  1. I had a Parker Hale silencer fitted to my TX200HC Mklll .177 carbine rifle for a while. It made very little difference to the actual muzzle report and, nowadays, I shoot perfectly fine without it. My TX200 MkIII Standard rifle is .22 and is not threaded to take a silencer nor do I see any need for one as the gun's muzzle report is pretty moderate on firing. As with previous replies, a good strip down service, lube and polish will keep your rifle running sweet and quiet enough.
  2. Phantom. Get that gun and pump to a GUNSMITH Before you try anything more, as it sounds to me like you had a narrow escape keeping your fingers in one place! A prime reason why I will never waste my money on PCPs! Sorry Gentlemen but the spring powered TX200s and HW80s I have don't go blowing my bonce off, or leak or fizz and hisss before taking my finger ends off! Really hope this all works out for you mate. It sounds like you could do with a bit of good luck! ATB Simon
  3. Hi Matty and welcome. Sounds like you have been given an "Original" air rifle. Original were the company name and were German. Mod 27 stands for their 27th in-production design of air rifle. I think they were made in the 1960s to the late 1970s. I had an Original air rifle as a youngster, about 1968. Very good as all German guns seem to be.
  4. That's really kind of you Bill thanks mate. A good timber supplier is always good to know. I'm busy with a lot of work on, and what spare time I do have, I need to get out shooting whenever the 'Minister for War' has no need of me on the home front and I vowed I'd get the HW80K project finished this year. I must admit I've got the mulling bit well underway though! Rosewood...lovely! ATB Simon
  5. Andy, Bill Thanks a lot fellas I don't have a source supplier as yet for ebony Bill. My dad got all his from a company called Tewke's and Son of Leeds but they ceased trading a few years ago when Mr Tewke retired. I have a bit of ebony, enough to make the cappings I have in mind, and walnut blanks from my dad's stockpiles. Particularly a rich deep Turkish walnut stockblank which will be the one to use. Bill, if you are after ebony yourself I can only suggest you try the usual timber suppliers businesses who understand the needs of the gun trades. You might like to consider investing in a few
  6. Hi Andy Alas, no mate. Sorry. I wish I had now in hindsight. I started on the rifle restoration bit after my dad taught me the basics to advanced techniques of gunsmithing and rifle maintainance, since I was an 8-year old with my first Webley .22 Junior. He was a great and passionate life-long shooter and had a master craftsman's skill with wood and fine metalworking. He has made the most beautiful stocks for his shotguns and full-bore rifles in the past, including hand-chequering, Schnabel tips, ebony cappings and making or repairing metal parts for shotguns and rifles. I've picked it up fro
  7. Hi fellas. Thanks for all your thoughtful responses. Since posting this, I have found that the threads in the mechanism that takes the silver screw adjuster you see at the trigger were duff; not the screw itself. So that decides the remedy! This was a restoration of a second-hand HW80K I've taken from a rusted, worn-out wreck to a polished, Good-as-New, full power, match-accurate hunter and the previous owner was not the most subtle -or knowledgeable of handlers, shall we say! Getting the trigger unit re-blued and set right is the last stage of my work on it and, I'm not taking chances on safe
  8. Gentlemen. Hi. I've got a 10-year+ old Wiehrauch HW80K .22 rifle with a problem in it's Rekord trigger's adjustable screw mechanism. And it's a serious one. The silvered trigger-adjust screw has started to "wind" itself loose under vibration and recoil from a heavy day's range session. Effectively lightening the pull-weight gradually to a hair-trigger release. If I don't reset it to a firmer let-off, the trigger blade starts to feel loose and first stage pressure goes limp until, the rifle will fire at the lightest touch. The screw itself feels so loose I can tighten it up with my finger
  9. Hi mate. Firstly, well done on the way your stock is looking. Good to see someone hand-making something special for his shooting. It does seem though, from the wording of your post; (quote; "Have decided I'm going to try and build my own!!!") that you intend to build your rifle from scratch from your own handmade components and currently, it therefore appears you've got a stock that is searching for an action. I salute your workings in making your own stock mate, and I hate to see negatives when a fellow sets out to make something, but, I can't help but wonder if you have put the cart before t
  10. Hi everyone. I'm just another new fella who, after seeing so much positive, informative and friendly chat between the members, I'd like to join up and say hello to you guys. I'm Simon, 52 years old and an avid shooter since I was 8 and shoot solely with air rifles now. I have 2 Wiehrauch .22 HW 80s which I love to bits, one of which I successfully restored from a near wreck found in my gunsmith's second hand lots, for something to try having a go at about ten years back, and a pair of TX200 MkIII rifles. An HC .177 carbine and a .22 standard rifle. I use Simmons Nikko Stirling and Bushnell sco
