Same as mate, the older one seems the worst and trembling but the young ones are just racing around every where and hiding in their tubes. Weve had them inside, and they seem ok after a couple of minutes, so back out they've gone!

Some really nice country there mate, very envious. Some nice open sets as well. Thanks for sharing.

Went out with my 10 year old today and between us we had a small mixed bag consisting of a squirrel, crow, grouse, couple of pheasant and a duck. Just wondered what you have had in a day as I am sure some have actually set out to achieve a big mixed bag!

Thanks for the replies, I'm going to have a practice with this stick, and maybe a few others.atb

There's been a murrrrrrda!
tegater replied to Mooch.'s topic in Gamekeeping, Conservation & Shoot Management
I am only guessing, but with the feathers the way they are and the breast attacked first, some form of birrrrd. Hard to tell off the picture but it does look like it has been started on, and not just ragged about. -
The riflemen dogman thread should have been removed as its clear it the OP was taking part in lurching foxes and moaning about the legal way of taking foxes unlike his own method. So the bickering on the THL seems to be between members who work within the law and the members who dont. I for have been involed in bickering one member said I needed taking out so I on the open forum said I am up your way name your place etc non of this you tube nonsense face to face errrr guess what errrr I didnt ssay I was going to do it was the reply. This forum is great but you need to weed out the real deal

Yep, I guess you are right. I have been doing tegater's game for 40 years, but I am new to this forum lark. Thankfully I learn quite a lit from the contributors, and will just have to be entertained by the others. Each to there own I suppose. Anyway I'm out with my lamp and rifle in half an hour. Hopefully whack a charlie that's just turned up.

Don't get me wrong mate I'm not trying to be a killjoy, and neither do I expect anything will happen as a result of what I say, I just don't get it on a site that has so many good contributors, why others have f*ck all of any use to say.

Is it my imagination, or since the clocks went back, there seems to be a lot of bickering on thl. Riflemen/dogmen topic was locked, there is one going on at the minute that is going the same way, to do with hares, and there seems to be some petty arguing on some others. Although entertaining at times, if its not constructive, is it really necessary. Why don't you pm each other and do it in private. Or go the Joe Davy way and do it on you tube.

Good ferreting digging and working boots???
tegater replied to farrierman's topic in Hunting Boots & Clothing
I wear Meindl Douvre, which are a high boot, and I cannot fault them. However there are some on here that say they have had problems with them. They are comfy, warm and waterproof. Good ankle support to. -
Made mine out of folded aluminium. As well as excellent on foxes, I have found them lethal on crows, just as its starting to get light in the morning, and they are first mouching about for stuff that has snuffed it in the night. The tin lid ones are good and easy to make, but if you keep them in your pocket they bend to easy.

yep, that what I use, razor sharp if you know what your doing.

how many people do not use ferret finders
tegater replied to goodisonblues's topic in Ferrets & Ferreting
I always use a mark 3 nowadays, but when I first started ferreting in the 70,s I only ever used a line because I was skint, which I didn't like doing after having one tangled up around a root. It didn't do it any harm, but I didn't like the idea of it after that. I then used a mark 1 for a while. Don't believe in using bells on ferrets, save those for cats. -
Strelok ballistic trajectory calculator.
tegater replied to davyt63's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
The other good thing with Strelok, is that if you have a reticle that is not on his database, he is very quick to update the app if you request it. -
Strelok ballistic trajectory calculator.
tegater replied to davyt63's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
I,ve had it on my HTC for sometime, along with shooter. I like the reticle for all different scopes with Strelok, which make it great for aiming off, but tend to use shooter more. -

It's not all 4 x 4. Up here in the pennines there are many places you can't use one for fox control, and then of course my favorite kind of fox work is the ambush across a valley, or moor, after days of ons, working out the best place to be for the shot, taking into account the route the fox will come in, the wind speed and direction, the back stop etc. I love the adrenaline when the grouse start growling or the curlew start going mad at the imminent approach of the vixen into your killing ground. I love the fact the fox doesn't know the fear of its imminent death. It's just lights out....... -

i'm sure your confident in your lads, but i wouldn't trust someone of that age with a shotgun no matter how well i knew them. that's not to say your wrong in doing so,i just wouldn't be willing to take responsibility for another persons actions in those circumstances. Fair play mate. -
Is your name Grant, and you used to live in Sheffield.......?

Number of foxes well done this year due to rifle men!
tegater replied to mighty dino's topic in General Talk
Coaching is about education, talking and allowing the child to learn. I have never had any reason to physically intervene, with my boys. They know that if they do something they shouldnt, they will be told about it. They know if they start to become dangerous then they will have the gun taken off them. As a Dad, it is my responsibility to ensure they are never put in a position, where that happens. It supervising them on a piece of elastic. I can understand your concerns, and I dont know your domestic circumstances, but trust me..it works. -

Why scary, you obviously dont know the law or read it before making a comment. Just because they have a cert. does not allow them to by a shotgun or shoot one unsupervised without adults. Oh im sorry if you dont agree ....but my personal preference would be not to let a junior have access to a shotgun whether supervised or not...bet most of that age cant even tie there own shoe laces let alone grasp the ramifications of the power a shotgun if used incorrectly....its easy to say supervised this and supervised that...lettin a child under the age of 10 access to a shotgun just beggars belief.
