  1. Not been bothered by them while out on my own, but have experienced them while out with the hounds, and on grouse shoots. In all honesty if you have firearm with you pack it away and call the old bill. The antis more than likely will be commiting aggravated trespass, but dont expect the the cops to do much, or turn up super fast. I know this sounds a bit defeatist but you dont want any allegation of confrontation or threats of using your firearm against them, which they will say!
  2. Good morning out, weather looks a bit grim, but thats rabbiting
  3. My permissions are riddled with footpaths, wich are nothing more than the farmers land. If you cannot shoot on footpaths then for one how would you control your vermin and yes you must have good reason. As for highways I can and do shoot right next to them at times, as long as I fulfill the legal side of it, i.e. injured, interupted or endangered. As a user of the footpath, yes you have a right to be there, but so does somebody else legally entitled to do so, carrying out lawful activity. Be sensible , be safe and dont confuse public footpaths, with footpaths that are part of a highway.
  4. I use straw straight from the bail, that I get from one of my permissions. No issues.
  5. Well done, its nice to know your future stock actually work and aren't a waste of rations!
  6. Just watching Ray Means, and sure he is wearing Monsoon smock. I know he will get it free, but it won't be bad stuff!
  7. He still saw some action, and will have lived it. He looks like he follows the hounds as well. Similar motif to the Scarr view motif.
  8. Perfect range for the hmr. Nice to see improvised firing position.
  9. Nice bag and weather to boot!

    Cammo- why?

I wear Deerhunter RAM jackets trousers, and so do my lads because; A) when setting traps/snares or building trapping points, casual observers are less likely to spot you. when lying out with my rifle whacking corvids off a carcass, the sound of a rifle shot reverberating around the hills again attracts attention, which for me is unwanted. Wearing cam allows me to lie out undetected for those few minutes after the shot and until casual observers lose interest in what they have heard. C) Civilian cam patterns mimic the natural contrast in nature which as a result breaks up the natural outline
  11. is the box that bad lol yes i did mate cost me nothing to make does the job misses just freeked lol IT WAS HER THAT MADE IT LOL Tell her it aint that bad. (it looks bloody alright infact, but dont tell her that, it pays to keep them on their toes....lol)
  12. He looks well chuffed! No young rabbits left around us, they all grown up. Its great when new ferrets work ok. Did you make your box yourself?
  13. Got mine from bridport nets and its ok, but there may be better on the market. Bought mine when it was sale price with good discount. Then bought poles and plain longer before turning them into quicksets.
  14. IMO 25 yarders are good for ferreting, so 4 of them plus basket is a good price. Check you are getting the complete outfit though, with poles. If you need longer, just overlap them slightly.
  15. Nice haul both of you. Give us a few lines about the session next time....... .please!
  16. Brimmer. Its good to see that you had the patience to wait it out when numbers were down that much, there are plenty of people that wouldn't. When I was a kid we were always encouraged by my Dad, that when we were just after one for the pot, never to shoot the first one we came across. He always believed it would ensure the numbers would remain up. Thanks for the read.
  17. Nice one max, 8 is a good little bag. I like working those little bank warrens similar to those in your photos, they always seem quite productive. It's a shame about the dreaded myxy, but at least you found some that were clean from it. Nice to see a jack as well, there plenty about, but they don't appear in too many pictures on this site.
  18. OK Barky. First of all, most forces will not give you a ticket for fox control, on a rimfire rifle. This is not law, and is something that Chief Constables take responsibility for. So, on that note, you may need to look at a centrefire for foxes and there is a whole host of different calibres to choose from. If you are only ever going to go for foxes as the largest mammal you are likely to shoot, then as a starter rifle calibre, then a .223 could be what you are looking for. If you are really going to get into it, and start reloading, then my choice would be 22-250, but this is my personal ch
  19. i used to have the union flag, but it got changed and it wasnt me.dunno how to change it back My profile-edit my profile
  20. How about, all those who agree and have English, Welsh and Scottish flags shown, change them to the Union Jack. I will do mine as soon as I get home onto a proper computer.
  21. That's nice as well. Hope my ferrets don't get to hear about these!
  22. I think IanB was asking about one last week, might be worth PM him.
  23. I was driving through Wales the other day with my 7 year old lad, when he saw ARAF, written in the road. He said to me "Dad, what does ARAF mean?" I said "I think it means SLOW. He said (and this is the best bit) "Why dont they say that then!" Kids eh....... But he does have a point!
