Does it seem odd to anyone else that someones stealing ferrets as the season is coming to an end?
Anyway sorry to hear this it must be gutting to find your ferrets gone.
Just read the warning post at the top of the forum and realised that people might be reluctant to send money to a first time seller. If people would rather deal face to face thats fine. So £180 posted or £170 face to face.
I thought he was asking the twine size, as in when buying spools from the manufacturer....
Aye thats what i thought he was on about as well as you can get odd job lots from different company's
What companys? I could do with picking up a bulk lot.
Yeah I agree. Alot of people wont work hobs which I think is part of the problem. Ive met ferreters who have a few jills which they work and have a hob just for breeding. I think good working blood is being watered down with hobs who havent been put to the test.
Ah but do they really all work the same ??????
Yes.
No chance theres working ferrets and working ferrets
Im talking about different colours working the same. Ive had good and bad workers of both colours.
1700 hours take your job serious did you lol
Thats a habit I picked up from writing my patrol reports.
1700 full patrol ntr
1900 full patrol ntr
2100 full patrol ntr
It was all lies I was either watching tv or sleeping.
I was a security guard 10 years ago. Used to get to work at 1700 watch tv until about 2000 then Id make a bed out of office chairs and get a good night sleep. Easy job but mind numbingly boring.
My nets are all bright coloured so I never lose any. Ive found 5 nets other people have left behind over the past 2 seasons only 1 worth keeping though.
I feed rabbit wood pigeons corvids and squirrels. In the summer i feed at night and take te remains out in the morning before t gets to warm. I wouldnt consider the dry food.
I work jills and hobs. Couple of my jills are a fair size so not sure theyd go through a 4 inch mesh. Ive got a good working hob who has on one occasion been pursed up in a net.
I prefer to chin rabbits in the net. Using this method I can kill the rabbit quik and chuck it out of the way while I put another net over the hole. Then Im free to untangle the rabbit and sort the net out.
Ive been getting loads on a new permission. Its a small woodland and neighboring sheep field.
According to the NHS website freezing at -10 for 48 hours is enough to kill tapeworm so I dont see a problem using infected rabbits as ferret food. I remember reading somewhere that because food passes through a ferret so fast worms dont affect them anyway.

My usual spots have been crap this season. I was out one day last week from 8 until 2 and caught 2 rabbits. I just got permision to ferret a small woodland which seems to have a good population. I got 11 yesterday which I dont think is bad for a solo trip round here.
