  1. Apparantly if you leave a gun outside the ole it will shoot itself!!!! heeheehee!
  2. Fox control is not a "good reason" for most police forces, although the round is more than capable out to 140-150 metres depending on the skill of the user, and being able to hit the brain on a fully grown adult fox. My licensing officer in Greater Manchester accepts that it can be used for dispatching captured foxes. Remember that good reason is what you intend to use it for, and not what you may necessarily will use it for if the opportunity arises.
  3. John. Thanks very much, that is very useful to me. Kind regards
  4. Also it is highly recommended true cylinder choke, for safety and accuracy reasons.
  5. You can fire them through any magnum rated shotgun, but the slug must be specified on s1 ticket.
  6. Can anyone help me. I am after plans for an old style of fox trap called a "kyst" or Kist, used when a fox has been walled in. If there are no plans anywhere, can anyone post a photo of one, along with the trigger set. Thanks.
  7. Hi everyone, new member. Main interests, all kinds vermin shooting, particularly corvid and fox, ferreting to nets, just getting into long netting, practising dropping and picking up, ready for next season (probably wont use them in their night use,) and follow Scar View when they are on the right side of the pennines!!
  8. Lol, i have this as my ringtone!
  9. Hi everyone, i'm new to long netting and wonder if you can help. Once a net is loaded into the basket, it is already determined which side of the net, the poles are going to be when deployed and set. I understand that it is preferable to have the net on the wood side of the poles, (i.e. blowing away from the poles) but depending on which direction you are laying the net, this may not be possible. Unless, I am being really thick, does it matter if the net is blowing onto the poles? Thanks for any answers I get.
  10. Yea I agree, get the best you can afford, but have a look at the Leica 10 x 42 or better still, the 8 x 42 for light transmission. Awesome bit of glass, and they did it for me over the SLC. Use them nearly everyday, and wont go back to a cheap pair again.
  11. Depends what you want. I have a CZ 452, .17hmr, 16 inch varmint, with a Bushnell Banner 3-9 x40,and in the right conditions, I have had rabbits, crows, and hares out to 220 metres, on many occasion. The reticle is not as fine as some scopes, I admit, but the .17 is a working rifle, and this scope for about £, is well worth the money. Forget the illuminated reticle, its useless, and has loads of flare, like all cheap scopes.I do agree with previous comments, and that you should get the best you can afford. Its been chucked in and out of motors for the last couple of years (not literally) and n
  12. I use .308 AWP, with 3-12 x 50 S & B MDR. Works extremely well with Fed 168gr HPBT, or Hornady equiv with ballistic tip. Cheek piece not the most comfortable in prone, but this can be adapted with neoprene, chamois etc. The weight of the rifle along with mod (use atra), greatly assists accuracy. Also use .338 with same setup and lapua ammo, no mod, to much the same effect. It's not the most user friendly rifle for stalking, due to weight, but for target shooting, ambushing fox, or large game, its ideal.
