  8. i tried it myself a few years ago dixiefried but the bitch missed and was robbed a few months later.i.m.o they are very similar types of terrier.
  9. id say 70s pablo but most of todays dogs would go back to a handful of dogs and bitches in the 90s and late 80s.
  10. why would you be culling pups cargol-are you able to spot the non-workers while theyre still young.
  11. your assuming every mrs walshie over the last 800 odd years was faithful to her husband lol--id agree with you about nationality though-there is definitely an ethnic element to it ,the word nation comes from the latin for grandson/descendent
  12. wouldnt be quite the same id say,,ive heard of greyhounds whelping litters at that age with no problems ,,did having pups take a lot out of her when she had them before or did she take it in her stride?
  13. theyre beauties smasher, troy turbo stuff?
  14. shitetalk- they are all irish/australian bred these days--english lines died out with the water loo cup--and before you mention nick savva /english lines-where did his dogs come from-a bit like calling a patterdale an irish breed
  15. theres a guy on here with the brother of your dog (has a pack of teagle types-Brock dog is his name)-jamie 2007 live was the sire of your dads owner(i think)-maybe if you check back through old posts you could find his number
  16. a friend of mine freecasts a border/lakie with the collar on her-finds a good few that way
  17. thought they were fox -terriers lol---had a greyhound once that used do the same as the blackdog
  18. is genetics always the reason for that though?maybe the lesser performer was cheap to breed to ,therefore got loads of bitches/mares and some of the pups/foals were bound to be good.
  19. You can get rid of any fault by in breeding even if both of your origional stock have the fault, but you do have to cull without question,to purefy the genes. I always try to remember that genes from both parents divide and rejoin randomly to form whole genes again in the offspring. This is simplifying it but its easier to understand. If you think of a gene as being a whole thing but made up of two parts. It can be DD double dominant, DR Dominant/recessive or RR double recessive. Thats how you can breed together two dogs that both express eg, determination but neither are pure DD for that trai
  20. big teeth, strong jaws, small enough to get to ground
  21. had a kind of kennell accident today-plummer(mainly) dog covered a cocker bitch off field trialling stuff.I thought she was gone out but terrier pup had other ideas.Id say they might make cracking bushers.
  22. saw a couple of them at a show in clonmel a few years back,,they certainly have the tools to do a bit of damage-pity theres no one using them as earth dogs anymore
  23. How did people go from this type of Russel to what's about now, without breeding for looks? would the dogs from the cork line be anything like them? a lot of parson jrs look suspiciously like wirehaired fox terriers to me
  24. id say the best are still in Britain and Ireland--just because of stupid laws and thieving feckers people wouldn't be crowing about tbem
