  1. What are metal nets? Do you mean similar to bolt traps?
  2. What nets are you using? I like the spun poly nets but heavy nylon is also good.
  3. I hated the mk3m until I got the hang of it. I dont like the noise or the price but I find the led display pinpointer and search function very useful.
  4. I give my ferrets a light feed before working.
  5. I carry my nets in one of these bags http://www.surplusandoutdoors.com/shop/camping-equipment/rucksacks-bags/new-canvas-shoulder-bag-with-326200.html It was a tight fit but I had 57 nets in there the other day. I can even fit my micro shovel along the top. I carry locater knife and secateurs in my coat pockets. For carrying rabbits I have a length of webbing which works realy well and is light to carry.
  6. Id like a earphone socket on a ferret finder.
  7. Nice ferrets. I realy like to work hobs as well. My ideal team for a days ferreting would be 2 jills and a strong hob for backup.
  8. Personaly Id start looking for some ferrets. Ferreting permision isnt usualy hard to get and once you get a bit it often leads to more.
  9. True mate, although my hutch is just by my back door so I never bother with any extra security measures My hutch is by my back door as well but I still worry a bit. Im going to buy a shed which Ill definately alarm. Best way mate, I've got a bully that is my alarm English bull terrier? Id say a dog is probably the best deterent. I have a staff cross that makes a hell of a racket if anyone he doesnt know comes near the house.

  11. I recently introduced a new jill, I already had 2 hobs from last season and 3 jills from this season. The new jill is at least 4 years old. When I first put them in she was attacked by both hobs but after a day they had calmed down. I think its just a case of sorting out a pecking order.
  12. I feed mixy rabbits to the ferrets it does them no harm. Early last season the mixy was realy bad where I ferret so the ferrets lived on mixy rabbits for about 3 weeks and they looked good on it.
  13. Have you tried taking out the dry food?
  14. Ok thanks all. So Ill start early incase I get a layup. I have a hob here who kills and moves on fast so maybe thats the answer. Airgunguy Im in Kent.
  15. Anyone ferret under buildings? I have a bit to do and a few of the warrens are under buildings. Theyre small warrens only 3 or 4 holes but theyre under a concrete slab so Im a bit worried about not being able to retrieve the ferret if something goes wrong. The landowner wants them out from under the building so I think Ill backfill the holes after Ive ferreted them.
  16. I usualy take heart shots on magpies drops them like a stone.
  17. Sounds like you just need better ventilation. You could try drilling a few holes high up.
  18. 3 rabbits in a net? are we still talking purse nets?
  19. A good shaped net seems to catch and hold as well as a straight net. You still have the bagging where you need it.
  20. My nets are 8 10 12 14 few rows at 16 then 14 12 10 8. I only recently started making shaped nets but they seem to work just as good as the 15 wide straight nets I was making.
  21. Ive got a couple of this years kits that seem huge to me. Theyre way bigger than the jill they were bred from.
  22. You cant beat the fur and feather diet imo.
  23. I feed rabbit pigeon squirrel dove corvids and if I dont have any of these Ill use chicken wings.
