You enjoy it Adam mate, you've earned it! All the best and show us what you brought home! We won't tell a soul what you spent pal! Simon.

I have a MkIII TX200HC .177 and that Mountmaster is not on a par with what these carbines can deliver in accuracy. A fifty quid scope on a Five hundred quid rifle? Come on. Do yourself a favour and your rifle, and spend good money on a quality scope like a Bushnell, Simmons or Hawke Panorama. You won't regret it!

On the subject of no safety catch on the Brocock; guess who found out the hard way?Yes it was number one Muppet....ME! I managed to shoot myself in the foot while out ratting at night in a cow shed. It was pitch black, I had the bolt open and the magazine located in readiness, I accidentally bumped into a stall in the dark, and off it went. The pellet penetrated through two thicknesses of boot leather and embedded itself in my foot. OUCH! Regards, Steve Blimey Steve, you want to get this pic up before Brocock's board and show them what the risks they are running without a safety catch. A s

Blimey. Thank you Villaman. I won't hold my breath but it would be really nice if they did. It is a case of modern times that once-reliable makers who are like trusted household names, have let good old fashioned high standards slip for cheaper, cost-cut rubbish. That is the start of the slope downwards towards insolvency! I'll tell them at Weihrauch if they invite me over. Thanks Villaman once again. Simon

Terrific watch this one Si. I'm actually liking this PCP for its simple, get-on-with-the-job looks and performance. It's high time Brocock were given a decent review for one of their rifles. They make some really nice looking springers yet you don't hear a thing good or bad for them. Your test here has inspired me to go investigate Brocock's wares a little more closely. Top shooting as always mate! Simon

I'm playing gigs in Yorkshire pubs this weekend but, I wish all of you who's going a great time at the show. Buy your dream kit and rifles and ....PARK THE GOOD LADY AT HOME WHERE SHE'D RATHER BE....Adam.. laddie! Nowt' bloody worse than going to a show and feeling like you're dragging the clearly bored and disinterested missus around. This is a Man-day... not Moanday! ENJOY IT YOU LUCKY BUGGERS!!! All the best. Simon

Don't think it would do it any harm to try a fit with it and see what you get gnipper. Tuning kits should have parts normally profiled to the spring's inner surfaces/diameter. If everything else is alright and fits snug inside the spring, the spring was cut to UK 12ft/lb limit and it's got a light grease, you should be fine I would have thought. One you'll only know after trying it out gnipper mate.. At least you can remove it if this is not a happy fit Love the little dog in your avatar...yours? Best regards. Simon

It probably is that very case! I think that makes a lot of sense Mick as to the situation Weihrauch find themselves in. They may now be getting components parts made elsewhere at cheaper rates than they can make themselves, But that brings standards of quality into question in the crossover and final assembly. I'm hearing some really nasty reports of steel swarf and dust left in some guns. At a shade under £500 for a new HW97KT that is taking the piss to find such gash crap inside. Simon

Mallestracht Germany is where Weihrauch's HQ and factory are Mick. Andy. They make every part and, as far as I know, final assembly there. It's there where the rot must lie. Hull Cartridge stockhold and distribute here. Simon

I need to be right handed or I'd buy one too! Was that my TX by any chance Andy?

It's a bloomin' devil when you have to fork out further cash expenditure on expert tuning skill and/or kit just to get a Weihrauch spring rifle to perform where it ought to be. A strongly worded post on Weihrauch Owners Club Forum is in order methinks. They might actually read it. Simon

Super Domes, Super Powered????
pianoman replied to Halfinch's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
My local police FO told me they used Eley Wasps for years to check spring air rifles confiscated in vandalism and accident/incident investigations. Apparently, these pellets would show up a hot rifle's performance, where another brand might be keeping it under limit. -
Air Arms are bang on beautiful straight from the box. I believe many a good and honest tuner would tell you, these Air Arms TX200 and Prosport spring rifles need no tuning work to improve on what you buy off the gunshop shelf. I think you do have to get a new Weihrauch tuned to get it shooting right. There are definite quality issues with Weihrauch now. Possibly due to poor management smugly thinking they don't have to spend money as once the company did on parts/component quality? It certainly seems like corner cost-cutting has been implemented at HW Weihrauch. I've been a devotee

I think those last two answers from Mawders and zini are pitch perfect "Nutshell" assessments of the two rifles. Both are top notch sporters that will delight you with their accuracy performance Goaler. And if the Prosport was available to us left handers I'd have a pair in .177 and .22. Simon/Pianoman

I concur all of Si's comments here. It is a superbly accurate rifle in .177. Or .22 as, I have shot with Si's Tony Wall-tuned .22 version which I found to be a genuine delight to shoot. But then, so is the untuned .22 KT synthetic that Davy has. My partner Helen shot several 2p coins off a block at 30 yards with that rifle on her very first day ever shooting a rifle. So the breed is not wanting for accuracy. I have the HW97KT in .177 which is currently undergoing tuning and refining work by a friend of mine here. As a general hunting arm, it is up there with the best of them out there,

Paralax Adjustment Or Ao When To Use It ?
pianoman replied to Craig Fosse's topic in General Airgun Discussion
Hi Craig. If this is a 1st Focal Plane lens system you should be able to vary your zoom magnification lengths without upsetting your zero. Try a range session to see what happens when you switch from one magnification setting to another at a same-distance zero-ranged target. If not The best way to answer this is to use your scope in a common sense way with regard to the changes of light you will encounter during you shooting day. I zero my Simmons Whitetail classic with its 30/30 reticle on my sub 12 ft/lb HW77 at 25 metres on 6xmag. This gives me reliable paralax correction on a singl -
Hi Sam. I bought mine mail order direct from Uttings. I'm certain it was a Hull Cartridge import as it was serial numbered. I have a memory of a company under John Rothery Ltd. as one of the other importers at the time in my head. Could be wrong there though. It's been thirty years past now. Simon

Polishing A Turd.......
pianoman replied to andyfr1968's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Great read Andy I'm pleased you had a great day with Oscar and Paul and his lad. The lads need a good and ready plinker they can get to grips with without worry if they drop the bloody thing. I must say I fancy a shot with it myself after what you've done to this rifle. Good to see this mate. Trust my 'Andy-Tuned' HW97K will be in an altogether different league mind! Be well pal. Simon. -
Good for you Mac bringing on your grandson into shooting. He'll be a fine shot for your help and time spent with him. This is something he will look back on and treasure. Keep us informed of his progress with you mate. All the very best to you both Mac. Simon

In this day and age, whatever anyone wants to pay that wants them Brian. If he gets back what is on the receipt -with a little more perhaps, he's done well. A better suggestion might be to contact a specialist dealer like Henry Krank at Pudsey nr Leeds who deal in vintage and classic air guns as well as current kit. Have a chat with them. www.henrykrank.com Pianoman

Titan spring and tune has my HW80 .22 to 21-22 Ft/lbs Tom. RWS Superfield is the pellet I use with it. They don't need to be running more than that. It produces pellet-on-pellet precision groups at my 30-metre zero and will take out rabbits and mink at decent ranges humanely. Simon

Hi Sam. About Spring 1981 it arrived here. I bought one of the very first. a .22 long-barreled in about September 1982, I think. It appeared with a more angular stock and was a revelation in break-barrel air rifles at the time. It was advertised as a powerhouse air rifle, "The most powerful air rifle you can buy!" Ran the advertising. And it's legendary powerhouse image still persists to this day. But in reality, it was an incredibly accurate air rifle running on just over 11ft/lbs and possibly the most accurate production break barrel air rifle of the time. Proving for the first time

HEAR HEAR John!! (A bloody good shooter behind the trigger still counts for something though, eh!) Not biggin' you up Andy. Just a little overdue appreciation for what you've done for us. Maybe it's not rocket science, but it is a gift for knowing just what to do to what, and how to do it right. Roll on the summer hols when we can have the boys out shooting with us eh! Cheers mate. Bought My First Airgun In 11Yrs Today
pianoman replied to stump claymore's topic in General Airgun Discussion
As Si says, it is one of the top 5 best spring rifles and in .177 the HW97 is a particularly accurate rifle to a very high degree. It sounds like you bagged a hell of a good buy to get back into shooting with fella. Even roughed up and poorly looked-after Weihrauch rifles are still brilliant on the inside and eminantly restorable. So, you will not have problems here with this one, I'm certain. Sounds like a great rifle you have and one you'll come to cherish. Simon
