    Ive got a pup pat 8-9 months now, bolted a red one for a keeper friend on a shooting estate! Around 3 months ago the pup was about 6 months old roughly! Charlie got away Anyway the pup was doing his nut in so after the older dog said nothing else was at home let the pup have a go, The pup had a real good look round and i was real chuffed with the little boy! Excellent learling curve and to top it all off he emerged from the place where it bolted which showed that it was using its nose!

    Got a black pup bred right about 8 months old at the moments took it out for a dig about 2-3 months ago, reddun bolted out of unseen hole, during all this the pup was doing his nut in, neva seen a hole before or charlie, but it was in him, once the dog showed and had no interest in going back in, i let the pup in for a look. Nothing wrong in that good experience for him and no harm could be done with him. I want the pup to turn out fairly hard and i wount risk it, so he wount see anything nasty untill hes nearly 2 years old. Breeding counts for every thing!

    I had 2 litter sisters by buster nither evan showed a intrest in the job till they were 2year old then 1 started and worked well and the other was scared of dark i rec and teath, i took her back to brian and he gave me my money back.Fair play to nuttall he keeps his word. Off course he would give you your money back that bitch is 2 years old and is ready to breed off to sell another litter.

    They are all small things, not sure how they would manage a angry big dog fox charging them! dount think they would hold it!

    10 months old enough to have a look behind a shovell, give it a min or so dount let it mix, despatch it let the dog see it, again dount let it rag it, take it away and give it the summer off. By oct it should be keen as mustard.

    Spot on mate, get some pics next time let us have a look how old is the plummer, i have never seen one work to ground, not having a go just no one i know has one Shes around 2.5-3 years old with out looking and her second season of work, shes bolted pleanty and been dug to the other type pleanty but neva untill now being dug to a red un. Ive still got it in the truck now, starting to stink abit!lol was going to get head mounted, phoned up yeasterday moring to find out a bit more and it was £135 bit to steep for me! will sort some photos out now!

    Well done pal, went out last nt as well farmer losing abit with this time of year about 12 so far, checked 4 places all well used nothing at home came to the last place dog in, dog settled after 10 min. Ran back to truck to get tools dug down 2 foot and my little plummer bitch and she had a good grip of it and it was going nowhere! coulnt belive it 1st red un i have dug to her. Had a look at it afterwards and she was barren probabily the one causing the damage!

    Thanks for the info boys, thats all ive been thinking about since ive seen them last night. What i am going to do is to have another look at them next week and see if i can go for a scout out with him, good honest lad, and considering the age of the pups he had kept the mother in A1 condition. And more than anything he didnt care much about about the money and didnt want much for them, just a gd home, which is very rare these days. If i decide to take one i will give more than he wanted as its not cheap rearing a litter. The pups were top quality.

    Hi all, went to see a litter of pups last nt bit dubious with the breading, but came away a little more than impresed. Nice well reared pups. Mother Doberman and father well tempered and and had obvious signs that they were doing a job. Mother quite racy for a dob 26"tts, he was honest enough that on rabbits she struggled a bit turning but on the red uns she was fine. I could see that she was well controled and he said that she had pleanty of guts and the father 24"tts was working everything fine. Was even offered to go out on the lamp but due to helping lambing i didnt have the time. Just wa

    Keeping the bloodline close is the best way of consistently throwing workers simple as that, when outcrossing to other blood you would make sure that that was 1/4 / 1/2 related. You have just got to make sure that when your breeding so close your original dogs have no major faults. Other wise your doubling up on the bad points. With the bad mouth losing teeth quicker and one with a tidy mouth. Doest make a blind bit of differnece it its a hard type of dog and mixes a fair bit it will lose teeth.

    Get an old singal barrel 410, dount waste two much money cos it will take a hammering digging, put a sling on it and its light enough to carry all day when carring other tools. mines a 26 inch barell and its length has never been a problem to do the job. It does the job brilliant!

    I can see where your coming from with the bull x's, been out lamping with one its a 5/8 3/8 its brilliant on its own hard and nails anything. But if i owned it it would be pts its an absoloute liability digging wise and it would nail a terrier as good as look at it. seen another whippet 1/4 bull and that as well not so powerfull as the first dog but that also you got to be carefull digging wise. These are my only two experiences of the cross and probabily not good examples of the breed. Do these crosses lack the brains of the deerhound crosses?

    Hello! just your opinions, I have works and kept terriers since i was 15 now 26 and i have decided its time for a lurcher. I have managed to train a few of my plummer crosses quite well, various commands, hand signals, working with ferret ect... I am wondering that if i can get a fair bit of control on a terrier will a lurcher be generally easier to train? Also the cross that i am gearing towards would be deer/grey with a bit of whippet blood to get the size down a bit. How suitable would this cross be for a first lurcher and the work that i have planned for it? I intend to use the dog inste
