  1. Not sure if thats aimed at me or not. Anyway no I used it for a few days to put a couple of jills that hadn't been handled off biting. Every other ferret Ive ever had Ive used the usual method of pushing my finger further into their mouth everytime they nip.
  2. Nice shooting. What killzone do you prefer on magpies? I find the high chest drops them nicely.
  3. That only really works with kits! Very hard to push finger further into mouth when the bugger is already latched on if you are going to try that do it with wielding gloves. Yah point taken. I had a couple of well grown on jills that were fairly nippy. I coated my hands in bitter apple so they got the sour taste every time they bit and this put them off biting within a few days.
  4. Every time he bites push your finger into his mouth a tiny bit. Not enough to hurt him just to make him gag.
  5. A fecking sharp one. Seriously though for gutting I use a mora Ive also jointed rabbits with it and taken off rabbits feet and heads.
  6. You could get him castrated if you want to keep them together year round. Then if you did decide to breed you could borrow a hob.
  7. Some people prefer castrated hobs for working to entire ones. I think its because they don't get distracted early and late in the season when they would have their mind on mating.
  8. I once had a white ferret with a black nose. When it was snowing he used to cover his nose with his paw so the rabbits couldn't see him coming.
  9. Apart from the usual stews pies etc I have also minced rabbit mixed in a little sausage meat rolled into balls and then coated in bread crumbs. Put it into the oven for 20 minutes and theyre done. Usual dip them in either thai sweet chilli sauce or reggae sauce.
  10. I like my rabbit burgers. I fry diced onion a couple of chillis and some garlic until soft. Mince the rabbit chuck in either some sausage meat or fatty pork minced mix with the onions garlic and chillis.
  11. Take a look at freedomofabirds vid http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UJmXBvyIMtI&feature=c4-overview-vl&list=PLv57z4XyY6XFfsVtIXP998ylryAx7A24b that's the method I use on both rings. The meshes are attatched to the ring but also to each other so theres no meshes sliding around the ring.
  12. I made it out of fence wire. I don't think you can buy them but theyre so easy to make.
  13. Knit onto a triangle the same as you would the first ring. When you come to the end of the net sow on the bottom ring as you normaly would. Then slide the meshes off the triangle and sow to the ring the same way. THATS WHAT I WOULD DO....ALTHOUGH I USE A BIG SPLIT RING,SAME IDEA.... Never thought of a split ring I suppose that would work the same. No probs.Heres a pic of the triangle I use

  15. Not tried it myself but im told silicon sealant dotted on the inside of the collar is supposed to be good for gripping the ferrets fur so its near impossible for them to get it off.
  16. Ah right I like rabbit but cant stand wood pigeon myself. Just had a thought honey and mustard squirrel.
  17. If youre after a new knife take a look at mora carbon steel brilliant knives. I piss the rabbit soon after killing it and gut them after every warren.
  18. What put you off rabbit? Ill be trying the satay and the bbq at some time. Im realy impressed with it I was expecting it to be tough and gamey but it was realy tender with a mild taste. Not sure why more people don't eat them.
  19. Ive always used them as ferret food but shot one this morning and decided to try it. I gave it a soak in salt water (not sure if this is needed for squirrels?) then marinated it in reggae sauce for a few hours and it was lovely Anyone got any interesting squirrel recipes?
  20. The only silver I ever had was a brilliant worker.
  21. Are you sure its not a person who has done this? Seems unlikely to me that a fox would push the weld mesh in. Anyway sorry to hear this hope you get them back.
  22. Yeah I know, but surely a big hob would kill a micro hob if they fought properly? I've only ever had two (normal sized) hobs once, and they fought like cat and dog all year round so I've avoided it ever since. I've just put my hob back in with my jills and he's a much calmer animal now he has company. Toying with the idea of getting a micro hob so was wondering if it's feasible to leave it with a normal hob...if it isn't I wouldn't bother. Some ferrets get on some don't nothing to do with size. I know it's nothing to do with size....but if two equally sized ferrets go at it the

  25. Im going to try mine out later in the week. If they don't work Ill go back to using a length of webbing.
