  1. The sound of an air rifle plinking in a back garden, is nowhere near as offensive as a party of teens and twenty somethings having a piss-up in the thinly-disguised name of a BBQ and that shit rap/crap music blaring all feckin' day; and a major clean up of the neighbours gardens the next!
  2. Sorry Adam. It seems the weather gods are against us. It's raining pretty well in for the day here at Helen's in Chippenham. No Shoot mate! Simon
  3. Gentlemen it seems the weather will be bloody poor and wet this weekend so, I'm not shooting. But if theres a chance of a meet up and a beer going, I'm up for that. Simon
  4. The funerals have been harrowing to watch. This is Christmas. It's the time for families to celebrate with their children and their relatives to come together. It's the time of year that makes this massacre all the more poignant. Those families and parents are now condemned to spending every remaining Christmas they have in their lives, reliving and remembering this one where/when their child was murdered. I cannot begin to imagine what that must be like.
  5. Welcome Bob. Always good to see a fellow HW77 shooter here. Looking forward to reading your posts Simon.
  6. A police officer once told me, whatever you do, do not shoot them in the back. It would be seen by the law as opening fire when the villain was retreating and that's not sporting! I would certainly reach for my rifle and load it. Then give them the clearest warning to Feck off fast! If that fails, it seems clear to me they don't give a shit and are probably prepared to do me and mine some serious harm. So they are going to be shot dead on sight. End of!
  7. Aye! Pianoman will have a crack at that Si mate! Brilliant idea! Elliott will be the man to watch I reckon. He's been putting in some fantastic shooting lately with his HW77. Edit to add. I don't care so much about winning. It would be just great to meet fellow spring rifle shooters from the forum. Not that I'll be giving shots away! Simon. 1. Si. 2. Laura. 3. Simon. (Pianoman) 4. Helen.
  8. We are already bound under the most stringent laws on firearms in Europe as it is. I cannot see how much further we can be restricted? It is the turn of the Americans themselves to re-examine their current gun laws. They are a conundrum to me, the American people. They are among the loveliest, friendliest people on earth sometimes. And yet, they can be utterly, ruthlessly at odds with themselves. America will NEVER give up it's demands to have the right to bear arms. "From my cold dead hands" is the battle-cry of the National Rifle Association and their ideal to carry a firearm in
  9. If the weather's bad then we'll cancel Davy. But I'm down for a while. I like Adam's suggestion of even just getting together over a cup of tea or maybe beers and having a chin-wag  Cheers mate. Simon.
  10. As with everyone else. That is a bag I would be happy to go out on a cold day for. I'd look on the Pheasants as a reward for a bit of effective pest control work! All the very best of the season Acuspell Simon
  11. This another Tax by another name. How can an already overburdened and undermanned police enforce this nonesense? Signed.
  12. Seems like you'll be fine to hunt with this scope Symon. 4-16 is a very good hunting mag range and a 50mm objective lens will give you some decent light gathering capabilty. I can't see any problems here mate. All the best with it. Simon.
  13. Hi Davy. Whatever's going. Some plinking or HFT would suit Helen! But I'm up for whatever you'd like to do, and I sure Adam and Phil would too if they can join us. Thanks mate. Appreciate this. Simon
  14. Hi darkdd. Thanks for pointing this out. Well, he's changed his looks quite a bit more than I expected. You're right, he did a lot of ads for Simmons back then "The Prohunter" he was known by. I didn't realise he was on the board of Simmons UK .And Fred Carter too, I remember he produced his own DVDs but I never bought any. Amazing how people's lives can change and turn over a decade. Cheers. Simon
  15. Adam you'll be more than welcome mate. Quite understand Si. Had a feeling you'd be away!
  16. Hi lads. I'll be heading down to Helen's on Friday to spend Christmas at hers. You lads up for a bit of a meet-up and a shoot this weekend or whenever? Let me know and I'll bring a rifle or two! Simon
  17. I'm not sure this is the same Richard North darkdd81...!
  18. If it becomes that much of a hassle for simple sub 12ft/lb air rifles, I'll go to using 17HMR and .22LR. The whole beauty of shooting an air rifle is how accessable it is without the need for licences and security/police involvement/hassle etc. So if that's what the Home office ends up demanding of us, we might as well have the full bore stuff in our cabinets and make it worth the while.
  19. This is Britain Barry. It's a new Tax they've found to screw cash from us for. It's got nothing to do with safety, or crime prevention. Criminals will just carry on being criminals regardless. It is another example of how this country is now full of nasty little jobsworths that loves nothing more than petty officialdom and overburdening bureaucratic bullshit to bog themselves down with while extracting yet more cash from the British citizen.. It will get people off the dole and into clerical jobs administering it and then, giving them more work to do when they have to untangle the bloody h
  20. I'm still going through the breaking-in stages with my 97KT Skott and I'm not able to get out as much as I want to as work and Christmas get in the way. But it's great to see you're making strides with yours. If you and I were to seriously compete against eachother, I would certainly treat your shooting with great respect and look well to my own form! Bring them both in June mate and we'll have a crack with each other eh?! Si says what I've always believed. You just can't beat a Weihrauch springer! I love em! Great to read this mate. Simon
  21. That was his gift Phil. He could write with the sure knowledge of experience and he made it easy to understand the art of air rifle shooting without over-dressing the subject. He was a shaping influence in my own shooting make up. Nothing he wrote about didn't work! What became of Richard North? I never hear of him these days.?? Simon
  22. YAAAAAAYYYYY! 40-yard rabbit on the lamp at night is a bloody good shot by any standard. Pleased for you Skott laddie! Simon
  23. hi Skot it is good to get away from it all and just chill,i have a few more things to add in there yet! this is a small mane cave compared to chaz & roger crooks, "oh! i could, only dream of having" I've had the rare privilege to have been in Davy's man cave and it's a lovely man cave . Just fits one Davy sized man comfortably in place with his work bench and all he needs to hand and the outside world can wait at the door...including me as I'm too tall to fit under the roof! We all should have one. It's lovely in there..almost . Simon
