looks good as stated i would change the wire over to weld mesh ferts are sods for getting past normal wire. as for the digging part is the bottom wood or starigh into the ground. if its into the ground there is another escape route. i personally would open it up a bit get some light into it.

i usually pick the one i like the look of give it a quick run at the end of the season then see what its like the year after. i used to give em a few months to measure up then make me decision to keep them or not if they were no good get shifted to a pet home. these days the kids wont let me shift em on so i end up with a few extras inthe yard.

First rifle set up, thinking CZ's.
muddy210 replied to reeking rabbits's topic in Reloading and Gun Maintenance
czs are good mate for the price as for scopes get something that has a decent magnification on the hmr the more you spend the better the picture is. this makes a lot of difference if lamping or shooting at dusk i have a schmidt and bender on me big rifles and they are awesome but very expensive army snipers use them so that shows the quality. loads of good manufacturers out there i also have a meopta which again aint that cheap but its good. as for the rimmy stick something on it that wont set you back to much bigger tube means more light have a look ata few at the game fairs loads to be had e -
sounds like the cheap 4z nets mate as asaid steer clear you will spend more time unravelling them then you will ferreting if you get your nets off one of the guys in the sticky threads at the top of the forum they will be of good quality and last you as well as been of good material such as spun poly.

got most colour wise here i have my favourites in amongst them but its not down to the colour its down to the fact some are just better at the job than the rest before the kids were with us the ones that didnt make the grade where moved on as pets or to people who thought they could get em going. best ferret i have every had though was a albino nothing special as far as size or looks went but i would put her against any other ferret for shifting the conies and best bit is she was given to me along with a male of the same strain who also showed the stones for the job sadly i never bred these an

hazel for me cheap and easily done sharpen when wet and its even easier usually cut a length when walking the dog thats at least 7 a week if i needed that much get possibly ten from a length.

spun poly are the best all round nets you cna get these days they have the properties of the old hemp nets and dont rot. nylon nets have there place aswell on clean areas there is nothing better as they tangle the conies up like nothing else allways best to have a few in your bag. but i would start off with the spun poly if i was you the cost is more but they will lead to more rabbits learn to tie your own its saves a good amount have a look at the stickies there are some net suppliers on there that are recommended

this time of year it can be very difficult to ferret as the rabbits are in prime breeding time most ferreters will have put the gear away fro the summer as there are lots of problems associated with ferreting at this time of the year. it can also lead to your ferrets staying down as they can easily kill the youngsters and a doe that wont move off the nest. my advice to you would be to leave it a few months till late spetember then try and get out with someone then it may prove to be a lot more productive. dont get me wrong i have a do ferret when required in the summer but i have permissi

Schmidt Bender 8x56 or 6x42?
muddy210 replied to Helmuthunter's topic in Reloading and Gun Maintenance
got the 6x42 on me stalking rifle and its fantastic cannot fault it in anyway never needed anything bigger for a deer rifle perfect in the woods or in the field its a good scope for any of the ranges you are gonna shoot them at -
i went out with the rimmy the other day got me freezer refilled but this weather the flies are on the rabbits in minutes even feeding later on going through a few rabbits trying to keep them fresh might have to get some dry in there to keep em fed for now
-
as above i have feed in with them all the time as for the nipping just keep up the handling. give them a good feed of some raw mince then when they have had a belly full just pick them up and stroke them they will come round to it in the end it can take a good while for some ferts to stop nipping got a hob here who took about 16 weeks before he was truly out of have a nip hes soft as grease now though.
-
frontline spray is the only one to use and is only available from a vet not worth using anything else for ferrets its lasts a bloody long time and read the instructions on iy as its quite a powerful chemical.

agouti is the bollocks for net making materials personally dont go anywhere else

collect hazel sticks for pegs learn to tie your own nets and scour the freeads and ebay for stuff make your own box aswell if ya start now with the nets by season start you should have a few to get going with thios will cut your costs down loads vids on agouti website about net making and hes the man for supplies
-
well 5 hours in and you would think hes been here for ever he settled in comfy as you like. gonna give him another check up in the morning for more ticks then poss give him a wash with some kiddy shampoo. looks like hes got a bit of ear cancur aswell so ill give him a drop of ointment is this safe for ferts??????????? itys the dog stuff
-
i use both bottles and bowls never run out then
-
best thing ypu can do is spend time handling the ferrets your getting then spending some more time with them holding them till they get used to you and they stop nipping keep an eye on here for all the advice about biting as it appears every year when people get ferts there is no immeadiate answer to it just time and patience.
