i can gaurantee you that no genuine digging man in ireland(i mean genuine, not the rest)would have a plummer dog in their yard.they never have or will stick the pace of long digs of many hours over many seasons.they maybe fine to kill a few rats and hunt some cover but they are not working dogs. ive had plummers to ground 4,5, hours. They have an awful name over here in ireland so there must be some shite ones knocking about.I got mine from a guy in ballinasloe co.galway-best 200euro i ever spent.Unfortunately she got run over by my brother in the yard about a year back.I bred two litters

Murphys law being what it is ,youll probably end up "giving swimming lessons" to the best pups in the litter. To my mind the word cull has a kind of selectivity inherent in it. i.e removing an adult dog from the genepool because its sh1t.As somebody said earlier dont count your chickens before they hatch.

maybe its the name of a strain or a kennel club prefix

and if you click on canid hybrids it takes you to this page.i rest my case http://en.wikipedia....ki/Canid_hybrid SPECIES not BREED Tinytiger im not being pedantic about this, you mentioned breeding for hybrid vigour which if you do know anything about genetics you ARENT doing.dont call one thing by the name of another, anyone who doesnt know anything about genetics reading your post will believe what you are saying whereas anyone who does know anything about genetics and dog breeding will of course know different.its wrong to put things like this in the public domain as thats how myt

thanks half n half, intra-specific hybrid thats the one. Wippydoo:theres no point getting bogged down with semantics ,I KNOW WHAT I MEAN AND SO DO YOU.-words are only sounds people put meaning to and have nothing to do with how your dog performs

why have the last 9 or 10 english and irish greyhound derby winners been first cross australian x irish/english bloodlines.I get what you are trying to say but the same rules apply, just to a lesser extent than with mules. I.M.O both sides need to be fairly inbred(and good) to get it.

Earthdogs with Bull blood
tinytiger replied to Black Dog Enthusiast's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
Id use the bull on a russell type rather than a fell/lakeland/patterdale.some of the best working terriers ive seen were bull/russels of various descriptions.I think the fell types are hard enough as it is. -
Yes I made this video for myself & for manchester terrier breeders to what i was putting back into there dogs as they had lost it in there breeding, I know my bitch didn`t do anything that any well bred lurcher wont do, but you try and get a 100% manchester to do. not a chance, but they have a good look that i wanted in my line. I started my old bitch at 6 months with my old bedlingto ferreting rabbits, at 15 months she was lamping rabbits, at 2years + she was a single handed hare dog, no word of a lie. The best I had. We and went coursing alot at that time with the "Puckeridge Cou

Yes stick to the original type of lurchers lyk Manchester terriers breed from the old english black & tan by crossing to whippets for rabbiting, rating, and taking fox. who needs all these new breeds saluki geys, colli greys, beddy grey, bull greys and your basic lurcher cross lurcher these people just make you laugh ! ££££££££££££ A quotation from Bewicks book The General History of Quadrupeds, published in 1790 confirms the continued existence of the type and states “There are two types of terrier, one being smooth and sleek, beautifully formed, reddish brown or bla

if its a greyhound and her last heat was say ,10+ months ago id say its ok.Otherwise id wait till another heat, itll give you a better chance to see if the litter is worth repeating.

yorkshire terrier x patterdale
tinytiger replied to coursing man's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
I know of a bitch, chocolate colour(not sure if shes a first cross).vicious temper, snappy, good ratter..I had a bitch when i was young with a dash of yorkie in her,and she killed several foxes. -
The dangerous dogs act in britain is a load of sh1t,Pit bull type is a very loose definition, and could potentially be any dog with a big head etc.Best of luck getting one over anyway.
-
I think there was 5 different kinds of greyhound in england at one stage(all ideal for their own locality),they all contributed to the dogs we have today. good article by the way -thanks for posting it.

when im starting a terrier,I try to stack everything in its favour(at first),hence the 2 dogs,i wouldnt let a terrier to ground with a dog its not used of.dogs eat the arse off another dog because they want to ,not because they cant see etc.If you were training a youngfella to box,you wouldnt put him with mike tyson in his first bout, you dont have to be in a car crash to be a good driver. no young dog worth its salt needs to be doubled up,those that do have no place with me.i think you are on a losing battle trying to persuade experienced digging men that plummers make reliable, single hand

is the adult bitch doing any bit?she looks very fresh around the head. Shes seen a bit, killed a fox in a drain in short order 2 weeks after those photos were taken,I bred her, but she was out of my hands until she was 13 months didnt enter till she was maybe 18 months and has been dug to a dozen or so times since.THe pups off her are f2s i.e 3/4 plummer 1/4 pitbull.with that breeding i did i was chasing the bitches dam(R.I>P) who was the gamest ive seen(well in the top 2)-shes both grandmothers of the pups so you had a dozen digs with her and then bred her?plummers are poor eno
