  1. For the life of me I cannot understand why Si (and Davy too?) gets such a negative response to his shooting from certain quarters. Perhaps they look on superb marksmanship and hard dedicated work to improving legal limit air rifle performance as bad example for unskilled novices to follow???
  2. My HW97KT .177 was three months old and hardly used when I bought it for £350 as a mint condition rifle. A good price to pay but, at new it would be getting on for £500. And it's a great rifle. All things considered. I'm happy with what I've got for the money.
  3. It is. Lol So this would make a rifle combining a 98's compact-handling barrel and accuracy with the weight of an HW80. A Tony Wall tune...all wrapped up in a Custom Stock's CS500 sporter or Tyrrolean walnut stock....Jesus! It really sounds awesome doesn't it! Simon
  4. Good luck with this Ian, it's a sound business idea here. Just be sure you show as much clear info about each batch of pellets in respect of head-sizes, grain weights etc. Nothing worse than finding a batch of pellets that work like dreams in a rifle..and no bloody info as to make, type etc. All the best for your enterprise Ian. I'll be after trying more myself! Simon
  5. Great post Steve. The brilliant thing about Weihrauch rifles is they can be as knocked about to hell and back but they always remain superb on the inside. You'd have to physically knock them out of shape before they suffer from abuse. A good turn from you and a bit more permission to shoot over in return. Matt will be turning to you for all kinds of good advice for his rifle from now on mate! I'd say that was a result! Best wishes Steve and well done.. Simon
  6. You are spot-on here Aaron it is green eyed and small, narrow-mindedness. Darryl hasn't anything further to prove here. He is a great marksman as his handle implies. He is also one of the straightest, most decent men I've ever met. He shot a fantastic group, witnessed by two great lads here. I've looked at his group and it is the standard for a superb air rifle, shot by a man who knows exactly how to hold and shoot with it. It's not impossible when you are well-on with quality kit! To say it is excellent, well, that's what it is. Excellent! But to then retract it after, I assume, "Forensi
  7. Sounds to me that this is a complaint based on the sound of your rifle than the actual danger it poses. I don't think you need worry as the other lads have said. But just be calm when they call, show them where you do your garden practice and let common sense take shape. The Police are required to investigate every complaint they receive so, they are just going through proceedure. I don't think your neighbour has actually turned up the volume on his complaint or the response from the police would be far more serious. They will have asked him if there was a very real risk of death or in
  8. Why not show a series of challenges involving spring, gas ram and pcp air rifles if you can get these together in your reviews? That goes for all you lads running your own channels.
  9. Aww what a dilemma! Great shooting as ever from two great lads. The rifles are truly fabulous Si and Davy. But am I shooting with anything less? No. I really have beautiful spring rifles that Andy has serviced absolutely superbly. But the point is...Do I order one too when I have four really terrific, superbly accurate shooting spring rifles??? I'm really liking the idea/suggestion of taking an HW80K and putting it through a real customising facelift and Sandwell's tuning with a Custom Stock's CS500 sporter or Tyrrolean stock in a rich walnut.... That would be fabulous ...wouldn't it!
  10. Right then Andy....Oh bollocks! I'm away at Duxford airshow this coming weekend! We've got to get together and give the Sandwell/Andy tuned HW97 a fair hunting session! Best regards mate. Simon Edit to add. As opinions clearly count as important here. I enjoy the reviews I see on Geordie Hunters TV. They are balanced and honest and told in direct terms even a workshop numpty like me can understand! Unlike the bloody rave reviews every gash bit of kit gets in the monthly Mags at WH. Smith! I get all the action I want when I'm out shooting in the fields with my rifle. What I wa
  11. This is just another removal of financial policy by the Con/Lib lot from the government's avowed commitment to protect the people it represents in order to save cash. This time, it's on legal aid bills and country sports is the target. Or more likely because a lot of air rifle shooters who fall foul of the law are from poor households who cannot afford to pay for justice to protect them.. They are the ones most likely to be caught trespassing and poaching a pheasant or rabbit or two to feed their families. And that's not fair. Not when the policies of this tyrannical Party are forcing the poo
  12. It should but, if it runs hot, it won't be over so much that a tinful of pellets shot through it, won't bring it down to safe levels. No worries there really.
  13. Simple. SANDWELL FIELD SPORTS TUNING KIT. Superb quality-finished parts and at a price you cannot argue with. The top spec kit is only £47:50 inc. postage! Give Tony Wall a bell at Sandwell Field Sports and have a chat. Simon
  14. The great thing about Weihrauch from years past is that, their rifles were built to last with the very best quality you could find in an air rifle. Even if the exterior quality is suffering from owners neglect, they are terrific on the inside. I've never owned one of these but, I've shot with my mate here, AndyFR1968 who swears by his. I've shot well with his HW90 .20cal rifle and it's a little gem. A real little honey of a rifle. He keeps it in top fettle mind. Superb is not enough to describe it. Well done on what will prove a great bargain! Simon
  15. That is a truly great picture of what must have been a memorable day. Nice work Darryl, top class photography as I knew it would be. Bloody car let's me down at the last minute and Helen and I missed out . We are so sorry to have to missed out meeting you all there; but we both wish Simon and Laura the best of health, wealth and all love's happiness all their lives. With fondest love from Simon and Helen. To newlywed Mr and Mrs Pittaway.
  16. It has always been a real competitive industry between Weihrauch and Air Arms that their rifles were set apart as the top spring rifle rivals on the gunshelves. That was great for us as, we got a fabulous rifle from both makers. I love my HW80 and my TX200HC is fabulous to shoot with. Both of them over the 10-year mark Weihrauch have really let their quality slip down though and this HW97KT wasn't shooting as well as I know from experience it should as a new rifle. Andy found the spring was the let down (again!) with a badly cut and finished unit. The rest wasn't bad though. The few shot
  17. Mk.III has a thicker diameter bull barrel as stated above. Mk.II and Mk.I had a standard width barrel. MkII has a similar stock design to earlier Mk III and MkI had a stepped forend on the stock undersurface. Simon
  18. Mike, give the scambusting a rest eh mate?! Life is really too short to waste like this. With sincerely-held good wishes. Honestly!! Simon
  19. I can't wait for the weather to warm up and the winds to calm down for a serious running-in target and a hunting session. The kit cost just £47.50 inc. postage. Can't fault that!
  20. So because a lad uses poor grammar, poor sentence construct and the frequent use of the word "Bud" you have bona fide, bang-to-rights evidence of the Graham clan re-emerging.... You know what Mike. It would be a good idea to stop using the Forum as a vehicle for your ridiculous persecution of the Graham clan and keep to posting more of your extensively considerable knowledge of all matters shooting! Yet another "AHAAA GOTCHA!" interjections on threads. It's boring and shows you in a bad light Mike as an annoying lazy little bugger with nothing else to occupy your time. Now, please... stop
  21. Mike...in all seriousness. The HW80 is a very easy rifle to strip. Every tuner from here to oz will tell you what a doddle they are to work on and even a numpty like me can strip and assemble one without problems.. You remove four screws to get the stock off and the trigger block with two pins. Once the trigger unit is removed from the block and the back off the cylinder, the only tricky bit is the preload on the spring. If it's an FAC Titan it will need careful handling, otherwise there's next to nothing of preload with a 12-ft/lb spring...... Done! 5-minute job. What is so notoriou
  22. The way to deal with this is, if you suspect or know you have an illegally powerful air rifle, go see your RFD in advance and explain what you have and make an arrangement to have it brought to him for a new spring and service to UK legal spec. The HW80 is one of the best break barrel spring air rifles in the world. Nothing beats it! I have a .22 HW80, albeit on my FAC and it is truly amazing what shooting this has given me. Simon
  23. HW80 or HW77. Or TX200HC! All three are air rifle legends, beloved of generations of shooters the world over, for very good and proven reasons. I love them!
