  1. let the pup have a sniff of your hands after youve held them for a few days just to get the smell of them them holding your ferret near to the pup let him have a sniff build up the contact slowly then let them share a bowl of lamlac or similar take it steady though and watch 100%. just keep handling them kits the more the better and then some more
  2. sorry to hear that mate hows the others they showing any signs?
  3. get the collars on them well before you want to work them while they are in there run put them on and let them have a run round for an hour or so for a few days try to associate something good with putting the collars on ie feeding or ferretone if you are strugling. i usually put 1 on the older ferrets let him/her have a run in the hutch then do the younger ones they seem to get the idea then. in the hutch have plenty of pipes and stuff for play aqs for fitness my kids like to walk mine so they get fit through that a bit plus running in the garden

  11. i think there all mk3m now the new ones collars are better in my opinion and the receiver is the same apart from the magnet
  12. good stuff mate loads of advice to be had off here when ya start on your own take it slow and steady and let the animals build up sowly never force them down or drag them out then they will learn the rest. atb muddy
  13. bulldog or the old army spade/shovel that you see bolted to the front of landrovers in the army both very good
  14. mk 3m here find it one of the most useful bits of kit in my equipment. on layups its gret for locating your animals ad o the bigger sets such as hedrows it shows if they have moved out of the area you are looking at. i often tie wrap mine to the spade and shove the spade in the ground thirty yards down wind if i hear it going i know the ferts have move off in that direction. not ideal i know but dont allways have 2 sets of eyes
  15. had another good check on the ferrets again today and all clear with them now looks like i got them all which is allways satisfying im still furking itching though
  16. you want to count yourself lucky she can light a fire mine would have the house going aswell lol
  17. in winter i chuck a rabbit in with my four and refeed when its gone usually a day with dry i keep them topped up on the stuff in the summer then they allways have some food to go at but they can put weight on with it if they do then they are on there leads and marching the streets soon gets them fit and healthy lol. as for fleas and ticks i treat as i find no point in spending money on stuff if not needed also dont like dosing the ferrets withs chems for the sake of it, so i dose when i need to also get yourself a good tick puller in advance the otom ones are the best and a doddle to use f
  18. feed every day bar one. feed them on rabbit and raw meat where poss with dry on back up if needed or during summer when the flies are to much. working them depends on the ground you work and how long the days are i have a team of 4 that may get out 3 times a week if work allows and they show no probs
  19. live catch traps is the best way cover it over with some wood and get some rabbit in there if hes still about it might work.
  20. if you have some one to go with follow them let the kits have a run after the older ones, if not just get out and find a small warren 3 -5 holer and let them enter it. dont force them down or drag them out and if poss let them enter on ahole thats level not straight down. let them have a run around some will just hole pop while others take straight to it. just let them do it themselves and let them leave the warren of there own accord dont try to grab the ferret untill it has cleared the hole this may take a while but in the long run its better than having a peekaboo ferret one of which i own
