If it had beardie in it, I can well understand not getting another. Taffy, beardie/border x grey, was the sire to one of my old dogs, caught me loads of deer and hare, probably my best catch dog. But the c**t did my head in, and almost every dog I've seen with beardie in from there has been the same, from his original beardies and the ones he's got now. The border crosses have been far more responsive and amenable, and are just as tough and as good at working as the dogs with beardie in. I'd never have another dog with beardie in. Life's too short

You've just gone and given socks an excuse to batter whippets and all their shortcomings! I can see it already. 'yeah more than just speed: fragilty, crap feet, too weak, shit coat, no power' etc etc etc lol
-
You lads may scoff about these southern rabbits, but I tell ye, ye've to watch em! Mean, fast, orrible fecking things, they've an unnerving presence about em! Aaaye, ye've got to watch em. And did I mention, intelligent, but sly with it!

Looks good, I like these small whippety types with a dash of collie in. Very nice
-
Not blaming any dog for it's colour. Might well be a worldbeater, I just can't stand the colour
-
I have to say, that was true the times I've been there. Many of the dogs were roaming around, and coming up to meet us etc. Albus in particular, seemed to like my company lol

You're right in what you say. I said similar a couple of years back, in the shooting section. People moan about payng a certain price for a dog, but think nothing of spending more than a grand for an air rifle, or in many cases with shotguns, fecking thousands, yet begrudge spending a few hundred on a dog that'll last them 12 - 15 years! And the last few years, the prices of these 'cockerpugs' or whatever crossbred piece of shite, well, anywhere from £600 - £1200. f***ing madness!! £300 or thereabouts is peanuts really for a lurcher you can be sure about it's parentage

I know this aint really the topic, but it follows on with the colour preference. Whilst some lighter/paler merles are not my cup of tea, some of the really dark red or blue/black merles are striking looking dogs. The only colour of dog, whatever the breed, that literally makes me puke , are liver/chocolate or whatever the colour is called, with those sickly, horrible brown noses. .......

Your dogs aint shit, southern rabbits are definitely faster, and more intelligent, than their northern counterparts

If you listen to half the muppets on here, you'll be in a world of trouble! Lol

Do you shoot directly of those primos mate, or rest your hand on and then shoot? -
Above post not a dig at you Attaboy, just alot of lurcher owners in general these days. To me, you've shown a modicum of good sense. Good luck with your pup

Like you say, could be any number of reasons for the age someone starts their dog. And lets face facts here as well, 18 months isn't exactly a late start! I'd far rather that than starting too soon. Look at the amount of dogs that suddenly become 'available' from the age of 10 - 14 months, 'just right for starting.' They've already had the guts run out of them, and are already ruined, injured, started yapping or any amount of reasons as to why they are now suddenly 'unsuitable' or whatever for their 'owners' needs! Patience is a rare thing with the majority of lurcher and terrier owners the

FastDogz, don't let some of the members on here put you off your pup. It looks a cracker. and you sound like you know your own mind anyway. And most people, whatever they tell you, WILL pick the pup that appeals to them aesthetically first. And if, after you've had a look at your pup and it doesn't really suit, like you've said, you're under no obligation to buy. Good luck with it, I hope it does suit, it looks a cracker
