  1. try a bit of belly pork soon gets the weight on em, few that have been handed to me in the past have come in really skinny and under weight other wise free feed him some kibble soon pack some weight on with that.

  4. I wouldn't be running them this season if there only just 7 week old now, after a good winter on em some of the rabbits they can be tough old gits to shift, its not about wether the ferret has it in it or not but wether they are the size and strength to not take a hammering below ground theres more f****d up dogs and ferrets around from been entered to early then been left to mature a bit ive got some young uns here they will be about 17 week or so I think they wont be entered till the end of the season even then on small warrens that have all ready been run through by the adults.
  5. my best two at the mo are both ones ive been handed
  6. depends on the size of the ferret concerned and how big your sets are I start em on the small stuff see how they go on then gage it from there but I wont introduce them till six months onwards in the first place
  7. nine times out of ten they wont let go because there swinging in the air put them animals legs onto the floor and they usually let go as for flicking on the nose it only pisses them of for next time
  8. took one of me stinkers to the vets the other day along with a couple of the kits for a look over. whilst I was in there an old farm hand starts talking to me about ferrets and how hes had hundreds of them. He wouldn't stick his hands in to pick the kits up but was used to them he claimed. he then came out with this little pearl of wisdom. to get polecats we used to take the white gills and stake them down in the woods for a few nights to breed with the stoats, that's where the polecats come from, now because I played dumb at this point the bloke starts rambling on about how hes had the b
  9. gave most of mine away advertised the a few on preloved for a fiver not to make money just to stop people thinking they could have one for free then see if they liked them allways give me ferrets away to working homes

  13. Just had a hob vasectomized for being the Jill's out make sure you get a vet that knows ferrets my first one removed the wrong pipes. Ended up with unwanted litters.
  14. looks like mine have thrown a few silvers this year not intentional but there looks to be a couple in the litter still hard to tell how silver grey they going to come out.
  15. had some round here already this year they seem to be getting more widespread and more common otom tick puller is the best and probably the easiest way to remove them then keep them in date with the frontline spray from the vets

  17. I get more worried in the summer for mine then the cold winter the heat seems to f**k em more than extreme cold looking at installing some fans in me new set up for this reason also when im on 12 hours its a while to not check em in the summer . got double bottles on everything at the minute and giving them as much shade as poss.
  18. Ive ferreted in the summer and like has been said can be very tedious work and murder on the hands with the briars and the nettles when my old hob found a nest he would just hammer the lot and move on he would not exit till he was happy every thing was dead or bolted. he was a sod for getting out sometimes only ferret the summer now if really needed id rather sit out with the rimmy during these months.
  19. ferret kits free to good homes hobs and jills albinos and coloured also big male polecat hob Grimsby area
  20. free kits to working homes all bred from good working stock albines black eyed whites and few mixed colours. pictures available if interested. Grimsby.
  21. putting a good bit of sugar in the water stops it freezing as ice crystals can not form. or put a big bowl in the cage with a good size stone in it this also works
  22. read the sticky put here by rake aboot it makes sense. otom tick puller and some frontline spray all of the spot ons are not for ferrets frontline spray is the best for this job by far. once you have done the ferret get its quarters cleaned out and remove all bedding and anything else in there that might harbour the little critters. i then use a blow torch to go round the inside joints to make sure the little gits are gone then keep the stinker out the hutch for a week or more to make sure they cant be re infested.
  23. sounds like shes mothering her or being a bit territorial. try and get them seperated when you cannot be with them introduce them slowly. this should work but sometimes they will not mix but it thats not often
  24. bunny boiler looks to me like you have a 8ft and a 15ft collar there mate 15ft has 2 batteries for a stronger signal. the mark 1 box the grey rectangle was manufactured for a good few years and some of the parts inside where changed from time to time but as for finders the rectangles are mark 1s and the carrots are either mk2s or mk3s mk2 was very quickly replaced with the mk3 coz of a few problems with it and its really pooor battery life was one of the worst
