  1. By the way, you'll find the HW80 and HW80K are no where near as heavy as people make them out to be.
  2. Nice shooting Skot. Really well done. I must say, I do like the look of your HW95. And if you can shoot this well with a spring rifle, you'll love the HW80 and HW77. The best Weihrauch ever produced in my humble experience. Cheers mate. Simon
  3. Let me give you an honest review. based on actual experience of owning and shooting the Eliminator 'openseason. I had one for a little while back in the late 1990s when these were relatively new from Theoben. It's a powerful rifle in all calibres..up to around 30 ft/lbs and over. It looks and handles beautifully.... And that's about the best you can say of these. The downside is, it has a truly savage level of recoil. It will smash your average Hawke scope in about 5 shots or less and even wreck the reticle out of a pretty decent, better quality one...Like a £350 Bushnell Scopech
  4. GO DAVY!!! THE POPE OF THE SCOPE!!
  5. That first rabbit in the bag will really set him on fire, as you say John, there really will be nothing to hold him back!
  6. Looks well Keif. What have you done about preserving the bare metal from rust?
  7. HW77 if it was my cash Matty. Best spring air rifle ever made! I have, or have had, all the rifles mentioned by the lads here and the HW77 .22 I have beats the lot. Only my TX200HC .177 matches it. But never beats it. Pianoman.
  8. He's too wrapped up and swooning over his new Spectre, Rob!
  9. Bless him, he looks mad keen for it doesn't he! Greatest gift you can give to a youngster is this Mac, and yourself.....Time with him and his grandad! It's brought a bit of a lump to my throat that I was exactly like this too at his age; 8 years old and out with my dad, learning to shoot with an old Webley air rifle my Auntie had given me, in the garden and then, out into the fields with dad and his shotgun and .22 rimfire. No telescopic sights but, bags of ammo and open sight shooting rabbits out to what seemed miles away. It was entirely down to his time with me that prepared me well w
  10. Put "Webley and Scott Junior Air rifle" into Google Images. There is one or two appearing that look exactly like this one. Perhaps it was a Hungarian-made copy of a Webley you have, or was made under licence for Webley by a Hungarian maker.
  11. That's an amazing pair of rifles for an amazing pair of mates! you just GOTTA make a shooting vid of these Spectres performing at all-range targets out to the furthest you both can push em to! Jesus I want one.....looks amazingly sweet. But Sandwell Field Sports custom HW rifles always did look really special. Gizzashot when I'm down again Davy? Helen would love one of these for herself! Marvelous. Simon
  12. Still a great way to get out and shoot. Weihrauch air rifles on open sights are amazingly accurate devices.
  13. Try applying for one and see what the authorities say....!
  14. Who the bloody hell appoints these so-called Wardens? I was parked up at Pontefract Castle the other evening to get a few photos of its ruined Keep and Bailey tower from the gates and this overfed cabbage in a Fiesta marked "Wakefield District Council ENFORCER" pulls up, takes my car's number and then pisses off as I was going over to ask him what he was going to do with it. What a complete prat! Enforcer of what exactly? I come from an era where you could walk round your village with a shotgun or rimfire, never mind an air rifle, over your arm, call in the pub for a few with it, then
  15. Hi Smecky. This rifle looks exactly like a Webley and Scott 'Junior' air rifle made from the 1950s to 1960s. I had one of these many years ago when I was about 9 years old, that I cut my airgun plinking teeth on!
  16. Hi bandog. The good and commendable thing I read here is, you have taken the trouble to get your shooting up to a standard where you have every chance of humanely killing your quarry with clean, accurate shots, before you take it out on living creatures. Some so-called men around actually sneer at the notion of respect for the welfare of a live animal, even if it is a pest, but, those sort of people are usually deeply unpleasant and have a cruel streak hiding weak and feeble characters. I want nothing to do with any of that sort and neither should you. It's not about how far you can
  17. It's a relief to hear from someone who's happy with a purchase from Weihrauch. Indeed, I hope this isn't a one-off hw97k. My recent experience is not so happy. But, that's all getting taken care of! Nice one! Good to read this. Simon
  18. Awww I nearly said all that about you being a dad to a new little baby girl..................honest!!! Congratulations dear papa Porkybella. Honestly. Fantastic news Best wishes and God bless. Simon
  19. BROCOCK SPECIALIST IN BLACK PVC STOCK.......... Do I win? Or is it ??
  20. Handle both TX and Prosport and shoot with both and see which you prefer between them. All I know is my experience of owning a few TX200s. I'd say they; and the Prosport are all alike mechanically, as Andy points out above. But, in .177 the TX200HC is a genuine tackdriver. I've had a .22 TX200 rifle on my FAC which was not as nice. Maybe because, when Andy serviced it, it was found to be almost bone dry of oils or grease. ( Air Arms quality control issue!) But, that was traded for an HW97KT .177 which is currently undergoing tuning and refining courtesy of Sandwell Field Sports and Andy
  21. Thanks Russ mate that is very kind of you to say this. I've been shooting spring rifles for many years and I've learned a thing or two about shooting them over time. I definitely think you have it right with the Mamba Lite...Great scopes and a perfect hunting spec optic. Get your hold and trigger right on your Prosport Russ and you'll match -and even out-perform any PCP for accuracy. I promise you. Air Arms spring rifles, particularly in .177 are pure magic! All the best for your shooting with it Russ. Simon
  22. Hi Russ. I'm making a case for the defence of two-piece mounts. I have no problems regarding scope creep or canting due to recoil from my spring rifles using Sportsmatch two-piece mounts. And, unlike one-piece mounts, two-piece offer you the perfect spacing-adjustment set-up to balance and distribute the weight of the scope over the rifle and offer the perfect eye-relief setting. Nothing wrong with one-piece whatsoever. This is my personal reason why I use 2-piece. Your Prosport is a lovely rifle that won't give you scope worries whatever you use. As long as your mounts are Sport
  23. The notion of innocence until proven guilty has certainly shifted. A lad walking along a road with a cased and secured air rifle in a slip will not be left unchallenged by plod now. And there will invariably be some sneering Nazi and his missus who will happily dob you in if they spot you in the first place. This country is a f***ing shit hole for grassers, informers and snoopers who cannot live with themselves unless they are on the phone to some pissy little authority to cause trouble where there isn't any, so, don't give them ammo....Not that way, anyway!
  24. Back on the subject of Brocock... I note from their website they seem to have dropped making or marketing a spring rifle. That's a pity. They had a very elegant looking rifle called, I think, "Silhouette" which I saw in one of the buyer's guides a few years ago. A very slim, refined version of their "Independant", The Independant was basically a BSA Meteor dressed in a very nice and elegantly defined stock. It was a very decent, smart looking little air rifle that was open to some nice touches and tuning. Not a powerhouse, but a really superior little plinker you could hunt with to re
  25. Great to read and see I'm not the only insomniac who goes out at dawn to do a bit of shooting when bed ain't working, Nice bag, good stalk and time far from wasted reaper1064. Summer mornings without rain...that's a special time for me. Well done mate. Good for you! Simon
