I remember my mum holding me with tears in her eyes when this animal and his bitch were first making the news after their arrest. I was about 7 years old and I remember this monster and the outrage of the crime, mothers in tears and screaming for the hangman, very clearly. His victims families have been in hell. But nothing like that of poor Keith Bennett's Mum Winnie. She has passed away now, after a lifetime never knowing once where her murdered little lad was buried on that bloody moor. Keep him alive. Keep him fed by every means, but keep him alive. His very waking existence must b

Konceptus Tuning Kit?
pianoman replied to BenjaminCadd's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
The thing is Benjamin, the Pro Sport's a top quality spring air rifle. What does this motley collection of 'washing machine bits' do that supposedly makes it even better? I take seriously the expert opinion of fellows like Chris/Thursodog and his expertise in engineering and gunsmithing, very well shown on threads here before.. If he can see faults just from looking at the pics then there will likely be trouble with them in practice. Simon -
Lovely looking scope for a lovely looking rifle Mac All the best with this rig mate, looks the business! Simon

Poor spelling in their advertising... What else do they not take care of? I wouldn't bother. -

I'd be off down a rifle club with a bolt action .303 Enfield for the 1,000 yard comps with that ticket! Well done Darryl. Hope you have many happy years of shooting a greater variety of rifle now. All the best with you new status mate. Simon

A Big Thank You To Davyt63

Oh dear...pay a man a proper compliment and what do you get..... -
Absolutely stuck on left hand side for everything but for throwing something! I throw or bowl a cricket ball right handed and I (used to) play golf right handed. Edit to add: I am totally left-eye dominant. And yet, have shot my Weihrauch air rifles off my right shoulder to make better use of hunting cover and that's a reason why I think roll-over stock combs are not a practical design. No rifle should limit you to just one side only. You have to be able to make the most of your concealment in hunting and that means being able to shoot off your opposite shoulder if needs be. Simon

Davy is one of life's honestly good men. Not just a friend in sport. But a man with a proper heart and soul. A genuinely lovely fellow! -
For my HW97K ...H&N FIELD TARGET TROPHY 4.50mm .177. Edit to add: Mine has a Sandwell Field Sports tuning kit and spring set up by Tony Wall and installed by AndyFR1968 ...Fabulous rifle; I love it.

I'm all for some handy lad going round his place and punching the crap out of him. You are right Jonah, he probably won't get porridge but, some other judicial slap on the wrist. After which he'll lie low a while and be back to his old self before a year is out.

From me personally Mick, thank you for helping my friend out. He's a genuinely fine lad who deserves a decent break like this Just let me know when you get back home Andy we gotta get together on that permission of yours and have a few beers together again pal! Best wishes to you Andy. And to you too Mick. Simon

Pellets-Pellets But Which One
pianoman replied to sparkycrew's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Hi Nick. Ask your gunsmith to give your Pro Sport a thorough internal service check and a barrel scrub. If you are not certain what you are doing mate, you can do real damage to the crown and we really don't want that one causing problems. At least with your rifle sound as a pound internally, the pellet problems can be easily addressed. I'm sure there is a solution just at hand for your pro Sport Best regards for it mate. Simon -
Pellets-Pellets But Which One
pianoman replied to sparkycrew's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
There has been a marked decline in standards of both pellet and gun manufacture Sparky. It's not unusual to find a number of damaged pellets among the most expensive brands nowadays. I can recommend Superfields though. Not found any damaged ones in the tins I have. But in your post you say your Pro Sport has become harsh and not so consistent after 1.000 rounds through it. Sounds like you rifle has developed an internal fault mate; ammo alone will not cause harsher firing cycles. That sounds like there's a fault with the spring or seals or piston head. Inconsistencies at the target are -
Thank you Russ. Moxy. Very kind of you to say gentlemen. Best wishes. Simon Edit to add. Actually I remember there was mention of Ben Taylor at the time I was looking at this particular FX Cyclone. I think he had a hand in modifying or improving the regulator in some way? Something like that.

As a spring gun devotee Moxy, I have actually shot with one of these. An FX Cyclone De Luxe .177 when these first appeared on the shelves about 10 years or so ago. Beautiful, full-figured walnut stock, very slim in proportions and very light, (too light for me as it happens) But despite the delicate look, it is very well made and extremely accurate. I found myself hitting targets at getting on for silly long ranges without too much adjustment in the hold. but, at over £700 back then even, a tad too rich for my tastes at the time. I bought the TX200HC I still use today instead. I think it'

So, in the real world, it really boils down to what is the most effective rifle shooters find, for particular jobs or pleasures. There is no getting away from the fact that if a chap has a huge number of rabbits to clear, a multi-shot PCP is the really sensible option. Fast, silent reload, 14-shot magazines or whatever they are, silent and deadly accurate. The perfect hunting rifle where culling in large numbers is needed. Contrast and compare with a single-shot spring rifle, however accurate, is not as stealthy, it makes clicks and cracks whenever it is cocked, loaded and closed up. It ma

Avoid the really cheap SMK stuff old son. As Skot says, you'll end up wasting your money and that's tough enough in times out of work. Look for a good second hand Weihrauch HW80. HW77. HW97. HW98. And you're set for life. Beautiful rifles that will never let you down and still keep y

This is a lovely film of the day. It's a true honour to be among the company of such good lads and fine sportsmen. It's a interesting reflection that Rob (porkybella) and myself had just one point between us and our HW97s are set up in identical mk.I HW77 stocks. He prefers a sporter stock too. A fine day of shooting from everyone's perspective. The very best to all you good men. Simon

Springer till I die. Seriously. I've no other experience in air rifle shooting and they never let me down. They are beatifully simple, uncomplicated devices and will return what you put into them with accuracy in spades . And you can keep them cocked as long as you like. They don't lose power as some people think. If the spring finally packs in, just get a new one fitted. Pcp's are great for accurate shooting stfaight off but they will not turn you into a marksman without a study of what makes for ccurate shooting in the first place. . Maybe I am old fashioned but each to what he
