also made a "nuisance" of itself and and silent but deadly powerhouse. DEFCON 1 and 2. DEFCON 3 is in the gun cabinet. Better known as "the wife"
  5. You really have to love a land rover to put up with their faults. They are shit cars but great vehicles. I've a 2011 90. Not let me down to date, and it gets some stick, and I wouldn't change it
  6. The existing model won't meet crash and emission regulations from 2015. The cost of production is ridiculous. So they have little choice.
  7. They fecked it off in 2012. Nobody liked it
  8. Which Gamba is it? The first initial will give some idea and a photo would be even better
  9. That's the theory, but new blood (proven)/outcross of similar type wouldn't do much harm. Theory is great but performance in the field is what counts. Just enjoy your pup for what it is. A well bred dog, that given time, understanding and dedication may well match up to its forebears. And if it don't, then just enjoy it anyway. It's inbred, what did you expect ;0)
  10. Not sure either!? That's deffo got bull in it, it's all about the eyes And I thought it was all about the collar!
  11. Plenty of line bred ferreting dogs out there, but their owners/ breeders tend to keep quiet about it. That pup of yours has a long and proven history behind it, bred to fix performance.
  12. Don't you mean Phloxes? I dug out a few old Plummer books recently, and IMO most of what he wrote was fantasy and dreams. Not knocking him as he can't defend himself. As I've said, I've always been a collie x supporter, and the best I've known have had summat else in the mix. As a hunters type, rather than a slippers type dog they add far more than just brains. For me it's the mental and physical robustness that the best specimens exhibit that stands the test of time.
  13. Depends on your expectations. I've been around collies and collie x's all my life, and when it comes down to the nitty gritty, when adding collie into a hunting dog, brains don't always pass on. Having followed this thread like many, when it comes down to "brains" in a lurcher, many don't know the difference between brains and "game sense".
  14. Not far from me, and I heard that someone had a word in in ear, all polite and that
  15. Might catch fifty plus rabbits and skid on a hare,,,,,,,,,,,,,but it wouldn't eat the road atlas in the back of your truck. Lol!! Only because it was drenched in pie juice lol Only had the pies because I couldn't rely on that mutt of yours to feed me! I would have shared 'em but I ate 'em whilst watching it plodding around
  16. I must be shit with my traps then ;0) no bait in this tunnel, and different aged young. I reckon they were just laiking around and playing follow my leader. But not for long
  17. Fair play Jai, that's a fair old knock he took! Personally I'd still be tempted to look at some remedial massage programme to keep things at bay. A bone man may help, depends on their approach to treatment
  18. Jai, just watched it again and can see that back leg , is there nowt that you can do about it? But what struck me was the overall balance between head, front quarters, back and rear quarters. A lot of whippets I've seen have had excessive head rock and weak fore quarters. One of mine has a damaged to it back end and regular massage and stretching keeps it at bay. That way it stops that imbalance working back up through his structure
  19. Wish our fields were that flat! But that's a nicely balanced dog you have there
  20. Not sure of percentages pal.No worries, belter either way
  21. Crackers the pair of them. How much collie in that bitch?
  22. Don't send it to Paulus, he'll make it fuzzy
