great minds ! I suppose we're biased Lara.... But I do think it's a lovely place.... We go to North Cornwall 3 or 4 times a year for breaks, hour down the road and it don't get much better... Do you get back often?

Come down to Devon mate, or on a bit to Cornwall... Top Beaches, moors, villages and some nice places to eat and drink... Bit of a jaunt but worth it..

Same as that mate, but I NEVER pay that surcharge they just add on your bill, f***ing piss take......I always tell them to take it off and make sure the waitress or waiter gets the drink direct in their hand.....if they deserve it. The nicer places don't seem to add it on direct, you give them it yourself. Totaly agree.... more in the bosses pocket and not the staff in my book.... tip who's serving you....... if you tip tip the taxi driver you don't tip the whole rank do you?

I've had some of the best meals in smaller less fancy restaurants where you get to know the staff and when you walk in there pleased to see you... I've had shit meals in some so called top restaurants the most notable in Gordon Ramseys place in New York, the food was crap and so was the service.... I enjoy eating out.... Personally I tip the waiter or waitress who are dealing with me personally, if I pay for the meal with a card I don't add the tip to the bill I pay the waiter in cash... I won't pay 12.5% service charge on the bill, I pay the cost of the meal and then tip the waiter.... As

Cscs, working at heights, 1 man per gang 5 day SSS ( site safety supervisor), We have 4 of us doing an NVQ at the minute in management, so we can get the black card some of the main contractors require .. Public liability, employers liability, contractors all risk, professional indemnity ( for design work).... IPAF ( for tele handler, scissor lift etc), ticket to put up Ali towers ( pasma I think), asbestos awareness ticket... The list goes on with certification for site work.... It ain't easy anymore..

Not a chance mate, the new builds are awful, whole sites thrown up in months Ffs.... It's all about hitting deadlines.... I don't work on the housing side, more industrial and commercial buildings.... But like you say, more and more its price driven now.. Even customers I've worked with for years want they're pound of flesh.. And the bigger main contractors are cutting it to the bone, it's a hard market place now...... Brickies seem to have been hit hardest on the rates in recent years, a lot of mates are on less than 100 a day, poor sites, poorly run and shit rates, problem is you kick off and someone comes along and does it, and so the shit rates remain..... But ( around here anyway) there is a lot of work, if your decent your working.... Dealing with main contractors is a ball ache.... 2.5% discount and 5% retention ( which you've got to fight for a year later).... But that's supplying materials and labour... Personally I think your money would be better spent going through all your old invoices, putting the names and addresses on a database and doing a mail shot to them every month.....that and the good old phone just letting them know you have moved.I don't know a single person who looks on line in the first instance for such work, they will always ask mates first.....they only look online for that as a last resort........garages live off word of mouth because no one trusts them if they don't know them or at least someone who they know, knows them. I don't think the ex UTD players mentioned could ever lose the respect of UTD fans ( Solskjaer, Giggs, Neville) they've done too much for the club, but I see what Malt means regards if they are actually the right people for it....
