  1. Wouldn’t say there’s many people actually doing any decent work every day of the week with a dog if they got a job an a family it’d be more when times available unless you are retired or sit on the doll. There’s a daily walk/mooch but is that actually classed as proper work if a dogs only limitedly finding runs an not catching 365days of the year
  2. If it was doing what you wanted it’d not be the wrong choice if that’s what you think would give you the results you require it’s never the wrong choice if it’s what you personally want. I’ve noticed people get really anal when bull blood is mentioned what’s that all about?
  3. Heard he still breeding but not as a commercial breeder to get round all the guidelines of a breeding kennel
  4. You wouldn’t need to handle no enthusiasts if your breeding for your self mate it’s a case of f**k em if it’s for what you need but once you bred your litter an got your f1 for a crack at most thinks we’re do you go from there that’s the question I think any lurcher breeding is hard to get good dogs because we can’t guarantee what the results would be it’s gotta be easier just to buy a f1 in hope for the best bring them on then go from there if you want to continue on. I think most of us lurcher people would like to keep our own stuff what ever cross it is if it suits what we do id like to kee
  5. Your find what your after mate.can’t rate a mix of collie an beddy mix Lurcher high enough ??
  6. I know the collie xs capability’s well mate I’ve a retired one sat here an her granddaughter a beddy collie type the other side of me. ?modern times mate surely all those people out there ain’t got it all wrong for modern day hunting not using a collie x Surly not
  7. Mate I’m always happy with a couple of rabbits ??
  8. People have found them in modern times incapable so have moved on to breed collie xs from the capable in to other xs more suited to be ready for anything types that can ferret/lamp mooch an be used for many types of hunting just because they may have a bit of bull or Wheaton in them don’t mean they not capable I know a lad with a 28-29tts Sal/bull/greyhound x catch rabbits as good as any
  9. That’s why planning ahead is a good thing because you get time to see what the pair are all about before a decision is made it also gives time to find a better stud or dam than doing a rush job last minute if not to expectations
  10. With the lurcher section I think a lot of people have just given up contributing anything of any worth of reading you could share a post of how well a dogs doing or do a write up or try asking for advice or questions it’s the same old fools that come out the wood work to start shit, argue an ruin a post then play the victim card or the honesty card when you bite back it’s not worth waisting the time tbh .it’s the same people trying to make out they know a good dog they only keep good dogs an are out regularly as clock work and they do loads an no one as done as much as them.
  11. Think a good beddy greyhound mixes nicely with other xs normally producing handy pot hunting dogs for general use ive seen it a good number of times over the years with over bred dogs that gets put back to a f1s don’t know what it is but they tend to produce high prey driven dogs with good noses, decent coat, trainable, decent enough feet well constructed for running
  12. Always gotta keep your options open mate that’s the beauty about dogs were as bitchs you’d need to make your mind up if you wanted a little by 5-6yrs old but a dog you can get a litter out of them later on in yrs
  13. Think something similar type to that bitch of mine would make a nice little litter but with my bitches breeding because there’s so much in there it’d be a right scatter breeding I mean with my original litter/s the first litter was relatively even just rough an smooth the second litter that was a repeat mating same dam an sire it was a right hotch potch litter some were like collie crosses some like beddy crosses all at various heights tts I had one to look at you’d say none ped (whippet greyhound) for my bitch I’ve got now if I was to breed in the future it’d have to go to a greyhound as her
  14. Always got to plan ahead mate better than leaving it till last minute?? If it was me it’d be to a beddy greyhound type with a bit of size an bone to it wouldn’t want to add anymore whippet in there but saying that what ever you put him to you could still get throw backs smaller than you already have but gotta be worth the chance if your happy with the dog??
  15. I think it’d be interesting to do a dna to see what it come back with my last litter I done didn’t pick up deerhound or any collie although it’s definitely in there it come back as bedlington/greyhound/whippet the dog that was tested looked like a smooth collie x I’m guessing not a lot would be picked up bar beddy greyhound being the most potent in the mix but to be honest I’m a tight git I don’t think I’d want to waist money just to find out something that’s not really that important
  16. Cheers mate ??I like to just say collie/bedlington greyhound hybrid posh term for skatter bred?there’s just about everything in them in some percentage even border terrier an saluki on one side but the grand sires on both sides of the breeding was f1 beddy greyhound
  17. Cheers mate ??It’s lovely mate I’ve only been using the one farm not as many rabbits about as I was hoping for but there is some on there to keep ticking over on ive gotta get on the other farm for a look at some point
  18. I’ve this young bitch she’s 19months old now it’s her first season she’s doing very well for me considering the lack of rabbits she’ll ferret/lamp/mooch for me I love her attitude to work she’s proving very handy I’m really happy with her.I’ve had a shit run with dogs the past 5-6yrs with 2 dieing then the mother crippled her self then the next young un wouldn’t pull anything other than rabbits so started again with a fresh pup The covid stuff hasn’t effected us getting out doing a bit tbh as we live rural we gained 2 new big bits of permissions so that lightened the covid situation up a bit
  19. Good vid trev ?? Stuff all the nay sayers let em talk that’s all they good at talking! the difference is your out doing a bit getting your dogs work an enjoying them working your probably fined it stems from jealousy why there chatting poo because they probably ain’t hardly got any rabbits like the rest of us coming south down the country an they gotta look extra hard an put time in to get there dogs the work on them in I’m in the same boat on the rabbit front I have to look hard for runs an put the hours after dark in to get some catches in I do share a bit of envy for all you guys with decen
  20. I’m in the same opinion about the safety guidelines issued by government load a bollox saying one thing but only applies if your working but in your own times your under house arrest trying to fine me would be like trying to extract blood from a stone ?I feel the last bit about the only one who as a say is the misses to right pal ??
  21. Us site/building lads are not classed as key workers were classed as people that can still work under safety guidelines issued by government lol an are not able to work from home so basically we’re just there to keep the economy ticking over nicely
  22. My personal preference is bitches I bond with them better an can get them to do my bidding pretty easy. I don’t think there’s no working difference in the 2 tbh but with dogs the thing that kills me the most is the pulling to every post to piss on it an often going deaf if they can smell in season bitches have been about ive said id never have another dog but who knows what the future holds if you do a litter an one takes your eye you gotta go with that gut feeling it’s never the wrong choice only if it don’t work out the way you expected
  23. This covid shit confuses the shit out of me it all seems like bull shit I’m glad I’m antisocial as f**k but learned at the weekend I can only go for a local walk with the new lock down I’m not allowed to travel but in the same breath I’m allowed to travel to work an mix with people from different tier systems were I’m working surly I’m more likely to get covid from work than walking a dog on my own
