  1. The 1.4 does slow focus just a bit but it is still quick enough for most things. Obviously you get 420mm out of a 300mm lens but it is f5.6 not f4. I always shoot RAW so would have used Adobe Lightroom or Canon DPP to process them. When you are using Raw does it slow the camera down in burst mode as opposed to jpeg. Thank you.
  2. Phil, as you have had many collie grey types and you know the abilities and temperaments of those types would you say you could detect the 1/4 bedlington in Moocher as opposed to the cur type without the touch of beddy. Hope you understand my question, not the best with words.
  3. My late father raced non ped for a lot of years with decent success. I used to give them a go on the rabbits, catch no problem, firey things but did get a lot of injurys mainly toes. Most lines have a fair bit of greyhound in as his did. If he had any young ones he bred that were a yard short on pace he gave a few away for pets and some to ranching lads, never heard a bad word about any that went for ranching. This bitch could shift, some good breeding, its litter sister in breeding of Denisied Belle, So Perfect. These 2 bitches out of bitch above, both champions. Sired by Drea
  4. Disgraceful, don't know how he can sleep at night.
  5. I mainly use 4' 6" nets i make myself, poke nets the same. As said i put a fair bit down the hole for the rabbit to put weight on tho stop it flipping the net, i usually push the ring into the ground, same effect as what darbo has said which is a good idea i think. I will use smaller nets in the right situations where you want then to draw up fast on a smaller hole the net covers right, i always set the net first then set the peg as far away as possible so the net starts pursuing soon as the rabbit touches it.
  6. I think the type of dog that physicaly fits the type of work and type of land you require it to work is a good place to start, all lurchers should have drive and decent nose etc, horses for courses as they say. If you were starting fly fishing you would not go out and buy a beach caster.
  7. Been ripped off a few times in my life with seeing the good in everybody but this palava takes the biscuit.
  8. Get out now, better to have a watered down country than no country at all.
  9. My bitch will work cover but i don't think be anywhere near as fast in tight cover as a terrier or cocker.
  10. Is that the little black terrier you got off my mate stretch, some good dogs in that little bitch. Good luck with the breeding, if i wanted a dog for cover they would be ideal i think, i quite a fancy a cocker one day for a ferreting dog.
  11. get the Nikon Zoom-Nikkor 70-200 mm F/2.8 AF-S VR IF G ED or the f4 version I have the 70-200 2.8 great lens for action shots.
  12. Decent dog spud x whippet greyhound, good drive, nose, bit headstrong at first but settled down.
  13. The gimmick Hosker had some believe was that the dog was a world beater,at the time the Dales where resplendant with bunnys and any dog that saw residence was going to come to grips with them,i had a terrier that caught 11 in reed beds above Airton, spud lacked pace and determination, fact, possibly why it jacked, another fact, saying that i witnessed better dogs than Spud jack on rabbits when they saw to many around Malham, they became that accustomed to them they finally began to ignore them.Again few on here have ever had a dog that saw so many rabbits day after day after week after week after mo
  14. I rang deben up to get my mk1's fixed was told they don't fix then no more.
  15. I feed raw rabbit that has been frozen a month, obviously thawed. I give dry ferret food once a week. will feed pigeon pheasant or the like if i can get it. I also fish, when i fillet salmon i give rest to ferrets, heads also, they like it. Always have 3 water bottles, as said they drink a lot when on dry food. Good luck with it.

  17. I set quick set in triangles like terryd, if you get set right up the fence line forms pockets stops them running net line, also set 6yds stop nets 90% to the wire.
  18. Collie i had was my best ferreting dog, think you need to get a farm bred one, some collies to hyper.
  19. You certainly have on chicken man, that beddy whippet of yours is as good as you will get.
  20. Spent a day at Bills myself a couple of years back, as you say a very nice man with a wealth of knowledge.
  21. Good luck mate, hope you are feeling better and you get sorted with the right person.
  22. Just been handling a couple of young ferrets they are about 6 months old, they are in season, my older gills are just starting to break. They usually come in season late February early March, they are kept indoors so that brings them on faster but this is beyond a joke. Seasons have gone to pot.
