  1. Not sure about pups but with military dogs I've heard when retired they just give them the bolt gun Police dogs at least get rehomed when retired and the ones that aren't up to scratch for training are often re-homed.
  2. I'd quite like to know what experience and firearms you already had ? Just out of curiosity And does it now specifically state DEER on your FAC ? ... because mine States Deer and then also states AOLQ. I think most specifically state deer so would watch what yours says mate. I ask because they were very arsey about me having deer put on without doing the DSC1 and my mate also got turned down recently on a 243 but allowed a 22-250.
  3. Is he quite racey ? I saw this litter and wondered how quick they will come and what they will catch Not dissing your dog mate , just wondering is all .. hope he does everything you want of him
  4. Spoke to a farmer last week that I get Barley off for duck ponds / deer. He said they won't for another 4 weeks as they are having a late season. Having trouble getting any atm, need some to feed my deer spot lol
  5. Where by are ya pal ? What's the dam n sires breeding please
  6. No need to have a pissy fit pal, your the one that come on here and asked for our thoughts and advice, the consensus seems to be it would be barely any difference between the 22wmr and the 17 hmr, if you want to step up get a centrefire. If you don't want to listen to our thoughts and advice then it don't matter to me, but then why come and ask for them to begin with ? just go and apply for whatever calibre you want
  7. These 2 are making regular appearances on my camera now, Last week I dumped a big bag of Barley that I had left over from feeding flight ponds and have had ALOT of activity from the deer since I am very impressed. Might think of a better way to feed it than just dump a pile on the ground. ANYWAYS - here's the vid Now sure how to attach video sorry lads http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5NGFuMyMdPc
  8. Do you really need one ? ... if going that high I'd just opt for possibly a 22 hornet, if you reload I hear they are cheaper to run than the 17HMR
  9. I'm not sure whether it's worth going out yet, wild life camera's been out a few weeks now and don't seem to be nothing but does about
  10. Get loads more teal than mallard into my ponds which are barley fed
  11. Lab it gives off a small red light I think which is the IR flash. I think the more expensive ones don't do this but I wouldn't know as I got a cheap one lol
  12. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PGadRBis89o Video in the dark mate
  13. I've been getting more involved with some land I have , so trekked into the woods and set up this wild life camera I got on offer in ALDI (£) , there still a few left in a store by me so might be worth checking your locals This is some footage I got with mine https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IpBLNRxKKfY I'm quite impressed, will be getting up there end of season with some tools to clear some rides and make a clearing in some places. Hopefully bring it along nicely
  14. I just put some salt licks and molasses out today, with a game camera. Got Fallow in the area so hoping to attract a few
  15. I seen 2 today, 6 weeks old, down the welsh game fair, tucked into a blokes jacket, dog and a bitch, the dog is white with black patches. £100 , they were from Merthyr in South Wales, not a huge difference for the right dog, PM me if you want the phone number and I'll pass it on, think they said they got 1 other dog in the house left but not sure would have to speak to them
  16. Looks a cracker, how does she work ? how talk tts did she make ? This is a cross I have tried to look for / at as hoping to pick one up
  17. Do you pa for your stalking pal or are all you scotts blessed with abundant deer up there
  18. Also be for a first time lurcher owner ... any reason for saying that Big Bald Beautiful ? ... Sandy - I did think that but was unsure as have heard they won't always throw the way you want and you never know . If I was doing that would probally try n find a beddy/grey x collie/grey - hoping the dog would make around 24"
  19. I am just wondering for interest's sake about the pro's and con's of 2 different crosses that take my fancy. 1st - Beddy/whippet x grey 2nd - Collie/grey x whippet pro's and con's of either cross would be interesting to hear. The ground I am on is small field's, sand dunes, lots of gorse, hilly ground and some forestry ... Cheers for any help guys
  20. get a pup pal i took on a 8 month springer that had been mistreated and its only now at 18 months her mind and confidence is suitable for training. if you get a pup you can start bonding at the crucial age and start training as soon as the dog is ready jmo, other peoples mistakes are hard to rectify atb with what ever you choose cammy Theres a big difference between a 8 month pup that's been mistreated and a 2 year old dog that's had all the basics done by someone who trials there dog in competitions
  21. haven't got anything pal, text my mate to ask if its ok to pass on his details, will be in touch
  22. Retriever Training - Susan Scales Training the working retriever - Anthea Lawrence Best bet is to get out with someone who knows what there doing.
  23. Where in Wales are you pal ? Mate of mine has a dog going for sale, I THINK he's coming up 2 year old, is part trained, mostly doing the job but my pal hasn't done a lot with him, had him off a field trialler who done all the basics but he didn't have enough style to be a champion so moved him on, obv this means he has good breading. My mate paid £400 for him and I think he just wants back what he paid nothing extra for any work n time he put into him. Would possibly make a good dog for you if interested as could just finish off the training this summer and get to work for the comi
  24. What's the process with them pal if you don't mind me asking, cheers
