  1. I find theyre like this after mating with a snipped hob and going through a phantom pregnancy. Its mothering behavior thetre trying to drag each other back to the nest as if they are kits.
  2. I only started making my own nets season before last so Im no expert. Started out making straight nets 3ft 6 long 15 meshes wide and they catch very well but I dont realy like that ammount of twine on the ring. my last 20 or so nets are 10 12 14 16 18 20 for 14 rows 18 16 14 12 10 4ft nets. A shaped net catches as well as a straight net as far as I can see.
  3. Yeah true. Ill just get on with it next season same way I used to do it.
  4. Ive fed rabbit squirrel magpies jackdaws and crows and Ive seen no evidence of worms.
  5. Counterproductive? that's given me something to think about. My usual land which I barely touched last season has footpaths running through it so theres a lot of dog walkers etc. The 2 new permisions I spent most of my time on are a bit out of the way so Im now wondering if the rabbits bolting easier had less to do with letting things settle and more to do with the rabbits not being put to ground every 5 minutes by dogs.
  6. I half agree but if I can net up another warren theres no time lost and Im not talking about walking away for an hour just 5 or 10 mins while Im either netting up another warren or having a drink.
  7. No they still bolt but I find the warren emptys a lot faster after a rest. Shotguns a bit loud for me I enjoy the silence.
  8. Do you give a warren time to settle after laying your purse nets? I do these days Ill net up a warren then Ill walk away for a while usualy Ill net up another if theres one close enough. Im quiet setting up anyway but I find the rabbits bolt a bit better like this.
  9. Ill be starting September maybe even late August. I cant wait to get back out there.
  10. You might get lucky and be able to keep a them together. Ive had my snipped hob with my jills this season and he doesn't seem to bother them much when theyre not in heat.
  11. found a tick on one of my jills the other day removed it and thought nothing more of it. Today Ive found them between her and a couple of my other ferrets toes. Ill have to get some frontline.
  12. I like to work both but I agree about the weight you can feel the difference when youre carrying a couple of hobs.
  13. Well they start to stink their balls drop and they want to shag Id call that in season. What would you call it? Dude nobody was having a go at you chill ffs season is something a female gets no? was my question no need to be funny was not attacking you Haha no problem. Im not sure what the scientific term is for a hob during the breeding season so Ill probably keep calling it in season. Horny !! Yeah that's what Ill call it in future lol.

  16. Not sure if that's aimed at me or the op? Anyway yes my hobs do. Is your hob castrated?
  17. I wouldn't introduce them until the hob is out of season.
  18. Id remove any chewable toys and give him some pipes to run through instead.
  19. I cant see why that wouldn't work. If you had a net sack attached instead of a full length bolt trap I suppose you could kill the rabbits without removing the trap from the hole.
  20. I found out later that his other silver and sandy kits were £15 though but because mine is polecat colour I was charged more. he had the colours I wanted and I happened to be in the area at the time. I dont see the logic. Polecat is a common colour so why would you pay more for it?
  21. £10 seems to be the usual price. I don't think its unreasonable though considering the amount growing kits eat.
  22. The member on here rake about has all the exotic crosses a bit more expensive than a ferret but well worth it , but he dont like to talk about or show his extensive crosses off Yeah Ive seen some oh his posts hes a big fan of eu polecats and micro ferrets to lol.
