Right or wrong always plead not guilty until proven guilty then just grin and bear it.

Always like to get out for a shot on opening morn and same 1st November. With the way the weather is here at the min I reckon the lakes are the best bet as a lot of pools are either dry or almost and water would be stagnant on them now.If I get a few shots I will be happy and a bonus if the lab gets a retrieve, best of luck to all.

I was on a dig to a chocolate dog named CHESTER belonging to some English lads that were over here diging with a another English man now living in Ireland. It was in the late 80s earlt 90s cant remember exactly, maybe not the same dog but a right good dog, very game and new his job.

I used to keep track greyhounds and they were very prone to pick up kennel cough because of the kennelling up in different race tracks around the country.I used just honey aqnd a spray of antiseptic throat spray and it would clear it up in a matter of a few days.

Do you not think there is enough dirt been dug up at the minute, lol.

Have to agree with you cleanspade,as after 6-7 seasons then your bitch is pushing 9 year old and if you do breed you are waiting say 18months to see if the pups if any make the grade from the stud you used. Then if they do or maybe they were no good well by that time its too late to rectify the situation as the bitch is too old to breed of anymore.I think if a bitch is worked hard for a season or 2,and it also depends on there style of working then you should know if they have the qualitys needed to breed from, jmho.

Anyone on here on the Bluck site, see its gone pear shape over him selling some pups and when he don't like what people reply he gets shut of them,i always believed people had a right to there own opinion but Johnny seems to think differently.

100% right Stig, what 'seems' to be the case in the terrier world is the lean toward dogs, as you said, because of 'names'. I see it more with younger lads getting into the game, its dogs only in the kennels. I think lads who have been in the game longer know the value of a good bitch and rightly so. You can have the best dog in the world but if your putting it to unproven bitches because thats all you got or can find, your a damn fool..! the value of a good tested bitch comes when you yourself want a litter from it --simple .. a good well tested bitch is prob more of an asset th

That's the very reason that there is so much shit about, breeding of non proven terriers, both dogs and bitch's.Why would you breed of a bitch that's no good, refrase that, why would you keep a bitch that's no good, there is only 1 reason £££££££££.

Plenty of good honest working bitch's about,as Dev said,if they were not about you would not have good dogs either as I think the bitch is far more important in the breeding programme.I have always if possible kept tp a type that suits me and the diging I do.I like a bitch that is well capable of ending matters below ground and a dog that will do the same on a regular basis.I had a small patt bitch years ago that could finish a fox in a very short time and still come away without a lot of grief for her efforts, she eventually was stolen along with every other terrier I had in the yard at the ti

What's The Most Digs In One Season
fat man replied to shaneg's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
Sometimes its not the deep digs that will test a terrier but a handy rangey spot with well educated quarry in it that knows the score and will do everything to give the terrier a hard time.2 seasons ago my mate and I went out for a dig with a young lad that lives near enough to me.He had a patt bitch that was very well bred and had a fair share of diging over her so we decided to see what she was made of.We entered the bitch at about 9.30 and after several attempts to dig to her we finially dug her at about 5ft with her quarry 3 to 4 hours later with her quarry finially pushed up into a stop.T -
cant get them over the counter any more, not where i am anyway. Still can get hold of them no prob from local chemist,£10.50 for the 7/1,long may it last as vets are a rip off most times.

THEY been the appropriate word as I could not see them do it single handed, they make hard work of it even doubled up but they are good hounds to hunt up.
-
Definatly not suited to a hardish type terrier but I would not call them the ultimate quarry? what would you call the ultimate quarry?anyone know when the last otter was taken legally in the uk/ireland?should think theres not alot of folk alive still-who would have hunted them i could be wrong mind atb Bobby I don't think I need to say on an open forum what the ultimate quarry is,or rather was pre ban as for otter,i bolted 1 from a drain only last season and dug to a fox in the same drain half an hour later thinking I was diging to a 2nd otter.I dug a very large dog otter back in

Have seen and also had terriers that were good workers and also made good house dogs around kids and that, its called socializing.

I would have to disagree with you on that one Voon, and I would imagine so would a lot of men that worked white bodied terriers long before the black dogs came into this country.I can remember even though I was very young at the time early 70s there were a lot of bullxrussells about of every % and they were worked hard on all quarry.I got my 1st terrier bullxrussell when I was about 10-11 and he served me well for about 12 years with a hell of a lot of stuff dug with him as myself and my mates did nothing else but hunt every chance we got.I also had a fox terrierxrussell that was a good dog to

Was gifted a little bullxrussell when I was 10 year old never looked back and every dig still as exciting as the 1st all those years ago, pity the youngsters of today are not as easy going, then again maybe its the shit times we live in now that has them the way they are.

Does anyone know of pick axe lines
fat man replied to Chopper2575's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
Seems that's what happened.Bryan had 16 digs to the dog afterwards, some tricky ones aswell and I have no reason to doubt the man as I seen this dog work plenty of times without fault. His only fault that I could see with him was his size as some earths it took longer for him to reach his game.I cant say the dog did not come away as I was not present when it happened with its new owner so cant say what took place and have no reason to disbelieve the man either, every dog has an off day and anyone that says different is a liar. fatman just a question. do you think its possible for this dog in q -

Because the chap that had the dogs decided all of a sudden diging wasn't for him anymore and just sold all.ok...why didn't one of his mates are you buy the dog you knew everything about I had enough dogs about me as had my diging mate, actually 1 of the lads made an attempt to buy the pickaxe bred bitch but had not all the money at once so tha man that had her said he wanted it all in 1 and wanted to sell all 3 together so that put a damper on the other lad buying her as he at the time was not working and money was tight. We had gave him 4-5 years of good diging every wknd imo the dogs should -

Trev I also knew the tiger bitch and dug over her a few times when dd had her,she was getting on then and eventually died.I also remember Ron,was he not the sire to jack and a bitch called Pip belonging to NC the dam, could be wrong. This thing over these 3 terriers is goin on awhile now and it seems 3 different party's have different views on them.I was asked by the KM about these terriers and I told him exactly what I knew of them as I had dug to them pretty often, why should I tell lies about them as I had nothing to gain from it,they were not my dogs after all,DD owned them and if things were
