    a friend of mine had one 2 or 3 years back..got it for free as it was too big for shows ..good hunter above ground but extremely bad for fighting with other dogs

    Most of the outatanding workers ive seen were complete outcrosses..freaks though-threw litters that looked like theyd 8 different fathers.

Didn't he have some trouble with blindness in a certain line?Bit contraversial mate so wont put names up suffice to say ive heard nothing about any blindness in his stuff . he wrote about it in the book about him,cant remember the dogs name...must be a pure sickner when a good one goes blind

And your doing my f***ing head in with your mongolism you must bred too close. llewellen who started the english setter bred full brother to full sister for over 50 years..theres a racehorse statistician (david dink) who went trrough every foal born in the u.s studbook...2x2 to the same stallion outperformed its expected results(i.e high winnings;very low sales price as a foal)...some supposed nicks such as 3x3 northern dancer on the sirelines turned to be less than average unless it was via 2 specific horses(danzig and nijinsky)

    digging racoons or groundhogs id say..id imagine the bigger dogs are for working racoons in barns etc.

    as far as i know the patterdale bitch used originally was top notch.(according to americans ive spoke to on here).

    id say a family is more specific..i.e dogs that have thrown to a particular type(work included)and are also descended from specific dogs or bitches.

    The crossbred litter I bred about 2years back would be bred similarly and going well as earth dogs(same grandsire and damline_theyre black though)
