  1. I worked two collies on the lamp a bitch and a dog. They picked up the idea real easy. I used to slip them together or sometimes on their own. Had some excellent sport with them, never caught great numbers (the ones they did catch were run up and down the hedge) , but then again there isn't a massive amount around where i lamp. Had good stamina, would run my whippet into the ground. So if your after good sport give it a go.
  2. Thats terrible, hope something can be done.
  3. Some good advice on here, i occasionally mix their biscuits with some pichards in tomato sauce, but i think i little warm gravey goes along way.
  4. Nice looking dogs. What breed are they?
  5. Worked a rescued border collie that i got at the age of about 15 months. She spent all her life in a stable before i got her. I will always remember the first time i took her out, i couldn't believe how she just naturally started to hunt up with the rest of my dogs...amazing. She turned out to be the best bushing/grafting dog i have ever owned. I think once the penny drops its got every chance of making a worker, but unless you know the history of the dog its always a gamble, but a rewarding one if it works out.
  6. Hi all, just wondering if anybody could point me in the direction of a good book that deals with the training of a springer or any recommended dvds? cheers wuyang
  7. X38, what breeding makes a tumbler? Just curious ive seen a few advertised but never really took much notice, are they used for alround lurcher work and what are there strengths compared to a general lurcher? cheers
  8. Don't expect too much too quickly...plenty of patience on your behalf.....which part of sheff?
  9. Mine was dam greyhound, sire border collie. Shes about 23 inch. Picked the lightest built one in the litter. Shes been an average worker, but i just mooch about these days. There isn't much about where i work my dogs so the only criticism i can really give her is that when the chips are down and theres not much about she gets bored easily and wants to play (finds a stick or something) rather than crack on looking for a scent and also she tends to keep to heel far too much for my liking(shes like a yoyo). Surprisingly quick off the mark good strike, very careful when chasing towards a hedgerow
  10. [i'd say (looking at the stamp of them) that they def have laguna breeding in them and at some point an ancester has come from Mike Browns Kennels up in North Wales. They are a credit to you mate, and look very fit. What height and weight are they? And are they both bitches? "Possibly got mike browns in there"......your just clutching at straws they could have owt in them.......
  11. Give it a good groom/brush and put it in a good stance....also if your missus dusts off that old mini skirt...you might be looking at a 1st
  12. That brindle one looks nice and solid what height are they?
  13. Hope shes ok pal, got my fingers crossed
  14. I bumped into a fella the other day when out with the dogs, He had a sooty sam bred whippet and a whippet/bedlington with him. The whippet wasn't shaking too much with the wet weather, but the little bed/whip with the rough coat was proper shivering. I have heard before that some bed/ whips look well protected, but actually the coat offers little protection and infact just holds the water, this was def the case with this one. Not saying there all like that, but this one certainly was. Didn't affect its working ability though the bloke said it was the best grafting dog out of the two. My coll
  15. Nice pups, how about......twinkle.....dottie or flash.
  16. I got a Canon eos 500d, but think that cost around £500 ish. Very nice camera and easy to use too. May have come down in price, there is also the 450d, which my mother has, both very good, not much in it at all, apart from mine can do hd video and slightly higher mega pix (not enough to make any difference). The lens that comes with it goes from 18mm to 55mm. Both have image stabiliser which is good. Shoots about 3.5 frames per second in sports mode. I also saved up and bought another lens (which is really good for shooting out in the field) for it which goes from 55mm to 250mm this also has
  17. Oh man thats made me feel sick.
  18. ANY PICS? WHERE THEY BED/WHIP X COLLIE/GREY?
  19. lol you couldnt of read them thoroughly, you go to M.B. get a pup bring it on right and i guarantee that dog will give you 100% every time you work him and not just on rabbits, in fact i doudt you have the work permission/time the dog desires..... people moanin about 300 a pup , thats about 3 weekends on the piss, if your moanin about how much a dog will cost you initially, dont get 1 because 1 vet bill could double that, if you buy a dog and it serves you well 300 is nothing for the enjoyment that dog would give you back. how do you no i havent got the permission or time a dog desires you
  20. Nowt wrong with ceaser millan. I wish i could read dogs like he can. I bet the book was worth its weight in gold.
  21. Fair points mate, mike sells pups 200-300 quid, less than a lot of other folk. But your not wrong in what you say. cheers, I paid £150 for the first whippet and £400 each for the other two. All three were healthy and looked after so why the differance in price? If you go on the whippet forum you get some stories about the cost of rearing a litter but anyone who says they dont make money from a large litter of KC reg whippets is crazzy. I actually dont have a problem with people malking a bit of money but be honest and admit it. A good friend of mine has three w
