  1. That's why I come on this site as I like seeing how others people do things. Certain people on here I used to bitch and argue with but most of them people soon hide behind others when push comes to shove. Now I'd rather just ignore them as they do a good enough job of making themselves look foolish they don't need my help. Ive said to kc when he was getting shit about his threads in winter to keep them up as this site should be more than just rabbiting and "pics of the dogs on a walk".i normally put up a few ferreting threads early on in the season and hopefully this winter should have a hawk
  2. Just because there's a few jealous fools on here who make themselves sound right fook in tools doesnt mean every lad who runs hares are like that. You ge it with whatever quarry you run whether it's deer hare fox or rabbit. I've seen rabbit men turn into green eyed monsters becuase the feller down the round killed a few more rabbits than him. Same with foxing there's always rumours of a dog spewing. Jealousy is every where I couldn't care less if my dog missed every hare in a day or if he killed 6 aslant as they give 100% every time than they have a place here till they end of there days. Just
  3. Who says they cant do both mate ?
  4. I watched the one with the fallow deer here was blaming poachers as soon as I saw the deers legs I said thats through fencing as we see it a lot round here.

  7. Dont know for sure mate was told he was outta buddy. Ive got the bitches name written down somewhere aswell, but his breeding means nothing he does his job well enough for me. Atb
  8. Mine get fed plenty of fish mostly trout caught from the stream that runs next to my house. Feed it whole. Good bit of protein you've got there mate. Atb
  9. I know of a family some race there lurchers some work there dogs harder than most. Does it really matter aslong as they enjoy there dogs ?? And as for racers being brought into working lines how many greyhounds are working in this country yet how many first xs are bred year after year. The same could be said of collies, bulls, salukis. I used to think the same but when you sit down and actually speak to some of the racing fraternity they can open your eyes a fair bit. All the best.
  10. I know a lad from your area who gives me a hand from time to time good honest bloke who will be willing to show you the ropes. Ill get hold of him and see what he says. Atb
  11. My boy. Looking forward to this season going to see what hes really made of.
  12. Not my cup of tea but as long as he pleases you that's all that matters. My grandad used to keep Alsatianxgreys down in the new forest and they killed plenty of deer for him. He said they did sometimes make a fox on the lamp look hard work but interestingly he took plenty of hares with them on the lamp. All the best with him I hope he works out for you. A while back I was thinking of going down the malinoi/greyhound route or maybe Dutch shepherd X greyhound. But I didnt think they could do anything some of the more common crosses couldn't. But if we all had the same opinion the dog game w
  13. my collie x would eat that......... Don't be fooled by his size mate he regurly punches above his wieght and has surprised a few lads with big 27tts running machines. My other half x bitch was only 23tts but she was some animal. We all had different opinions but I don't trust any dog fully with anything they are not machines they are flesh and bone and every dog can surprise you. I have a dog here that will bite any man who's stupid enough to be in my garden but if a small child is about is gentle as anything. All the best.
  14. When I was keep keepering it was always the first gun Id reach for when doing the rounds they are worth having but as already said do have there limitations. Atb
  15. Very good film seen it a few times.
  16. My dogs are kenneled as thats the way i like workers kept. If they reach retirement they get a place in the house but only one has ever made it that far.i have a bull/greyhound here whos worked by me moat of the time but my ten year old bro likes him and will often pop round after achool and take him out for a mooch. The dog ritrieves to him and i can trust the dog enough to let my bro hunt qnything that pops up when there out. I could never trust my coursing dog enough though and ive seen some collie lurchers that were right evil b*****ds when deer were involved.
  17. Cheers for the words. Hot or not, she would only bite once please don't take this the wrong way ,..........but biting once could be enough to kill a young child,............lets not get silly about me comment as I think I know a dog I can trust with my kids and even some bully lurchers ,..........but one thing I will say is don't take any chances with dogs and kids and don't leave them un - supervised around kids if you can help it.........but I have done before as no ones world is perfect ...........it happens ,...we all leave a dog with kids sometimes if there in the house , if the smoke
  18. Yes it was ......... Fairplay to the man then in my opinion. Nice to see.
  19. If i remember rightly wasnt that dog a rescue ??
  20. Yeah agreed. At first I thought it was just the 'lurcher scream of death' as he runs about with the others well enough, but he keeps raising it and crying when he's at rest, thinking there might be an underlying fracture maybe - going get him booked into vet monday thanks You will be best seeing a running dog specialist mate. A good one will tell you the problem from a look and feel. Run of the mill vets just see pound signs. They will want keep him in, do scans and X-rays, you name it - £££££ can depend on your vet though gaz even some running dog specialst will still want the dog X-r
  21. Was told too much egg can make them lose fur but mine get one or 2 a week never chased them problems same as the dogs. Atb
  22. Out of interest all of those who like to lamp off the slip do your dogs wait until they are told to run or do they go for the first thing that's lit up ? Atb
  23. Doubt it mate seeing as the old dog is 10 year old and still does it. A good friend of mine is a well known professional dog trainer. Means fook all to me but he trains pp dogs aswell as numerous "problem" dogs and makes alot of money out of the results he get.Speaking too him about it years back he said he could sort the problem for me. Unfortunately it was bang in the middle of ferreting time so I declined but if it inconveniance me too much i couldve sorted it.why would I waste time when he walks perfectly off the lead is bombproof with cats and other people calling him and will stand at a
  24. Not all of them can be. Out of my 3 the collie/grey is the worst for pulling but will walk perfectly to heel off the lead. The only dog I've ever had wich I don't lamp without a slip lead is my saluki/grey. And he's not really a lamper so it doesn't matter too much. Atb
