  1. I'm in Yorkshire till Wednesday. Then I'll be at Helen's in Wiltshire for a couple of weeks. Got a message from Davy about it this morning. Sorry I can't get away sooner from what I have to do here! It would be lovely to join in with all! Hopefully I can meet up while I'm down? Best wishes for a great day's shooting. Simon
  2. It was a true great the BSA Goldstar....I saw one or two that did brilliantly well with ELEY WASPS and BISLEY LONG RANGE GOLD....But, it was pipped by the early HW77 which was an incredible rifle for accuracy; and still is. And alas, unlike Weihrauch, it is no longer made. And BSA today is a shadow of its former self. Simon.
  3. I'm very lucky Helen is into shooting too so, I won't have any domestic problems with any new kit or rifles there. Blimey Archie ...Well, that's one way to marital bliss I guess...
  4. Hi Steve. I used a Parker Hale silencer for some years on my TX200HC .177 which gave a nice, cosmetic length rather than actively suppressing the sound. The rifle is pretty near-silent at 30yards and onwards so, I no longer use it on my TX200. The balance and handling, for me at least, is much better without it, to be honest. You cannot silence the spring's firing action from operating with any moderator. The .22 version should be a little quieter so, I would say your final decision would be more on the lines of whether or not you like the look of your carbine with one, or without?! Simo
  5. You could try Air Arms but it's doubtful they will hold spare stocks for this rifle, long out of production now. But, you never know until you ask. I'd say Mawders' suggestion may be your only help.
  6. Beautiful rifle the HW80. Mine is never going to be sold, ever! This one was built when Weihrauch didn't have the production issues we've seen in recent years. If it's sweet-shooting and handling Lewis, leave it be. These do not need tuning mate, they are magnificent as they come. Try H&N FTT with it, HW80s love those! Best wishes for your new rifle. Simon.
  7. Great advices on the Weihrauch spring rifles lads. Our friend here would do well to take it. A second hand HW80 or HW95 alone is pure shooting pleasure. It'll thrash the pants off any brand new Gamo.(And most PCPs come to that! )
  8. I ordered the full tuning kit from Tony, Fry. £47.50 inc. postage which I think is a remarkable deal. Tony prepares everything himself and all you have to do is install it. It's not as though you are assembling a missile, is it! Andy does a really thorough fettling and tuning job superbly so, it'll be a killer rifle when it's been installed and set up by him. Yes, you can add this to your HW77. To have Tony do it himself costs about £140 or so, give or take. But it is a really superb job built from scratch and perfectly matched to the rifle. You get an incredibly accurate rifle
  9. WHAT? No .22 class? That is really bloody silly. How can you call this a constructive competition across the board?! I'm still having my .177 HW97 tuning work to be done. Tony Wall hasn't got the new piston head yet and I need to get it run-in and into practice with it. Might yet have to go with the TX200HC. But I'm really keen to use my HW97 set-up.
  10. What calibre Stig79? If yours is a .177, it will be a bit more snappy and not quite so smooth in character than a .22 TX200.
  11. Beautiful cat Skot what's her/his name? I really do love cats. She looks lovely. (I had a black cat called Lucy who looked just like yours!) Shot on the piddy wasn't bad either old cock! Best wishes. Simon
  12. How many superlatives would you like Dave! This is one of Weihrauch's best rifles. It'll do whatever you ask of it as long as you can do your bit at the trigger end. Well done fella, you got a great bargain here! Best wishes for your shooting with it. Simon
  13. I once had a wild romance with a WRAF Admin Officer who was the best..... Nearest thing to an air stripper I've ever had!
  14. Well done dedger. TX200 is a superb rifle in every way. What calibre and model did you go for? Beautiful little dog in your avatar by the way! Simon
  15. Welcome to the section Toby. Cometa are a Spanish gunmaker and the air rifles they make are probably the best of Spanish gunmakers. The Fenix 400 series is their best known air rifle in the UK but, without direct experience of yours, I'd say it could well be a nice gun. I've not heard of anything bad or nasty about Cometa, so I wouldn't worry about buying a dud here. A quality sub 12ft/lbs .177 air rifle should be capable of taking rabbits out to 60 metres and over but, the real capability lies in the hands and at the shoulder of the person shooting it! How about adding to our knowledge
  16. Acuspell...you want the moon on a stick! Actually, I know a few good farmers daughters who'll do you a marvelous turn with the booze, topless!
  17. 'I see you're a good Shropshire lad...You could have joined us, kruby01
  18. Ah that's a better pic. And this is no Webley. It looks very similar in the way the breech block is designed and the barrel and cylinder are proportioned . Would this have been a Webley copy? It looks like it. The stock of the Webley looked like this; but without the ribbed fore-end.
  19. Do you shoot on your permission or move in? Of course my friend. None of this rolling about on thistles, nettles and stones and starving to bloody death and dying of thirst on a long day out to nightfall for me laddie! I'll be camping out under the stars on my permission come the warm summer with my mates Andy and Paul here! Paul's curried rabbit, squirrel and pigeon on rice, on the fire, shot fresh that day/evening. Good wines, great Beers, plenty of good malt scotch, tea, coffee and even a pudding for afters. And lots of soft, soft, soft for the 'loo' I built down there!
  20. Where the bloody hell have you been!!? Missed your presence here Mark! Hope you are well and happy doing whatever mate. Best wishes. Simon
  21. Well you heard it from Si here, my Hw97KT is superbly accurate but it is running rough. That's down to a slipping in Weihrauch's quality standards of late with a poorly cut factory spring. But intrinsically, it is a superbly accurate rifle and in the right hands, it's as accurate as it can be. Once it's had Tony Wall's Sandwell kit installed by Andy here, and slipped into an early HW77 stock which I prefer. it will be smoothed out into a devastatingly accurate rifle. The TX200HC .177 is just amazingly accurate. I would not trade mine for anything. It's really quite simple. In both cases
  22. do you think the77 is superior to the 97?? or is there nothing in it?? only asking as i am sorely tempted to flog the 410 and fancy a tuned 77 or 97 as the replacement. my sordid fling with pcp s has ran its course. I really don't see any spring rifle better than the HW77 fry mate. TX200HC .177 is as good mind, that's for certain. I have a brand new 97KT that needs work on it to make it a contender as a precision accurate underlever. It remains yet to be seen what kind of capability it has, though, it was very accurate with H&N FTT prior to going to Andy's workshop. My experience is de
  23. Magnificent rifles. I wouldn't trade my HW77 .22 for anything. Good shooting Stuart. Well done
  24. Wow I remember my mum's Great Universal catalogue having air rifles in it. You could buy Webleys, Dianas and Relums from their sports goods pages...And pay a few bob a week over a time-period to suit the customer. Those were the days eh!
