  1. mine mainly get cabbage and carrot raw, full of vits and minerals
  2. ok not a lurcher, but i have sheep dog bitch that i did the basics with sheep, she was showing good promise so i sent her away to be professionally trained, she would not even look at the sheep, two wks went and he phoned me up and said he didn't think there was much chance with her. i turned up he though i was having him on about the bitch working, i showed him what the bitch could do, he just said that's the bond between man and dog! decent man didn't even charge! i just covered him for her feed
  3. I fed no carbs at all for a few months but a few people told me that they really do benefit from them. So I started feeding a slice of brown bread with her evening meal and her energy levels really did increase. Hence why I want to feed a complete with the raw so I know she's getting some carbs, vitamins and minerals. The night before when i know i'll be working the terriers or lurcher then i would give them a lot more fat! That will get their energy levels up!
  4. mine get raw only pork, beef, lamb and chicken, with the odd bit of cabbage, carrot and codliver oil once or twice a week, don't bother with mixing anything with it. I will never go back to complete now!
  5. Possibly the greatest load of shit ever written on THL.

    Buttercup

ffs 8 pages and still no photo! wasted 5 min of my life
  7. A terrier like any other working dog if not more importantly needs to be bouncing fit before work. Why would you set your dog up to fail from being un-fit and out of condition. Its hard enough for them working so you need everything in their favour. Also a dog in good condition prior to work recovers a lot quicker.
  8. is this the sort of subject that should be talked about online in this current climate? ffs some of the stuff said on here...come on boys use your heads
  9. Trotters are nothing for a lurcher, keeps mine quiet for 10 minutes or so eats the lot. Good bit of fat on them that's about all. Pork meat is one of the best sources of protein for dogs, mine thrive on it!
  10. Sorry to go off the topic a bit but i have a kelpi collie cross, i have trained her to work sheep very good driving dog, use her out with the terrier and lurcher, and she loves to hunt with a keen nose, but what she lacks is the killer instinct, where she likes the hunt more than the kill bit like a hound. Temped to cross her to get a nice rabbitin dog, would a keen greyhound over her cure this? Apart from this shes tough as old boots, quick, agile, over obedient and loves to please.
  11. sorry miss read, my lamp is a striker 170 variable
  12. i have one, good things and that talk about it takes time from low to full light is rubbish!
  13. walking, trotting beside bike and flirt pole, do not over do it build up gradually.
  14. went out, same ground soaking, no wind, but in the local village there must have been a disco or something, music was blaring which probabily helped, only out for an hour the dog had three runs, missed the first one just got into the hole, caught the second one and missed the last one. just pleased that the pup is finally coming together and catching a few now!
  15. just out of interest where and how much did you pay? mine has just run out! because mine are on meat i use the codliver oil to mix the veg up with, just enough to cover the veg, say twice a week.
  16. You cant go wrong with the new B&F, well cant fault mine anyway!
  17. when i bought my house i turned the garage into a kennel block, the water bowls never froze over last winter, so i would say they were fine sleeping in their boxes with straw and shavings as bedding. Saying that when the temperature was predicted to be extra cold i would leave the heat lamp on to take the chill off. The way i see it the dogs work hard enough for me so when thier back in their runs they deserve some comfort to recover without shivering all night and loosing condition just to keep warm.
  18. i have mention it before, best trousers i have ever worn are the greys grxi extreme, windproof, waterproof, really breathable, hardwearing, easy movement, the good points go on and on...!!! lol
  19. Yes they are waterproof, but not good if walking long distances
